you can never beat manual for drifting, DCT, tiptronic, nothing will quite work as well as a manual transmission because you can use the clutch to apply tourque when you need it like right before a turn to initiate the drift. same goes for track racing.

@shuttles69 Why wouldnt you, the KE70 is a great base for a drift platform, a lot of AE85 and AE86 running gear bolts straight in with very little modification, much cheaper and easier to find parts for and they just look plain tough regardless of what front end they have, be it twin headlight or flatnose...

Interesting idea to run the distributor off the front of the exhaust cam, I've never seen it before on a 20V. Good idea on a budget though, saves on coil packs.

It's a very common solution to the problem of the dizzy fouling the firewall. Well you could hammer the firewall out of the way either, if your really on a budget

No it's definitely a 20V, you can see the VVT pulley on the intake cam and the 16Vs don't have the need for the distributor to be moved as they have it on the exhaust side.

@Talasas Yeah i see it now, my bad, had a look at the tappet covers too and completely different to the 16V ones, that and the distributor would have been at the rear of the motor sticking halfway thru the firewall...

Just that ive only ever really seen carbs run on bluetop 4AGE's with the T-VIS removed (bigger ports than the 20v and all) so i assumed it was a 16...

Anyway a ke70 and ae70 are the same car just ones got a t series and the other has a k series

Uhhhh, the first letter is the type of engine it has in it. Ke70 had a 4k-c a Ae70 has a a-series engine like a 4a-c or a 4a-ge What you said is right.. To a certain extent, the two engines had a different gearbox.

PS. You lucky fucker living in aus. I've heard of Irish lads importing ae86 1/4 panels from there because ye have such a plentiful supply of old toyotas
