I use DCC on my indoor layout. I would NOT recommend DCC for an outdoor layout. We all have a difficult time keeping the track and wheels clean enough for the electrical contact DCC requires. I would recommend you use rechargeable batteries and radio control outdoors. Everyone likes the radio control system best.
