DroidX does suck. I'm on my third replacement in 3 months and verizon says there's nothing they will do for me but keep replacing lemons with lemons. they blame it on Motorol and Motorola blames it on Verizon.
just got one yesterday and i really like it :) but im new to smartphones, and i dont know how to work it to its full potential yet. Ive been trying to make it vibrate when i get a text message, but for some reason i cant get it to vibrate when i get a text. it vibrates when i get a call though. i went to settings and put it on Vibrate: always. But it still wont vibrate. Can anyone help me please?
i feel your pain half my screens is screwed up didnt drop it didnt put any pressure on the screen and it screws up in a week wtf gettn my new one tomorrow though
@albokidnj 2 weeks..? That's nothing! Ö_ö Does it still work now after 5 months? If some phone doesn't work after 4 days or 5 months it's bullshit and it's kinda illegal to even sell shit like that. My Nokia phone stopped working after 2 years and 3 months just when the guarantee ended of course :D and I think that even 2 years is too short time for phone to work
i have a lot of problem w/ my droid x too, all you have to do is take the battery of and put it back on there, i have done this at least 30 times since i got my phone, i think i might have a LEMON!
nothing like this ever happend to my phone but on my droid x after i leave it idle for like 20 mins come back unlock it and the screen wont react when i touch it and like 1 min later it reacts and the the screen clears all icons then they come back and it dose that over agian then i got to reset my phone just to make it work
my phone will turn on and is fine untill i put in the unlock code, then it turns black, i can use voice search and then the screen works fine but i cant use the home button to go to the home screen all i can use it for multitasking, also if i press the screen no apps open... really weird
Ahhh. this was fun. time for some sleep. i love droid. and im not a fanboy. just like verizon for great service. with them for about 5 years now and had lets say.... 2 dropped calls total. flip phones sliders touch screens... all good. though i like my friends Iphone... its at the dump now. he shot it. :) True fanboy that guy.
Verizon is shipping new ones out august 20th...like new ones are coming instock that won't be defective that's why you don't buy phones once they first come out.
I had a problem with my droid x too. The bottom 1/2" of the screen didn't respond to touch events. Verizon refused to call this a defect and charged me $35 restocking fee. I have the iPhone 4 now.
Hey Raverk7 it is known that a few models of Droid X have screen problems, so I advise you to return the Droid X for a replacement, shouldn't be too much of a problem. Stuff happens during the manufacturing process that you can't always catch.
Thanks for the update raverk7. Good to know that switching to Verizon may have been a good decision after all. I've heard good things about the coverage and it sounds like their customer service is good too. I get my x tomorrow so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it isn't one of the few defective ones.
@rruready Sorry, let me correct myself before some Apple sheep do it. Apple did accept responsibility, but only after it made national news and Brian Williams snickered at Apple's bullsh!t lol.
@derek21023 Yeah that's great keep giving your money to a company that wants to blame users for their faulty products. At least Motorola and Verizon have come forward and accepted responsibility to fix this, unlike Apple.
@derek21023 You need to get the facts straight and educate yourself on the subject before posting misinformed bullshit, kid. Stop eating shit from your goldenboy Steve, fanboy. Go play bumpercars with your iPhone, sheep.
@derek21023 A full recall for a problem that only occurs on .1% of the phones?
"Jobs cited figures from AppleCare which showed that only 0.55 percent of all iPhone 4 users have complained to the company about the [Antenna] issue..."
Funny thing too, people on here act like they've never heard of mass producing electronic devices...there will always be defective ones. All it takes is one bad batch of one part, that can cause this on a small percentage of the phones. It's how the company responds to it that shows what the company is made of. Now telling the consumers that they are at fault....THAT'S CLASS.
Verizon's response to the Droid X screen issue: The phone launched last Thursday. Soon after, scattered reports of problems with the display started to surface. This past Tuesday, the companies issued a statement acknowledging the glitch -- it affected less than a tenth of 1 percent of all devices, they say -- and offered replacements for all defective units.
The number of people here defending a flawed screen that makes it unusable is surprising. I was being sarcastic that Android users might actually defend their own serious problems because it's not an iPhone. That is like defending a car that you bought that doesn't have a working ignition. There should be no defense - you should admit they screwed up with your phone. If you really feel that Verizon did you right with your defective screen, you should not be asking for a replacement.
This looks like the problem Motorola just said they were sending an over-the-air update to fix. Not sure if the phone can still receive updates in this state, though. Might be fixed before the new one arrives.
