As far as this group, it is not traditional mariachi but it is GREAT music. It is fusing some traditional folk elements of mariachi music such as instruments and some performance techniques with more modern practices. There is NO form of popular music that does not do that with some sort of folk music
Ive been a mariachi by choice for over 15 years. Im not defeated nor upset at being a mariachi. Im quite proud of it. Ive been fortunate enough to make a good living at it and travel with great ensembles. Jefferson is way off in his generalization of mariachis although I understand what he is referring too. Those are not the only kind of mariachis out there though.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry...everyone wants to be a mariachi. This is NOT a mariachi it's gimmick. Just because you TRY to dress as a mariachi and carry mariachi instruments does not make you one.
quebarbarita know it all, I'm pretty sure NO ONE wants to be a mariachi, not even the mariachi themselves. They just stand there in the corner of my local Mexican restaurant, strumming away, looking so defeated, longing to just sit down with me and my friends and enjoy a tasty burrito. I appreciate what they do, and I don't blame them for not wanting to wear those foolish hats and dance around for the white man.

I don't usually respond to youtube comments like this but I felt like I needed to (lol). If The Bronx wants to introduce mariachi music to a generalized ENGLISH speaking audience he's doing mariachi music a very big favor.

i was at this show, Andrew W.K. was playing on the other emo's stage and it was hilarious. Also I wish they would hurry up and release this album.

This show was legendary. Maraichi El Bronx, Bronx, and ANDERW WK. What else is better.
