  • i only like the first 2 minutes and 52 seconds..sorry. "daddy" tore it UP!

  • It is obvious that James Moore is a second generation musician and singer. He is a natural continuation of a spirit that had not completely developed. So far as his teeth. He was loosing them because of his health. Diabetes destroys the bone and gum structure. Dentures would not help him.

  • worship, yes, Bless the Lord

  • Dentures might mess up his flow. . . He was rocking it... and so were they...

  • @Pateg7 Exactly, I heard him say the interfered with his singing.

  • All I can Say iz MOORRSUMM and spell it out thataway.. all Music whether it be R&B, Rock, Soul, etc .on and on; Came from the Spirtuals like this and all others .Thank Goodness we have had Choirs like this To keep that Horn Blowing ever so Loudly..Powerfully Proudly ....

  • I just wonder after all that success that Rev. Moore had why he never, ever got his dentures....I mean....

  • @cohdee01 lol there are some videos where he has a full set of teeth. I don't know if this is before or after tho. I thought the same thing tho..lmao.

  • @cohdee01 I heard James Moore say one time that the dentures interfered with his singing. Sometimes he would sing with just the top plate.

  • R Lofton is playn on dem keys!!!! Awesome

  • nailed this one. everybody! one of my old school favorites.

  • I remember this hymn from when I was a small child. It has always been in my heart and on my mind. I'm pressing on...................

  • That end chord was one of the greatest ever.

  • There is one current choir is is good but does not get much recognition and they are called New Direction.

  • These new choirs these days suck none like these Old School people.

  • Man! I miss J.M. That man knew he could sing! Not a voice like his 'till this day.

  • I am a Spiritual Baptist, but I must say I am in some way sorry he is not with us anymore. I would have love to have met him! He is absolutely a Star for Jesus. He is an example to people of how to truely live and praise Jesus! God bless him!

The title of the track is "I'm Pressing On" not higher ground. It's number #6 on the CD,

  • This is the best arrangement of "Higher Ground" ever!!! I've heard some before this one and some after, THIS ONE IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you brother Moore and MMC. Thank you.

  • I want to reach higher and higher!!!

  • i ve got to score the chords of this song and the bass line .

  • What I wouldn't do to see the music to that bassline!!!

  • @csharp57 Look man!!! This song is so hot!! Mississippi Mass Choir has always had the BEST basslines on EVERY song. But I know what you mean. This one has that make you wanna slap somebody bass line. Through the ENTIRE song!!!

  • Best vocalists??Best singer?? Scripture says, we ALL are to sing to the Lord!! This is entertainment for the people watching. We are to ALL praise the Lord. Not sit back and be entertained! Read the Word!

  • すげえええ!

    しびれたああああ!

  • Sorry,,,

That's very amazing! Anyhow it's wonderful. Because it was very wonderful, I was very impressed.

  • When my son Meshach was about three I use to play this tape over and over. One day I heard him singing the words, clear as day. He knew all the words at 3. I laugh just thinking back.

  • To madridsistah -- after reading your testimony I feel like hollering what I love to hear a good Baptist preacher holler, "Won't He Do It?!?!?!" Go 'head and TESTIFY UP IN HERE on YouTube!

  • Higher Ground! Soon Children we are going to see the King, say YEA!

  • amen amen we will be caught up to meet him in the sky thank you jesus.

  • When I think about where I was when these songs by MCC was released in 1990, it gives me chills. I am so blessed to be alive. God brought me out of one storm after another! Gracias Dios Mio!!! You see life in a totally different light when you're delivered from depression and suicide! In 19 years a degree, travels around the world, published writings, a career (English Professor) and so much more! I hung on like He said, he took me places I never dreamnt I'd see! Hallelujah!

  • You aint lying about the chills! I.m sitting here crying like a baby!! lol

  • this was 89

  • @madridsistah That is a beautiful testamony. We complain about a lot in life, but you made me realize some people been through a lot more than others. such as myself. Never thought about suicide, but God had brought me from a mighty long way. thanks for that. I needed to read that.

  • @madridsistah - Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I can relate to what you are testifiying to. God has taken me to higher places and allowed me to achieve things that I never DREAMED I would ever accomplish. But I now know that I can do ALL THINGS through HE who strengthens me!! Hallejah!!

  • Thanks so very much for posting these MMC vids! They bring back so many wonderful memories!!!! I love it!!!! Rev. James Moore R.I.P was one of the greatest and best vocallist ever!!!!

  • wow he dont even have to open his mouth all the way to sing good.lol...i like his voice. Grew up listening to the MMC and this is the first time i seen his face.

  • I grew up listening to them also, and I didn't imagine him singing so effortlessly!!! This is one of my favs... He KILLS this song! I love it!!!

  • This should teach all of us of all faiths that what we do in life can and will affect people long after we are gone. Rev. Moore may be deceased, as humans

understand, but his spirit lives on and affects people long after he left his earthly tabernacle. What a lesson in life!!!!!

  • I have listened to this song so many times, I know every move Rev. Moore and the choir members are going to make next. This is a powerful song and should

be a stepping stone for all Christians to

achieve. We all need our feet planted on

Higher Ground. I love the annointing of

    this man and this choir!!!!

  • As I sit here and watch these videos, its a little sad to believe that they are this old with the wonderful singing that goes on in these clips. It really makes you miss the late greats more and more...the late Mr. Frank Williams and the late Rev. James Moore. Others like Lillian Lily, Mama Burks. Michael Cox who help lead I Wont Turn Back and Ms. Emma Curry. All greats of this choir just to name a few.

  • That man wuz bad!! he will be miss!!

  • wow...james moore...

  • Thank you for this post!

  • that run was krazy at 1:50!!! beast!!

  • They really rock the house with this song....this my first time watching and I'm amazed!!!!

  • Wow.... what a voice!

  • I know yall see the shoes at 1:40 ! LOL! We all used to dress like that back in da day !

  • This is back when choirs used to SAAAANG not sing, and if you notice, they tear it up without all the theatrics and jumping around like they wild! Love it!

  • I know exactly what you mean. This one reason i love going home to my family church none of that kirk franklin and crap just good ol time church!

  • James Moore is one of the greatest. His singing can touch ya to your very core.

  • the man was the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what voice...I studied him for so long and still do! A gift that is STILL missed!!!

  • james....james...james!! Man we can't forget!!!!!! He and Daryl Coley...the original contemporary male vocalists!!!!!!!!!!!!
