Up here in Traverse City, Michigan. The power company sold it's coal burning plant to Guatamala and added wind turbins to its grid. They are fascinating to watch.
I like those things! People have campaigned to try and stop them going up but, after they have people say they don't mind them at all and actually feel reassured by them!:)
We need to pursue all practical forms of alternative energy. The coal to liquid fuel, a technolgy developed by Adolph Hitler's Germany during WW2 seems to be the one that would free us, the USA, from the foreign oil producers's yoke. Wind is a very practical method that we can use immediately.
Very Cool send Daniel!! We have some Wind Farms in West Texas! I see them trucking parts down the highway from time to time! They are huge!! Great vid Nancy thanks!*****Duke
I am with you on that!! The funny thing is there were allot of them long ago on the Cape. There is still a old one in Yarmouthport. The thing remember about the Cape is how much wind there is. It would drive you a little nuts at times. My old house was 300 yards from the Bay it would blow one way in the morning and the other in the afternoon but not as bad in the summer. Oh well you just can't please everyone!! Have a good one! Duke
Nancy, what a beautiful and relaxing video you have done. They are somewhat hypnotic and the music you have chosen to use makes this a very calming view.
Just my thoughts ...from HubbyWiz, relaxing down under.
Aren't they beautiful Linda! I found them to be just breathtaking. And what a great way to supply us with our energy. Cleaner air, more efficient, such a great idea.
It's really cool that you saw them being brought in and built. We have some of those here in TX but not near me. I bet the person that owns that land is going to make a lot of money from leasing the land to the energy folks who put them up.
They look peaceful. Are they quiet? Or do they make a slight noise?
Hi Joyce. I was two blocks away from my house, down at the river, filming a fountain, when the overseas ship passed by carrying the parts! So I took it and added to what I already had on the wind turbines. I stood very close to them and there was no noise at all. They were so beautiful against the blue sky.
People in the UK moan and complain about the windmills.. Being from Scandinavia I'm quite used to them, if you travel through Denmark there's always at least one in view at all times.. I don't mind, it's clean energy and more harmless than the alternatives.. This was a very interesting video to say the least, and beautiful too. If anything I think the mills add to the landcape, something you can't accuse a grey nuclear power bunker or smoking coal-fuel chimneystacks of doing, exactly.. :)
Exactly my way of thinking! They are absolutely beautiful and I didn't hear any noise coming from them at all...I could have watched them for hours, as I found them very relaxing to watch.
Here they have some issue if Eagles being killed by flying into the blades, but I find the unlikely, as they aren't exactly going round as fast as the props on a plane, and the birds surely can avoid them. As for the noise, I have never heard any either, and even if there would be a gentle swishing noise, it'd be no worse than the wind blowing through the branches of a tree.. :) I'm all for the use of windpower... :)
Yes, something similar to that happened here only with the bats. They are saying something about the oxygen being sucked out of their lungs..but I feel it has more to do with how they maneuver and fly at night. They are looking into it anyway, as we need the bats to eat the mosquitoes.
I heard no noise from the blades and no vibration on the ground, which some have claimed they cause.
They are so graceful. And I do believe the right way to go to help produce environmentally friendly sources of energy and reduce global warming. More power to the wind turbines!!! Great video NancyLee!!!
People complain about wind turbines that they are an eye sore. There are wind turbines out of my kitchen window in the distance. I'd rather have that than a nuclear plant on my doorstep.
Oh Amanada..I thought they were beautiful! Very peaceful to watch and like you say I would rather look at that out my window than a nuclear power plant.
Hi Caylyn, That figures about them sending it elsewhere but these are for the homes directly in that area. I know they sent our energy we get from Niagara to the states and elsewhere.
I just think it is so much cleaner, safer, and they are so beautiful to watch.
Wow Nancy! That was neat. It is so green there. Sometimes I miss that. Funny story - my sister is a 'pilot' driver = she drives the small truck behind or in front of the big load truck. This summer she helped get a LOT of windmill parts up to the desert north west of Los Angeles. We were so glad to see an alternative energy source and they put up hundreds. Outside Palm Springs there are windmill farms that go on for miles. It's interesting.
Thanks Liz! I found them to be so beautiful and relaxing to watch..and yes they do go on for miles and miles..I really wanted to see inside the little building below which housed the computer for running them. They are starting to pop up all over up here and I think they're fantastic!!
how what a nice touch to the song : )

Those darn things are an eye sore. They pop up here in all beautiful places even in bays around our shoes.
I guess that we have to put up with them, we need electricity.

Really? I think they are beautiful, quiet and a great source of power.
These are on a lake shore but back far enough so as not to block the view of the lake.
Thank you for your opinion.
