Thousands march for equal marriage rights in Australia

I know you want to be seen as equals within society and you totally deserve it, but marriage is the least of our worries at the moment... why not protest this HUGE government, who continues to give themselves wage increases every year and who are letting all the mining companies come over and rape our country?

Marriage is so trivial in comparison to the other things that will effect us for years to come.

@bushpigification Im glad that you support. But this is MUCH MORE than marriage. Many gay people feel in the dark because of many different reasons caused not because they are gay per se, but because of bigots that send hatred .

"Small things" such as marriage equality , allows for less prejudice and a sense of belonging to the rest of America.

This is in NO WAY a small thing, surely you wouldnt say civil rights for blacks or women were small. This is the same.

thanks for sharing the video. We got so caught up in the rally that we ended up taking no photos ourselves. I can see myself, my partner of 9 1/2 years and my equally gay brother from 0:50 holding the rainbow "EQUAL MARRIAGE RIGHTS NOW" placards.

To all who who were there, even those there in mind and heart, thank you for your support of marriage equality for all.

I asked my partner to marry me on our 9th anniversary, he said yes.

Now we just want to say "I DO".

The rally turned the experience of trying to cross the road in George Street an interesting experience. Normally people are happy to dodge cars but trying to dodge people to get to the other side is much more intimidating. A few people did brave it. I guess they just really needed to get to the other side.

@thegoodfairy10 I agree with BassLiberators. Based on your, somewhat insulting, logic the only people that would be allowed a license to wed are those who can procreate. So couples that cant have kids due to medical reasons are getting a free ride in your eyes as the only prerequisite that they meet is the fact they are of opposite gender? that a pretty narrow minded way to live.

@thegoodfairy10 I believe we were created to be the best we can be without hurting anyone so i fail to see how allowing the same gender to wed is going to hurt anyone. How can you live today and say that Marriage is a concept for those whom can reproduce when more and more children are being born out of wedlock also what will you do when the scientist perfect the ability for 2 women to conceive a child of their own, one of their genetics, hmmm?
