I've seen some movies that Tartan Asia Extreme has released such as Natural City and Oldboy. I used to own Tetsuo II: Body Hammer and it was a pretty messed up flick. I haven't seen the first one or the even the third one for that matter.
A few notes: the metals fetishist is played by the director. Shinya Tsukamoto also played the character controlling Ichi in Ichi the Killer.
And yeah, mondo pretty much summed up the plot. In addition, there's a definite gay subtext. Some interpret it as about a man accepting his own homosexuality.
But main thing I love about Tetsuo is its incredible energy created with some fantastic editing cinematography and industrial music. The sequel is lethargic in comparison. Haven't seen the third
The movie can be easily describe as a revenge film, the metal fetish man is getting revenge of tetsuo (by turning him into the object that he desires, in this case metal) for running him over/killing him.
Have you seen the second film? it has a much more linear plot and is much easier into "get into" than the first (plus it has some great cinematography).
