  • why the fuck are you hating on laptops?

  • @pufixas Whos "hating" on laptops? Its a bottom of the line piece of shit I used to have. It couldn't even play CS 1.5....still think im "hating"

  • @teamhex

    Yes

  • @teamhex that's because your laptop spec sucks,stupid bitch!

  • @bumtaksi Say that to my monster ass gaming rig kid.....3x 24" LED monitors in eyefinity on a 6990.....

Not only do I not have that laptop anymore, but laptops in general suck. Its clear you didn't even watch the video...I insulted the laptop multiple times....

  • windows XP VS Windows Vista not fair

  • @XD87337 lol, your right, but pay attention to the boot process. I'm not talking about how long the OS takes to load. I'm talking about the time it takes to complete POST and everything.

  • @teamhex what was in your throat that made u shaky and nervous?

  • @kookieless popcorn kernel in the ol' throat

  • @teamhex just saying my laptop is 1-2 years older than this video and it has 2.00 GZ Dual proccessor

  • @kookieless Processor speed means absolutely nothing with out an "architecture"(chip) reference. My IC2D E8400 @ 4G may be equal to a P4 @ 8gigherz. Benchmarks are what you have to go off of. If your talking about the same family of chips you can compare by frequency, but other then that your pissing in the wind.

  • @teamhex i am gonna go piss in the wind if it is windy

  • @teamhex i can build a pc for 330 pounds that can run games on high and meduim

  • @kris10ish Whats your point? My Graphics card alone is pretty much that. HD6970, then my 3 24" LED monitors are worth more then that lol. I really should make another video showing my updated rig.

  • @teamhex yeah but i can run crysis on high with 330 pounds LOL what i do is get a decent pc that can play games on meduim and high and can record fottage and then wen i have money i usally update i had a gtx 590 but it got ruind due to not enough power

  • Lol it got ruined due to not enough power? I dont think that's possible, its possible not to have enough power and the card not work, but in a nutshell anyone can play crysis on high at a lower res. Try running 5972x1080. I'll make a video of my running duke nukem forever on full blast at that resolution.

  • @teamhex it is possible it overheated becuse of teh power supply and i didnt have enough fans so thats why it died I shoudnt have gotten the gtx 590 at my first

  • theres a setting in the bios that skips all the system checks check your bios and yah the ide slows it down like crazy

  • @attilagenius94 Iv disabled all of those. If you do that then it just doesn't show you the technical details. The IDE thing I turned off and it didn't really do anything but disable IDE devices.

  • @teamhex well IDE/pata's are very slow compared to todays sata drives. the tech details arent shown and thats what speeds up your boot so it doesnt check everything.

  • @attilagenius94 Yeah, makes since. I just need to build a new one. I think this things coming up on like 3 years old. Still runs great and the fact that it runs at 4gighertz is great, but a raid setup with some raptors would be nice.

  • @teamhex yup. I actually have recent upgraded just need a new cpu and i was thinking of going with a phenom ii x 4 965 BE. Cause im currently using a 2005 processor at very slow speeds of 2.6 ghz, and i took it from my old oem.

  • no!!! no!!!! vista is slower!! you have been fooled i tell you fooled!!! muahhaah!!

  • that little piece of shit beat that big piece of shit

  • @manman4092 Hows my rig a piece of shit? Its like 2 and a half years old and can still play any new game out there at full. Sure I could build a new one, but this one just needs more ram and a new video card. I might eventually build another one, but I do it everyday at work and to be honest im starting to dislike messing with computers.

  • Sienfeld FTW!!!!

  • @PSTube1000 what was the specs for both PCs?? and what version of vista and XP were you using, because i have tried many times over and over again man. I could never get vista to boot faster even if i took all the graphics off and turned off like 20 services.

I've ran like over 30 different layouts putting XP pro vs Vista home, pro and ultimate. The only time i had it boot faster was putting it on a SSD drive.

  • @Randomkaoz SSD's will help for sure. Two 10k drives in a RAID setup are also a good option. Overclocking can also help out alot. As far as your OS...I dont think anyone should be using Vista. Its trash. Windows 7 functions as fast as XP, with the modern touch that vista brought.

  • @teamhex oh dude i dont use vista, i was just responding to what PSTube said because he said he was able to get vista to boot faster in a old machine vs XP in a new machine. So i was asking how did he do it. I knew vista was BS when it was called something else back in the day. Did you ever solve the problem to your booting problem man?

  • @Randomkaoz Lol, I didn't know weather to reply to you or PSTube. Yeah I did solve my problem. When the machine boots it scans all the hardware and drives. It was hanging at one of the drives. Pulled it out and it boots up alot faster. Its still not as fast as the Dell was(sold it). I think it has to do with the custom BIOS . Its designed for that hardware vs something that can handle tons of hardware brands.