Droid X's are enabled with a special fuse that blows when the phone's software is tampered with, like trying to hack the phone to unlock the root. It built in to prevent such hacks, but in your case, I think it's a stupid Motorola thing.
Man, I would pe so pissed if my Droid X did that. Good thing it it a defective phone that can be exchanged and not a design flaw that you are stuck with.
@Rohanlal1- lol just one defective unit? haha thats funny.....so if just one defective unit has this issue....then why did motorola and verizon come out with a public statement acknowledging this issue and stating they either have a fix or are working on a fix? Seems like a lot to do for just one unit...this just isnt getting blown up like the iPhone, because no one gives a fuck about droid phones....imagine if this happened to an iPhone...it would be all over tha news and front page everywhere
@7o7munoz7o7 It seems that the issue is not problem itself but how a company (Apple, Verizon, Motorola, etc.) handles the issues. Apple denied the problem at the beginning. Apple said " Do not hold the phone that way"...it is the "user fault".
Verizon and Motorola are taking responsibility for the issue from the beginning. This problem with the display is a manufacturing defect. With Six Sigma specs, you will still get escape defects....but with Apple, is was a design problem for ALL iPHones.
@RadioGuru100-i have been able to replicate the issue but not by a simple touch of the phone. You really do have to have horrible sig. to begin with, and then give it that death grip. There are tons of iPhone 4 users that dont have any issue at all. I have the iPhone 3g and i am able to make the signal go down my holding it and griping the way shown. I also tested with a nexus one, and same thing happens there. not specific to just an iPhone 4. It just gets blown up because its apple
@7o7munoz7o7 Ok...I will try to be nice with you because it seems you mean well but do not understand what is going on. Here you go: There are two issues here:
1.- Signal degradation due to pathloss and shadowing. This is normal in all phones. If you cover the antenna, the signal will degrade, maybe 3 to 10 dB.
2.- Antenna detuning due to impedance distortion. This is the real problem with the antenna on the iPhone4. This is cause 30 to 40 dB attenuation. Only low quality phones have this issue.
@Rohanlal1- i have used it with my right hand, left hand and same thing. there is nothing to admit...its a great phone...of course not a perfect phone, but a damn good one.
@RadioGuru100-and how would you handle an issue where the media is making a big deal of something that is not even an issue specific to iPhone. you have to have the right circumstances in order to make it do that. and no one holds their phone with that crazy death grip for normal use...just media blowing shit up.
@7o7munoz7o7 No my friend....this is a real problem with the iPHone4. Chamber testing of the iPhone4 have shown 30 to 40 dB attenuation (this is about 1024 times less signal) in terms of TIS (Total Isotropic Sensitivity) between free spance vs. Phantom HEAD + Hand on WCDMA PCS band. On 850MHz band, the attenuation is about 20 dB. Only really crappy phones have this issue. High end phones like the DROID X do not have this problem.
@7o7munoz7o7 Hey...I think the iPHone4 is a very pretty phone....the colors and OS is also nice...but it has a major design problem. Drop call rates are the highest for this phone on AT&T. See...good phone are about 0.6% drop call rate. iPhone4 is about 1.7% drop call rate...that number may sound small for you, but when you have millions of call attempts per day, this number is too big. Standard industry practice targets for less than 0.8% drop call rate.
@RadioGuru100- i agree that the drop call rates that were put up are pretty high. I honestly have not had any dropped calls with my iPhone 4. Im not sayin people dont have drop calls but their could be other issues at hand. I have relatively ok to average coverage where i live, but hardly have dropped calls even when i had my 3g. I dont think i have a super iPhone 4 or anything like that at all...
@7o7munoz7o7 How do you handle a problem like this: First take responsibility for the problem. DO not blame the user or point at other vendors. Let me use an analogy...let's say your girlfriend or wife tells you...hey....I do not like it when you leave the wet towel on the floor after you take a shower. I bet that if you say...well...then do not look at the floor....she will not be happy....but if you take responsibility for it and pick up the towel...that night she will give you a BJ...
@7o7munoz7o7 Funny....MOTOROLA and VERIZON come out to take responsibility as soon as the problem was reported...hey...they did not say...well..."then do not put your phone in sleep mode for hours".
This is can be FIXED!!!!! no problem....this is not a design problem....this is really a minor defect....but an antenna issue....is a MAJOR design defect....get it?????
