what's a good gear ratio to have in a double? front and rear... l currently have a 53-39 F...12-26 B...how would l do with that? and how high is it? anybody?
It's pretty standard, though you have a lower gear on the 12-26, a standard double usually runs a 12-25. It really depends on how strong you are. The pro's will even use lower gears (a compact) in their mountain races. (Though a mountain stage in TDF is a bit diff. than Mt. Diablo. Nobody can really answer this but you.
I look out my window in Livermore and see this mnt every day...dont race anymore but loved this ride..11 miles up in about 52 min and 11 miles down in like 20