  • @teamhex haha, its cool dude. Haven't tried windows 7 yet, you know the very thought of paying for windows lol. But i been hearing good things about it, i didn't like the fact that they had the nerve to charge vista users though as if it a completely new OS. I feel vista users should have gotten a free upgrade just for putting up with that BS.

  • @Randomkaoz Im with you on that. They screwed people with vista and now they expect people to buy what should have been vista. Personally I get free software because of my job, and iv got unlimited access to OS's n stuff. Im not going to tell you to do anything illegal, but its not really hard to download an OS and put it on a DVD. Most even come with cracks that make the OS legit :).

  • im gonna buy a desktop for sure but i have to wait for very long because i dont wanna use my parents money.

  • In you BIOS is "quick Power On self test" or something like it disabled. If so you need to enabled it! In my BIOS I have to go to "Advanced BIOS Features" then find "Quick Power On Self Test" and put it to enabled, its a must for fast boot up. It will stop the full ram test and get you passed the BIOS is only 1 to 2 sec. not 10 sec or longer. The full ram test is not needed, and really all it will do is slow down you boot.

  • @pokemoncatdog I dont have the quick POST or anything like it. The main thing that's happening is that one of my hard-drives(iv got 3) is going bad and it takes like 2-6 seconds to access it and it causes that lag time when I boot. I really just need to get rid of my 2 other drives. I really dont use them anyways. I changed a few more settings and installed Windows 7 64bit since then and its working alot better, but I do need to remove that hard drive.

  • As much as I love the convience of a laptop, I still prefer a desktop. I think that with a desktop you can do so much more such as video and music editing and such.

  • i have latest delll insperon its great it would load upo 3x as fast as his desktop due to windows 7 technoligy has intel pentium inside its great and is faster than most desktops

  • My 8400 OC'd to 4gigher'z can beat any laptop on the market...end of story. Boot time is not an indication of the amount it can process. Laptops will always be dollar for dollar shittier then desktops. You'd have to spend 3500 on a laptop to get something that can do what a $600 desktop can do

  • Yeah man like you said try tuning your BIOS also dude, XP by default even if the dell wasn't already configured with boot speed or speed boot, fast boot what ever the hell dell calls it lol. It loads faster then vista, i think if your BIOS was set up the same way and you had XP in it. The desktop would have flew by or at least be neck and neck.

  • thats not a fare match

    RAM 4GB vs 2GB

  • How is it not a fair match if my laptop beat my tower? My tower has badass specs compared to that laptop. That laptop cant play CS 1.5, my Tower can play crysis with no problem. Its since been overclocked to 4 gighertz and the ram speed increased, it boots faster with windows 7 64 bit, but my laptop still wins by a long shot.

  • Also man forgot to add, your rig is doing a systems check then a post check. My rig used to do that now it just skips all of that and goes straight to the XP load screen.

    and i got a P4 in it.

  • Fastboot and tons of other things are on, it boots a little faster, but like 3 seconds faster. Id have to say this computer boots slower then any other one iv seen. I'm thinking it has to do with the one IDE drive I have in there. I need to replace it and run nothing but sata.

  • that desktop going up against the laptop did you build that?

Yeah the IDE could be giving some sluggish, but i dont know how much boost would a sata give for start up time unless you went SSD on it. I've seen real fast boot times with the WD raptor.

  • Yeah, theres some kind of IDE controller that has to be turned on in the BIOS, so im assuming it runs some type of emulator for it. I think im going to go with a 64gig SSD for the OS, and then 2 raptor. That or ill go with 2 raptors in Raid. I'm still thinking about it.

  • What's the specs of your rig and board? Now that i remember my little sisters dell loads the same way and the last time i was in the bios it seemed that it doesn't do a post and systems check. Thats why when they fuck up, your stuck spending 3 hours trying to figure out what the hell is wrong, because it won't turn on. Hate Dells they started doing that since 2004 models.

  • Their in the Description. Dell do have a POST(Power on self test), all computers do, they have too. Dells aren't that bad, they have diagnostic lights. I work on them all day, and I can tell you their are some models that are great and dont break, and others that have problems.

  • Not all computers have it, i have seen a few that by passes it. The BIOS in my board lets you skip it for even faster booting.

dells lost their thunder after the 8100 Dimension.

After that they just got cheap, they still have the best customer service but those diagnostic lights are a pain in the ass, 1 and 3 would be on and when you turn to the manuel it says, PSU maybe be unplugged, HDD crash, Power failure, Loose RAM lol, its like what the hell we need for diagnostic lights lol.

  • They have good customer service if you buy a shit load of their product, lol. We get great service, thats why they have a corporate help service and home service, lol.

  • teamhex what is your specs for your rig vs the specs on the laptop.