@7o7munoz7o7 its not a design flaw. it doesnt plague ALL the droid x phones, but only a few of them. the iphone's sensor and reception problem plagues ALL of the iphones because its a design flaw. and even then, Verizon and Motorola made a public statement about it within a few days of its launch.in fact, it took fewer days for VZ/Moto to make a statement than it took Apple.if you are an apple fanboy (which you clearly are) then go post on some apple product's video
@7o7munoz7o7 First, the antenna issue with the iPhone was a lot more serious problem. Second, Apple was responsible for this design mistake and they denied it. Instead they are pointing at other "smart phones" saying...hey look over there...they also have problems. Third, only APPLE makes the claims that they build the best phone in the world and they are reinventing the phone....so if they pretend to sold the best phone then they should prove it with quality not only looks...
@RadioGuru100-first....antenna issue is bigger then ur screen not working at all and stuck in a strobe light rave mode..second the issue DOES happen with other phones. never realized it till all this crap but i have tried it with other phones, and it does happen...and apple DOES make the best products...and most innovative...people just seriously talk hella shit because apple cant be beat....
@7o7munoz7o7 PHYSICS is timeless and applies to every phone (APPLE, MOTOROLA, HTC, NOKIA, etc.) but the issue of antenna detuning that degrades the signal 30 to 40 dB ONLY OCCURS with iPHONE4. Everybody else have signal attenuation of 3 to 10 dB...understand the difference: 10 dB = 8 times degradation vs. 30 dB = 1024 times degradation....see the problem here...
This is like saying...well...all cars have accidents....yes...but the APPLE car has accidents because the breaks do not work...
@7o7munoz7o7 Just know, that any of these "problems" people are having with their Droids...it doesn't even happen anymore! This vid was posted MONTHS ago, back when 2.2 wasn't even out yet. Even then, there weren't hardly any problems, and me, I've had my DroidX for awhile now, and it's working perfectly. So it's you, verses...well, practically every single other Droid owner. You lose. Go home and get some real facts.
@TheFreebornFanatic- lol alright...so we werent even talking about this issue right now..we were talking about you saying droids are the most liked and most wanted...THATS where you know nothing about...AND if this issue is so old..and isnt happening...then why the fuck are you looking for this issue and watching this video...and commenting on such an old post....your an idiot and im done there is nothing worth arguing here...write back all you want my responses end here =D
@7o7munoz7o7 That's part of the issue, dumbass. You are obviously an Apple fucktard who doesn't know what quality is when he sees it. You are heavily outnumbered my friend, by all the Droid owners who swear by their phones, and all the ones who switched from Apple and swore they'd never go back.
You're not going to reply to me? Well, maybe not, but we both know you'll read this.
@TheFreebornFanatic iphones better so stfu. its closed so that no bad apps get in the app store, and there will be less people complaining that their phones don't work.
@loverofpie32 No, iPhones are not better. So STFU. You obviously don't know what the fuck you're talking about. I already pwned other morons, I'd shut up if I were you.
@TheFreebornFanatic no im not gonna shut up. cause that was a joke comment. i don't like iphones, the only things i like are the apps and jailbreaking. I want to get a droid x2 if i go to verizon or if i stay with at&t im getting an atrix. right now im using a tilt 2
It's a malfunction that only one in tens of thousands of phones has. Yet unlike a certain iProduct the manufacturer issued a statement about it immediately, even though there are so few of the phones with any sort of issues.
Guess they could have followed in the footsteps of Jeve Stobbs and told him something like "You're holding it wrong! You should be shaking it up and down." "If you wanna blame your customers instead of taking responsibility? - Theres even an app for that!"
This phone is great. A worthy iphone competitor. In my opinion, a better phone in different aspects. Im glad i got this and not the iphone. No dropped calls in the week ive had it, the phone/speaker phone works clear.
Man what the hell is going on with new phones these days. The evo battery is shit and the screens peeling off. The iphone 4 some people are having antenna issues. And now the droid x screen is fucked up. What the hell is going on here.
Stop comparing this to the iphone problem, the iphone problem occurs on all iphone 4s. This only happens on a select few and they replace it with a non-defected one.
