Maybe so, but most of us can't do that. Advanced lucid dreamers could maybe, but most of us can't do that either. Herein lies the struggle for most of us in studying Seth's material. We're reading about a way of experiencing reality that we have no reference for. I'm an ultra-cynic. I find ways to tear everything down. But I can tell there's something different about Seth's material. There's something there, but I just don't know what it is.
In the Unknown Reality volume 1, Seth speaks of the difference between dead knowledge and living knowledge. Words are similar as well-- when one uses words without becoming momentarily the ESSENCE of the word, the word is simply a sound, an indicator of something vague and objectified. Shifting perspective INTO the word is crucial in order to grasp it's knowledge viscerally.
Seth has a powerful presence. It's also very clear (if you perceive in this way) that when he says certain words, he is thinking of a much more profound definition than we have ascribed to those words. He wills life into words (quite literally) and this is why he is sometimes hard to understand.
Wildersara, I have also been trained in Transcendental Meditation since I was 17. I am now 55. Many of my life experiences were mysteriously synchronized. And I have tried to create reality using the Seth exercises. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But the funny thing is it works sometimes pertaining to thoughts you did not intentionally push for creation... they just happen. Funny.
I have an open mind about it. I notice people screeching like crows against it are ugly people, not like Jane is what some MIGHT call ugly, ugly on the inside. I have watched a few of them. When someone credible says this is BS...I'll think about it. So far she is with Edgar Cayce, proof of an Eternal Soul. My Christianity is with re-incarnation anyway so this is no deal breaker. Jane Roberts was not on LSD. LSD produces an artificial chemical insanity. Marijuana was rooted to the natural earth and, therefore, was more natural. Jane was the perfect person to channel Seth. So much of todays's spiritual teachings were taken from Jane Roberts without giving her, and Seth, the credit.

We are extensions of God in the physical. Our reverend always says "Take what you like and leave the rest." He doesn't attempt to "convert" people. So, why don't you follow that advice? Take what you like and leave the rest and stop trying to change people.

Jane Robert's first book on the occult was "How to Develop Your ESP Power"...published in 1966 and reprinted in 1974. Her first book on SETH, "The Seth Material", was first published in 1970. For those who love the SETH books, you might be interested in "Speaking of Jane Roberts" by her friend, Susan M. Watkins, a lovely, well-written book. It might also interest some that Jane's husband, Rob Butts knew Seth best. His spirit left his body on May 26, 2008 at 2PM. He was 89 years old.
To the gravity of love. Jane Roberts work and Seth words give us this key. It has saved my life and guided my decisions 37 of my 54 years. The limits of choice and the boundaries of love can not be measured ore experienced without study. Seth is REALLY hard to understand on the first read. In this video Seth says "Your being has validity beyond any philosophy...." I think another way of saying this is your life, or better yet, your existence is greater than any philosophy, religion, scientific law..... so you shouldn't let these things define you, and in some sense you shouldn't define yourself by these things. probably not -- she may indeed have not been on drugs while doing this -- but the culture which produced it and provided and audience for it was contemporaneous with LSD culture and the mental state required for all of that is quite similar to the effects of LSD, so I don't think the presumption that it played a role can be dismissed entirely. Having read many of the Seth books, this is the first I've seen Jane on tape and her delivery is offputting, a good exercise in examining reactions due to societal indoctrination instead of focusing on what is being said which is remarkable here.
Pseudopross...my reaction was probably similar at first and I had to ask myself why. I agree with you that our societal expectations certainly were involved in this but, like you, I reevaluated my thinking and realized that the visual does not have anything to do with the content of the material and for which I will be forever grateful to Jane and Seth.
Watching this video makes me appreciate the tremendous task that Robert Butts performed in transcribing this material, and in editing out all of the "ahs" after every other word. I suspect that if all we had were videotapes of these sessions, they would have turned a lot of people off, me included, due to the strangeness of the delivery. It comes across as bizarre and flamboyant, with an air of condescension -- but hey, this might've been deliberate, to challenge our preconceived prejudices!
Most amazing is that much of the text from "Personal Reality" is very similar to my own theories developed the past 10 years. I never read and New Age books until recently. These videos are comical. But the information without the entertainment value is priceless. It makes a lot of sense.

Jane has been around since the 70's and I find that much of Jane/Seth's teachings in general has become mainstream without anyone blinking an eye (or crediting Jane/Seth) for it.

