Rope was hard for me to get into, but patience and determination seem to have helped me a lot. I cannot seem to keep it up for more than a minute or two at a time so I jog maybe a hundred or two hundred yards to rest between 60 to 90 second of rope. My heart rate stays up and I get less frustrated by the rope. Interval training can also keep things fresh. I highly encourage jumping rope, its a good skill and fun exercise.
the rope alone is not what makes you lose weight, it is the intensity of your training. If you skip for 5 mins then it's nothing. Jump for 45mins 3-4times a week then you'll lose weight pretty much. Depends on your physical condition and genetics :P

hardly that mate, it comes when you try something different like...say week 1 you try and become the best you can without tricking. Then you advance 2nd week and try jumping from one leg to another side to side. 3rd week you try stomping with one foot infront of you then the other. 4th week you learn to cross, 5th week you learn how to throw rope side to side. It is all rhythm based, it doesn't take that long to get good at jumping rope m8.
when i jump rope...i get going pretty good good, then i trip over the rope, get going, trip again, trip, trip, the rope hits the light on the ceiling, gets caught, i throw it on the floor and go to something else...
but watching this makes me want to keep trying lol!
once you've jumped it normally on the way up cross your hands, but get your hands as far over as possible i.e. right hand as far over to the left as possible and left... etc etc you get it..
@bushchannel Well i aint overweight and the rope hit me in the back lol so what and its not nice talking down at people someday you'll change your weight won't always stay the same so lay off of over weight people and leave them alone I used to be overweight and the comments ppl make are diabolical why are they so obsessed

Great work! Just a suggestion - it would be more effective if you used a rope that you could see better (i.e. much more visual) as you jump with it. See my video, "Salsa Atlanta Georgia Greg Jump Rope Salsa 6". I'm not as good as you, but being able to see the rope as you jump makes the visual effect better. Again, very good jump roping!
This is a pretty good video. I agree that jump rope is great for getting some cardio and keeping it fun. For anyone that doubts roping can be macho or intense, look at Ross's vids.

I did a 450 mile cycle tour the week before, and then got back in the gym and did some skipping. My physio thinks the stress of all that cycling with a fully loaded bike, followed by a sudden switch back to skipping was too much for my tibia. Skipping is high impact and puts a lot of stress through the lower legs.

man she is got a great body and seems like a awesome chick but to be honest for anyone who wants to get super fit and build confedence get into thai boxing two hour full on cardio and learn how to defend urself too and learn the culture of the thai people, i say try to find a thai boxing gym in ur area and go try it out u wont be dissapointed its fantastic workout
I suck at jump rope.Good at running.Nothing is better than adding fun to a workout for getting in good shape.Best thing I ever did to get in super shape? Touch football twice a week in a league. No shit!

I would get a 10 ft one, 9.5 ft might work too but better to go longer and adjust the length than get one too short

urs is probably 9 feet long. it works fine for people around 5'4 - 6' since you are 6'4 you need a 10 foot long rope

man she is got a great body and seems like a awesome chick but to be honest for anyone who wants to get super fit and build confedence get into thai boxing two hour full on cardio and learn how to defend urself too and learn the culture of the thai people, i say try to find a thai boxing gym in ur area and go try it out u wont be dissapointed its fantastic workout

I suck at jump rope.Good at running.Nothing is better than adding fun to a workout for getting in good shape.Best thing I ever did to get in super shape? Touch football twice a week in a league. No shit!