@SamDuud I has been stated numerous times that it was a design flaw and all the IPhone 4 are the same design. It was also found that many technical experts raised concerns about the antenna's location, and they actively choose not to fix the issue with the design, instead they are going to give everyone a plastic bumper ... these are the facts given by Apple employees. Apple aside, they are both manufactured devices, and everything manufactured is bound to have some defects pass by inspectors.
i bought ther Droid X on the first day.. nothing is wrong with mine.. yea obviously that one has a defect.. verizon will just give you another one.. unlike att they will just give you an ugly bumper that you wouldnt want to put on there anyways.. imagine if the droid X you would have to put a bumper... i would say get the hell outta here with that.. thats what buying insurance is supposed to be for right???
That's a nasty issue there. Disappointing I'm sure. At least Verizon and Motorola are acknowledging the issue and will provide a replacement unit when they are able to.
I have the iPhone 4. I've not had issues with the antenna although I CAN reproduce the problem. But the problem is more elusive. It isn't actually the antenna design at fault. Of the two places you can bridge the antennas, only one causes attenuation. So the problem is something else. An issue with the radios perhaps.
@Casual864 - ONE TENTH OF ONE PERCENT or .001% of these phones have this issue, and Motorola has come forward and said, Look, we know it's a problem, and we are replacing the customer's devices with new, non-defective devices. How many Iphones have been "defective" like the one that caught FIRE? Or better yet, how many IPhones have the attenna issue?? 100%? Yeah ... I have to laugh because you have to either put more plastic on your phone ot "hold it differently!" LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
@jameslkerr Get a clue. If 0.001% of the over 3 million units they sold in the first 3 weeks had caught on fire you would probably see a recall. Also, most of the iPhone users I know don't have reception issues and can't replicate the problem, some can, but most cannot. So get real not 100% of phones are bugged. Motorola and Verizon just handled this better.
Same problem here. And unfortunately, no matter what you try Verizon will not replace a DOA phone ahead of any new order, so it's back to waiting several more weeks, hopefully getting one that works this time.
The only good news to share is that if you ask for a supervisor, it seems relatively easy to convince them of their own faults and they at least agreed to shipping FedEx P1 (for when it does ship) and also giving a 10% discount on my service for the next 6 months.
All phones and electronic devices tend to have a few defective units. This is not a design flaw of any kind just happened to be a defective unit. I'm pretty sure that most people have had to deal with a defective electronic device or find that they have problems after a while. This is why they made warranties.
@veshio name calling, bad grammar and misspelled words. Unfortunately, you seem to be more and more representative of the Fandroids trying to justify your poor choice of phone (as evidenced by this video) You probably won't be able to help yourself and reply with more name calling and bad grammar. I feel sorry for you that you need to stoop to that level.
Yea apple said hold it differently dumbass, because it's just a antenna issue, not a major defect such as screen glitching. Can't hate on apple 3 million in 3 weeks, must be doing something right.
@JCapJCrew If by "right" you mean Apple and S. Jobs herding the sheeple, then you're right. Apple's lost a lot of customers because of this issue. Just admit it, Apple messed up big-time. All iPhones (no exception) suffer from the same B.S. flaw. You're just mad 'cause you jumped into the cult that is apple, expecting to be all "cool" and "hip" with your overrated product but instead you were called stupid by Stevie Boy for holding the phone the wrong way. Way to go champ.
Verizon and Motorola have confirmed that a small number of initial Droid X units have issues with display banding and flickering. The carrier has also stated that Motorola has rectified the issue and is continuing to manufacture and ship the device as normal, recommending that any customers experiencing such issues contact Motorola customer support and/or Verizon Wireless.
This seems worse than the iPhone 4 problem... And not fixable by holding it differently or putting a case on it... Will people defend this screen issue?
@ckuehne I will defend this. This problem is not near as widespread as the iPhone issue. Also, Verizon is replacing my phone with one that works. If you were to get a replacement iPhone it would have the same problem as it is a design flaw, not an isolated defective unit.
@raverk7 to say it is not as widespread you need to look at scale of units sold. The majority of iPhone users were NOT experiencing issues, but those that were had a bigger voice and since Apple has taken the market they were put under harsher criticism. I am not saying that Apple phones were perfect, they weren't; but you can't say this was a smaller issue either. It was just handled a lot better.
@SumDuud That's not entirely true. The iPhone 4 design flaw affects all units, some people naturally avoid holding it that way, like myself. I love my iPhone 4, but I won't deny the major design flaw. I'm just fortunate in the way I hold my phone - it literally comes down to that.