I do quite like some of the ideas in the Seth Material but there are too many others with which I very much disagree. Therefore I can't go along with it.
What is certain is a multi-world experience as a capability of human personality. That's one idea more or less echoed in the material that I'd go along with.
Yes, of course we can agree to disagree. But who said anything about enlightenment? I'm just reading it because it makes such damn good sense. Seth is not the occult. There are no secrets or hidden meanings. It is straight-forward and honest. Occult is what you are talking about when you mention "esoteric truths". And you will find fraud anywhere a quick buck can be made (politics, religion, science, and business).
I can see that you don't want to take on board the possibility that the Seth material is hokum. Ultimately everything must answer to science though it may be that some of the fundamentals of science would first have to change to accomodate new discoveries as they relate to consciousness. I found some of your interpretations of what I wrote to be interesting if bizarre.

I apologize for saying you actually googled the passages. But I still don't know where you got them from? To me it seems that you took the first half of one sentence and kind of stuck it to the back half of another sentence. That is why I said you don't have your facts straight. If you are going to quote Seth, then make sure that you use Seth's actual words.
Esoteric truth? What kind of club do you belong to? So now the only great truth is secret and known by a chosen few? Call me a fool, but I will trust my own convictions about the words of a long-winded spirit over the pre-packaged truths of a man-made god revealed by a "holy" spirit.
If you like we can just agree to disagree. Enlightenment isn't ever achieved by reading books though. It depends on what you're looking for. Different people have different motives or priorities in life. There's a great deal not answerable by science (presently) and with the study of consciousness there is space for pioneers in the field. The occult/new age etc. is beset with fraud however - for me it is obvious, but to each their own opinion, right or wrong.

If I am part of a tiny majority (as you state, but I doubt), then I am proud of it. But I don't feel any need to tell anyone "why this is some great version of truth", it simply just is. At the end of the day 22thousanddays, you should not trust people/(and especially!) "spirits" making longwinded claims that cannot be proved about reality. Don't be a fool. If on the other hand someone comes along and says they don't have all the answers but is confident about a certain esoteric truth then that is far more likely to have real value.

Next, speaking of your proof. you said you googled the passages. That might stand for something in some corners of the world, but I have the book in my hand. Ideas of good and evil, gods and devils, are merely symbols of deeper religious values, cosmic values if you will, that cannot be translated into physical terms (Seth Speaks, Chapter 21, Session 586).

Maybe so, but most of us can't do that. Advanced lucid dreamers could maybe, but most of us can't do that either. Herein lies the struggle for most of us in studying Seth's material. We're reading about a way of experiencing reality that we have no reference for. I'm an ultra-cynic. I find ways to tear everything down. In the Unknown Reality volume 1, Seth speaks of the difference between dead knowledge and living knowledge. Words are similar as well-- when one uses words without becoming momentarily the ESSENCE of the word, the word is simply a sound, an indicator of something vague and objectified. Shifting perspective INTO the word is crucial in order to grasp it's knowledge viscerally.

Wildersara, I have also been trained in Transcendental Meditation since I was 17. I am now 55. Many of my life experiences were mysteriously synchronized. And I have tried to create reality using the Seth exercises. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But the funny thing is it works sometimes pertaining to thoughts you did not intentionally push for creation... they just happen. Funny.

I have an open mind about it. I notice people screeching like crows against it are ugly people, not like Jane is what some MIGHT call ugly, ugly on the inside. I have watched a few of them. When someone credible says this is BS...I'll think about it. So far she is with Edgar Cayce, proof of an Eternal Soul. My Christianity is with re-incarnation anyway so this is no deal breaker. I have seen devils. There is no mistaking them.

@selious04 I go to a Unity Church and we study and believe the teachings of Abraham, Theo, and Seth. We also believe in Christ and we believe that God lives in ALL of us. We are extensions of God in the physical. Our reverend always says "Take what you like and leave the rest." He doesn't attempt to "convert" people. So, why don't you follow that advice? Take what you like and leave the rest and stop trying to change people.

Why would anyone want to listen to a demon? A being who started out as an angel in Heaven and chose to rebel with Satan - trading Heaven for Hell. Demons made the ultimate mistake. They are not wise. @delagrazia You don't need "proof" to point out that historical events, messages, stories etc. always gets distorted in one way or another as time passes. Records of the "true" past get re-written, sometimes muliple times. I believe the teachings of Christ "are" partially distorted and are not all there, as well as his life accounts. No proof needed. Only common sense.

