I suppose that The prophet Isaiah was a liar when he saidThe grass withers the flower faades but the word of
gtod is forever. Heb 13 v.8 says Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever and hesaid In Matt 5.v.17 to 20 Think ye not that I have come to change to law or the words of the prophets for varily I say unto you not one jot not one title shall in no case pass from the law till heaven and earth pass away and all be fulfilled. Who took the Bishops wife away from him?
if polygamy is against the teachings of the bible, then whats this? Exodus 21:10 Deuteronomy 21:15-17 Genesis 29:28; 30: 4,9,26 2 Samuel 2:2, 5:13 1 Kings 11:1-6 2 Chronicles 13:21 2 Chronicles 24:3 Isaiah 4:1 so now, u gonna say 1) God changes His mind? bible doesnt contradict? 2) prophets were not examples to be follow?
Yes, polygamy was practiced in the Bible and it was practiced by God's holy prophets. Doctrine may change just as the levitical law was surpassed my Christ holy law.
I'm sorry to say you are wrong and the Mormon Day LDS church does not practice polygamy.
Not only that it's improtant to remember that MOST of the marriages in the Bible are polygamists. God blessed Abraham and supported his polygamy. That is a fact you can not change about the Bible.
This video is TRUE at its utmost sense. Perfectly explained direct from the Bible and scientifically correct as well. The proliferation of Sexually Transmitted Diseases came about because of man's multiple sexual partners. In the end, it all boils down to God's love for us. He didn't want all of us to end up in a lot of trouble because of polygamy. Smile. God loves you.
What about the women in your church are they allowed to have more than one husband? If it's only the men in your church that are allowed to commit polygamy and you believe it's right, don't you think you're being unfair to your women? Your men can choose among your women to become their wives and the women cannot choose who she wants to be his husband... just asking...
In John 17:11 Jesus said "That they may become one as we are one" Of course he didn't mean they they become a meshed together all in one God, he meant purpose. So the man and woman become one in purpose, goals and ideas, its the some meaning when they marry, and Jesus never condemned polygamy but knew it was needed during some times and sometimes not, if not then how come it was condoned before? I'm sure we'll know the importance of it in the next life when it is perfected by God.
Human speaking, I don't want and cannot bear to see my husband with another woman... it will not only hurt me and the other woman, but also the children... those who committed polygamy, I'm sure their wives and children, they're just pretending they're not hurt, but deep down inside their hearts, they know, they're aching... and the preacher will teach this kind of teaching, I think he only wanna give way to his lusts in non-obvious manner...
Of course, MrNirom, DefendingMormonism and the other members of the Latter Day Saints will fight for their belief, no one will admit that their belief is false...:):):). Especially when they were born on that belief...
To MrNirom and DefendingMormonism, if your life is really precious to you, you will do thorough checking if Joseph Smith is really of God or not... and you can do that by listening to other preachers... I'm sure you do not want to fall on that ditch that Bro. Eli mentioned...
I like the question you pose to Joseph smith. How can one tell a prophet of God from a False prophet according to Matthew. "By their fruits ye shall know them."
Joseph smith translated the book of Mormon by the power of God. Any man not knowing must read the book of mormon for themselves to see if Joseph was really a prophet.
All converts to the church, and our ancestors included, must read, ponder and pray for a witness of the spirit to know the truth.
I disagree with you that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. If he was, then he would have taught you faithfully the true tenet of God concerning marriage. Let's read.
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. (Heb. 13:4)
Nowhere in the Bible we could find that the prophets of God, even in the old times, taught their adherents to marry as many as they can, particularly the leaders God established in the latter days.
Defending Mormons- from your official website - NEWSROOM - Polygamy or correctly polygny, the marriage of more than one woman to the same man- was an important part of the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for half a century. The practice began during the lifetime of Joseph Smith but became publicly and widely known during the time of Brigham Young. Today, the practice of polygamy is strictly probihited in the Church, as it has been for over 100 years. pls. comment
How can a man say that 13 million of their members world wide does not practice polygamy...Does he have any substantial evidence or report? Im just asking.. Do he know all of the 13 million members? For sure its not..my advise read the bible and listen to all religious leaders to know the real TRUTH..
The Mormons.. or Latter Day Saints.. have not practiced polygamy in over 100 years. Those who continue to say we do are mistaken. There are split off groups of the church who do.. but the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.. headquarted in Salt Lake City Utah.. who have 13 million members world wide.. does not practice polygamy. Now.. do we have that straight? :-)
I do hope you're right about your declaration but I do not really know if you believe what you've said, unless of course, you know everyone in your congregation and monitor their day-to-day living. Ensure your facts are straight and credible by providing proofs so that people can take your word seriously. Thanks.

Polygamy is immoral, period. How can you have several wives and have sex with all of them? That's so gross.

You mean well, but you are simply wrong.
It is clear from reading the Bible that God condoned and approved plural marriages when they were done in the correct manner.
Biblically speaking - polygamy is right in the sight of God when he commands it.
Thus, the question is not whether or not polygamy was okay in the case of Joseph Smith, God has already established that it is okay.
The question is whether or not Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. If so, then polygamy as practice by him is fine.

Mr. Nirom is correct. The LDS have NOT practiced Plural marriage since 1906. That does NOT mean that is NOT of God.
Isaiah 4:1 Plural marriage will be reinstated by God when the 2nd coming and God reigns on the earth.