@raverk7 I honestly don't feel this screen problem OR the iPhone problem is as widespread as either side wants it to be. As Apple stated only .55% of users that called applecare have reported reception issues, many testers cannot replicate the problem (including consumer reports one video), and the countless reports of users that also could not replicate the problem either. As for the Droid X - there are some growing issues, but also not widespread. No phone is perfect.
@endlessdream94 heh, I replicated the iPhone4 reception fault IN the apple store. I stopped giggling at it long enough to walk out quickly and quietly before an employee accused me of breaking it for my own amusement.
@taelok Not sure if your comment to me was trying to "put me in my place" and show me that the iPhone has reception problems. I was merely just saying that not everyone has even been able to successfully replicate the problem. I didn't say "nobody" has been able to. I was able to reduce the bars on my Sony Ericsson Vivaz and have seen countless vids of other smartphones with similar problems. My interjection was merely to point out no phone is perfect.
@ckuehne CNET reports that, "the defect apparently affects only a small number of phones--around one tenth of 1 percent, according to Verizon."................ On another CNET article, It was estimated the recall on the iPhone "would cost 1.5 billion dollars." Over a simple preventable antenna design flaw, which was brought to Steve Job's attention before major production!!!
@ckuehne I will also defend this issue. One thing is a design defect that will affect ALL the production line. Other thing is a manufacturing defect that will only affect a small percentage of the production. This display do not seem to be a design defect. If you get a replacement problem solve.
I wonder why APPLE is not offering to "replace" iPhone4 with problems? think about that....
@airhead1127 Really do you believe that? I've an iphone 4 and haven't faced any problem what so ever. It is the people who don't own the device and just like to bitch.
less then 1 % people complained about the problem to applecare.
@yasir25119918 Well if you're okay with supporting a company that likes to blame the consumer for Apple's f-up, have fun with your iphone 4. That is by far, the worst business model I have ever heard of. I can hear the corporate meetings now: Jobs-"Remember, it's not 'The customer is always right', instead, when they complain, just point the finger and blame them'" lol. Continue to follow the herd, I will find my own way. I'm selling my 3gs for an X. At least if it's broken, they won't blame me.
@airhead1127- and how many droid x devices were sold....apple offers replacements, full money back and everything...same shit...and even the phones that are affected (none that i have seen in real life) are still usable....can you use a droid x when the phone goes into disco mode? i would say THATS more serious...get outta here you airhead
@7o7munoz7o7 Yeah, but only after telling the consumer that it was their fault for holding it wrong. Do you seriously think that it's okay ANY company to sit there and blame the consumer for something that is obviously not their fault? Only after this story hit national news with Brian Williams did they offer bumpers. Apple has completely turned me off of their products with this and I'm selling my 3gs for a droid x. At least then, if I get a bad one, I won't have Moto telling me it's my fault.
@rruready72-lol ok....please sell ur phone...i hate knowing people like you own such fine products. have fun with ur disco rave flashing Droid X. That should be the life of the party!
@7o7munoz7o7 Well considering I haven't even received mine, it's funny you assume I will be the .0001% that this happens too. I guess if we're assuming what will happen to each other's phones, have fun with your phone dropping calls in the future and the proximity sensor issue!!! Not to mention the fact that Jobs will blame you for it lol.

Funny thing too, people on here act like they've never heard of mass producing electronic devices...there will always be defective ones. All it takes is one bad batch of one part, that can cause this on a small percentage of the phones. It's how the company responds to it that shows what the company is made of. Now telling the consumers that they are at fault....THAT'S CLASS.
rruready72 1 year ago
Verizon's response to the Droid X screen issue: The phone launched last Thursday. Soon after, scattered reports of problems with the display started to surface. This past Tuesday, the companies issued a statement acknowledging the glitch -- it affected less than a tenth of 1 percent of all devices, they say -- and offered replacements for all defective units.
airhead1127 1 year ago
That took five days. Apple's response, which never actually accepted responsibility for the flaw, took 22.
airhead1127 1 year ago
The number of people here defending a flawed screen that makes it unusable is surprising. I was being sarcastic that Android users might actually defend their own serious problems because it's not an iPhone. That is like defending a car that you bought that doesn't have a working ignition. There should be no defense - you should admit they screwed up with your phone. If you really feel that Verizon did you right with your defective screen, you should not be asking for a replacement.
ckuehne 1 year ago
This looks like the problem Motorola just said they were sending an over-the-air update to fix. Not sure if the phone can still receive updates in this state, though. Might be fixed before the new one arrives.