  • Their in the description of the video...hit "more info"

  • Plus those people that said vista is supposed to load faster then xp are full of shit. I have built so many different computers and not one has boot faster with vista vs xp. Now my question to you is, why does your bois screen look so much different from mine if we both have asus boards, like mine and so many others looks different man. I think you should had picked a board with faster ram speed close to the FSB on the chip. That helps take out any bottle necks too. But that bios is a problem.

  • Iv since overclocked the processor to 4 gigahertz. Its pretty sweet now.

  • Oh lol i see it now haha, you know its weird but, i have an asus p5n-d and i don't have that type of emulator. However i dont have vista in one of my rigs with the p5n-d its running XP with a Pentium 3.0Ghz 800 FSB @ 35c peak.

2 IDE drives, DDR2 800 i think crucial ballistix. It takes 39.95 seconds to reach the desktop to the point where everything is done loading. web cam, scanner, keyboard, printer, usb hub and external HDD. Without all that stuff. 27.13.

  • I run windows 7 64bit, its pretty cool

  • yeah that one runs and boots way faster. then vista.

your bios though is really bugging me out man. Like i even timed it with my stop watch when you booted and i was like holy shit, like its checking a lot of stuff. So you know the IDEs aren't the problem because one of my pc's is configured that way.

  • I'm betting its because of one of my hard-drives. I know one is going bad, maybe its hanging up when it checks for the drives. Either way...not a big deal ill deal with it later.

  • Oh ok yeah that has happen to me before too i thought my mobo was dying on me till i figured it out and disconnected it.

I wanted to ask you man, that samsung HDD that you have is it loud??? Because i heard its pretty fast.

  • Iv never heard it to be honest. The loudest thing I have is my 4870

  • cool, i see that it has good ratings in terms of speed.

I was gonna match it against the IBM deskstar HDD or Hitachi who ever makes it now.

  • Shes a Herm, the penis is basically a really large clit. Your English sucks, stick to your native language(don't worry I can translate). It has been proven and she or he....himself said it...so...yeaaaahh. Im not talking shit, im just letting you know. And I highly doubt her penis can match the size of my German sausage. Just because im fat doesn't mean I have a small piece :)

  • Comment removed

  • Yes as I said the custom Bios' on Laptops allows them to boot faster. A custom built system will boot slower. Just a heads up, Gaga is a Hermy, thats not a rumor, but a fact :).

  • I would guess that the laptop is not doing a "cold boot" but is just coming out of some sort of hibernate state.

  • Its a cold boot man, I know its hard to see, but the windows logo gives it away, if it came out of a hibernate you'd just see a user icon to click. Its just how the bios is. Dell has it setup for their hardware. Custom machines are different. Update on it though, I'm running windows 7 64bit and iv OC my processor to 4gighertz. Needless to say it boots alot faster.

  • not seen a bois that slow since the skull trail board do agree tho the laptop is custom to run like that in the past not had a problem with PATA or SATA in bios slow down might look in to this a bit more bit of a challenge

  • I wouldn't really call it a problem. The custom bios has to be the reason it boots fast. You would think it would boot even faster since I OC'd it. Im thinking its one of my hard drives. My 80 giger stalls for a few seconds when I click my computer or the drive itself, then goes *click* before it pops up. Im sure its going bad, but it still works so maybe ill just buy a new Sata drive and replace the POS. My 750 is nearly full anyway

  • Sweet computer. I fucking hate slow booting computers. I was down at my moms house over the weekend and tried messing around on her old ass Dell... that damn thing came close to going out the window. What did you do to it?

  • Nothing, that's just how it boots, I think its because its got dells custom "Bios". Its built for the hardware in use on the laptop. My desktop is a custom build, all the parts are pretty much different.

  • man ur desktop is ownage

  • Could be alot better :)

  • Hey man!

    Already accepted your response :)

    that laptop sure boots fast

i mean... i logs into XP before the desktop leaving for post screen...

I dunno what the hell they do with laptops that makes them boot-up so fast... I mean... My mom´s 4yo notebook boots faster than my pc... but anyways

Our pcs beats the hell out of those laptops @ anything :P

    hehehe

    great video mate

    cheers

  • You know, im thinking it has to do with the bios on the dell. Its designed for the computer its on and not a general build like an ASUS board or something. Either way thanks for the comment man :)

  • Yeh

there´s must be something to do with the bios!

or some badass regestry optimization too

it´s kinda hard to know what´s the magic :P

    hehehe

    Cheers mate! :)

  • Update, I just did a small OC on my system Processors at 3.402GHz Rams at 908MHz

  • I´ll try ocing mine too :)

    i hope it ocs well...

i dunno how to oc cpus and i´m kinda afraid of doing it...

    cheers

  • Its not to hard, just remember you can only do it so much, I tried 3.6 and I was getting crashes. So Im assuming I needed to manually change the voltage to create a stable clock. I still haven't fully learned how to OC a processor. I should be able to bring this one to 3.8 easily on air, iv even heard of people hitting 4 on air.