Jane Robert's first book on the occult was "How to Develop Your ESP Power"...published in 1966 and reprinted in 1974. Her first book on SETH, "The Seth Material", was first published in 1970. For those who love the SETH books, you might be interested in "Speaking of Jane Roberts" by her friend, Susan M. Watkins, a lovely, well-written book. It might also interest some that Jane's husband, Rob Butts knew Seth best. His spirit left his body on May 26, 2008 at 2PM. He was 89 years old.

To the gravity of love. Jane Roberts work and Seth words give us this key. It has saved my life and guided my decisions 37 of my 54 years. The limits of choice and the boundaries of love can not be measured ore experienced without study. Seth is REALLY hard to understand on the first read. Having immersed myself in the Shamanic pathe some 20 years ago...I read voraciously....when in a higher state of conciousness "Don Juan" seemed trite, most bibles seemed vague and childlike but i eneded up devouring every seth book 3 times...Each word hit home like a Mack Truck i have never since read anything so powerful....she/he was on to "string theory" way before physics etc...I must say the video is off putting....strange ...bizaar but who am i to judge?the information reads like GOLD

I think another way of saying this is your life, or better yet, your existence is greater than any philosophy, religion, scientific law..... so you shouldn't let these things define you, and in some sense you shouldn't define yourself by these things. probably not -- she may indeed have not been on drugs while doing this -- but the culture which produced it and provided and audience for it was contemporaneous with LSD culture and the mental state required for all of that is quite similar to the effects of LSD, so I don't think the presumption that it played a role can be dismissed entirely. I lived 4 hrs south of Elmira, wish I wasn't in high school then!!! It would've been great to be in her ESP class. The Seth books are the BEST on the subject. Of the 70 some metaphysics books I've read, the 20 Seth books still are the most concise, mind opening publications out there. Some pretty famous people/writers like Louise Hay credit the Seth stuff for there thorough understanding of the Universe, even Marianne Williamson. Good stuff. ;) Enjoy if you're ready!

Having read many of the Seth books, this is the first I've seen Jane on tape and her delivery is offputting, a good exercise in examining reactions due to societal indoctrination instead of focusing on what is being said which is remarkable here.

I agree with you that our societal expectations certainly were involved in this but, like you, I reevaluated my thinking and realized that the visual does not have anything to do with the content of the material and for which I will be forever grateful to Jane and Seth.

Watching this video makes me appreciate the tremendous task that Robert Butts performed in transcribing this material, and in editing out all of the "ahs" after every other word. I suspect that if all we had were videotapes of these sessions, they would have turned a lot of people off, me included, due to the strangeness of the delivery. It comes across as bizarre and flamboyant, with an air of condescension -- but hey, this might've been deliberate, to challenge our preconceived prejudices!

Most amazing is that much of the text from "Personal Reality" is very similar to my own theories developed the past 10 years. I never read and New Age books until recently. These videos are comical. But the information without the entertainment value is priceless. It makes a lot of sense.

Jane has been around since the 70's and I find that much of Jane/Seth's teachings in general has become mainstream without anyone blinking an eye (or crediting Jane/Seth) for it.

transcendrage1, smart people recognise this and don't generally allow themselves to be manipulated i.e. they will seek to live lives on their own terms and ideally become free of material constraints like money inasmuch as they can dictate terms. All that can take a while admittedly. Personally I used to fear death more than most things but less so now after some powerful inner experiences. Yes, of course we can agree to disagree. But who said anything about enlightenment? I'm just reading it because it makes such damn good sense. Seth is not the occult. There are no secrets or hidden meanings. It is straight-forward and honest. Occult is what you are talking about when you mention "esoteric truths". And you will find fraud anywhere a quick buck can be made (politics, religion, science, and business).

I can see that you don't want to take on board the possibility that the Seth material is hokum. Ultimately everything must answer to science though it may be that some of the fundamentals of science would first have to change to accomodate new discoveries as they relate to consciousness. If you like we can just agree to disagree. Enlightenment isn't ever achieved by reading books though. It depends on what you're looking for. Different people have different motives or priorities in life. There's a great deal not answerable by science (presently) and with the study of consciousness there is space for pioneers in the field. The occult/new age etc. is beset with fraud however - for me it is obvious, but to each their own opinion, right or wrong.

At the end of the day 22thousanddays, you should not trust people/(and especially!) "spirits" making longwinded claims that cannot be proved about reality. Don't be a fool. If on the other hand someone comes along and says they don't have all the answers but is confident about a certain esoteric truth then that is far more likely to have real value.

Ideas of good and evil, gods and devils, are merely symbols of deeper religious values, cosmic values if you will, that cannot be translated into physical terms (Seth Speaks, Chapter 21, Session 586).