Droid X's are enabled with a special fuse that blows when the phone's software is tampered with, like trying to hack the phone to unlock the root. It built in to prevent such hacks, but in your case, I think it's a stupid Motorola thing.

7o7munoz7o7 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 It seems that the issue is not problem itself but how a company (Apple, Verizon, Motorola, etc.) handles the issues. Apple denied the problem at the beginning. Apple said " Do not hold the phone that way"...it is the "user fault".
Verizon and Motorola are taking responsibility for the issue from the beginning. This problem with the display is a manufacturing defect. With Six Sigma specs, you will still get escape defects....but with Apple, is was a design problem for ALL iPHones.
RadioGuru100 1 year ago 2
@RadioGuru100-i have been able to replicate the issue but not by a simple touch of the phone. You really do have to have horrible sig. to begin with, and then give it that death grip. There are tons of iPhone 4 users that dont have any issue at all. I have the iPhone 3g and i am able to make the signal go down my holding it and griping the way shown. I also tested with a nexus one, and same thing happens there. not specific to just an iPhone 4. It just gets blown up because its apple
7o7munoz7o7 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 Ok...I will try to be nice with you because it seems you mean well but do not understand what is going on. Here you go: There are two issues here:
1.- Signal degradation due to pathloss and shadowing. This is normal in all phones. If you cover the antenna, the signal will degrade, maybe 3 to 10 dB.
2.- Antenna detuning due to impedance distortion. This is the real problem with the antenna on the iPhone4. This is cause 30 to 40 dB attenuation. Only low quality phones have this issue.
RadioGuru100 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 Apple put the antenna right where people usually touch the phone
on other phones, designers place the antennas in places that a human doesnt usually touch the phone when using it
so if you tried it on the nexus one, you were obviously holding it in an unusual spot
while on the iphone 4, any left-handed person will have an issue
face it, apple messed up
just admit it and move on
just because apple didnt admit it, doesnt mean you cant
stop arguing here
go argue on an iphone 4's video
Rohanlal1 1 year ago

@7o7munoz7o7 listen dude
i agree the iphone 4 is a great phone
all the iphones are
but there was a design flaw that apple didnt pay attention to, or just ignored
there was also a screen issue in some of the droid x phones (like in the vid)
i admit it
but it doesnt apply to all the droid x phones
anyway, iOs and Android is awesome, and so are all the phones that use them
lets stop arguing

@RadioGuru100-and how would you handle an issue where the media is making a big deal of something that is not even an issue specific to iPhone. you have to have the right circumstances in order to make it do that. and no one holds their phone with that crazy death grip for normal use...just media blowing shit up.
7o7munoz7o7 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 No my friend....this is a real problem with the iPHone4. Chamber testing of the iPhone4 have shown 30 to 40 dB attenuation (this is about 1024 times less signal) in terms of TIS (Total Isotropic Sensitivity) between free spance vs. Phantom HEAD + Hand on WCDMA PCS band. On 850MHz band, the attenuation is about 20 dB. Only really crappy phones have this issue. High end phones like the DROID X do not have this problem.
RadioGuru100 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 Hey...I think the iPHone4 is a very pretty phone....the colors and OS is also nice...but it has a major design problem. Drop call rates are the highest for this phone on AT&T. See...good phone are about 0.6% drop call rate. iPhone4 is about 1.7% drop call rate...that number may sound small for you, but when you have millions of call attempts per day, this number is too big. Standard industry practice targets for less than 0.8% drop call rate.
RadioGuru100 1 year ago
@RadioGuru100- i agree that the drop call rates that were put up are pretty high. I honestly have not had any dropped calls with my iPhone 4. Im not sayin people dont have drop calls but their could be other issues at hand. I have relatively ok to average coverage where i live, but hardly have dropped calls even when i had my 3g. I dont think i have a super iPhone 4 or anything like that at all...
7o7munoz7o7 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 How do you handle a problem like this: First take responsibility for the problem. DO not blame the user or point at other vendors. Let me use an analogy...let's say your girlfriend or wife tells you...hey....I do not like it when you leave the wet towel on the floor after you take a shower. I bet that if you say...well...then do not look at the floor....she will not be happy....but if you take responsibility for it and pick up the towel...that night she will give you a BJ...
RadioGuru100 1 year ago
@RadioGuru100 :) facts.
barnabyray11 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 Funny....MOTOROLA and VERIZON come out to take responsibility as soon as the problem was reported...hey...they did not say...well..."then do not put your phone in sleep mode for hours".
This is can be FIXED!!!!! no problem....this is not a design problem....this is really a minor defect....but an antenna issue....is a MAJOR design defect....get it?????
RadioGuru100 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 its not a design flaw. it doesnt plague ALL the droid x phones, but only a few of them. the iphone's sensor and reception problem plagues ALL of the iphones because its a design flaw. and even then, Verizon and Motorola made a public statement about it within a few days of its launch.in fact, it took fewer days for VZ/Moto to make a statement than it took Apple.if you are an apple fanboy (which you clearly are) then go post on some apple product's video
dont waste ur time
get a life
Rohanlal1 1 year ago
@7o7munoz7o7 First, the antenna issue with the iPhone was a lot more serious problem. Second, Apple was responsible for this design mistake and they denied it. Instead they are pointing at other "smart phones" saying...hey look over there...they also have problems. Third, only APPLE makes the claims that they build the best phone in the world and they are reinventing the phone....so if they pretend to sold the best phone then they should prove it with quality not only looks...
RadioGuru100 1 year ago
@RadioGuru100-first....antenna issue is bigger then ur screen not working at all and stuck in a strobe light rave mode..second the issue DOES happen with other phones. never realized it till all this crap but i have tried it with other phones, and it does happen...and apple DOES make the best products...and most innovative...people just seriously talk hella shit because apple cant be beat....
7o7munoz7o7 1 year ago

RICHARD5950 1 year ago
That's a nasty issue there. Disappointing I'm sure. At least Verizon and Motorola are acknowledging the issue and will provide a replacement unit when they are able to.
I have the iPhone 4. I've not had issues with the antenna although I CAN reproduce the problem. But the problem is more elusive. It isn't actually the antenna design at fault. Of the two places you can bridge the antennas, only one causes attenuation. So the problem is something else. An issue with the radios perhaps.
Fudmottin 1 year ago
@Casual864 - ONE TENTH OF ONE PERCENT or .001% of these phones have this issue, and Motorola has come forward and said, Look, we know it's a problem, and we are replacing the customer's devices with new, non-defective devices.

Verizon and Motorola have confirmed that a small number of initial Droid X units have issues with display banding and flickering. ckuehne 1 year ago
@ckuehne I will defend this. This problem is not near as widespread as the iPhone issue. Also, Verizon is replacing my phone with one that works. If you were to get a replacement iPhone it would have the same problem as it is a design flaw, not an isolated defective unit.
raverk7 1 year ago 49
@raverk7 I agree with you. Motorola already responded and said bring it to Verizon and it will be replaced. Apple said HOLD IT DIFFERENTLY LOL
OChristFollower 1 year ago
@OChristFollower they had a press conference
cesarthebomb 1 year ago
@raverk7 to say it is not as widespread you need to look at scale of units sold. The majority of iPhone users were NOT experiencing issues, but those that were had a bigger voice and since Apple has taken the market they were put under harsher criticism. I am not saying that Apple phones were perfect, they weren't; but you can't say this was a smaller issue either. It was just handled a lot better.
SumDuud 1 year ago
@SumDuud That's not entirely true. The iPhone 4 design flaw affects all units, some people naturally avoid holding it that way, like myself. I love my iPhone 4, but I won't deny the major design flaw. I'm just fortunate in the way I hold my phone - it literally comes down to that.
andy9l 1 year ago
@raverk7 And Besides, Apple isn't giving a free replacement
ocanator 1 year ago
@raverk7 I honestly don't feel this screen problem OR the iPhone problem is as widespread as either side wants it to be. As Apple stated only .55% of users that called applecare have reported reception issues, many testers cannot replicate the problem (including consumer reports one video), and the countless reports of users that also could not replicate the problem either. As for the Droid X - there are some growing issues, but also not widespread. No phone is perfect.

@taelok Not sure if your comment to me was trying to "put me in my place" and show me that the iPhone has reception problems.
Yeah I will defend it too.
Face it. Your God is only a man. (Steve Jobs)
pwjewell 1 year ago
@ckuehne I will also defend this issue. One thing is a design defect that will affect ALL the production line. Other thing is a manufacturing defect that will only affect a small percentage of the production. This display do not seem to be a design defect. If you get a replacement problem solve.
I wonder why APPLE is not offering to "replace" iPhone4 with problems? think about that....
