@TheHogger129 i am not understanding when i considered a .30 super a 9mm..infact i dont think i did- and for the rest i agree, for target- go with a gun you can shoot more accuratetly and handle correctly, and for self defense, bigger is always better- 1911 FTW
A classic that will never gets old... It'll work in every place you place, every pistol cartridge you chamber... But most importantly, it will and it will shoot in any type of shooter's hand!
I like many pistols from many countries, but my absolute favorite is still the 1911.
It's American, is a pistol that's become synonymous with liberty rather than other pistols that have become synonymous with tyranny (such as the Luger P08 or the Walther P38), and fires what I consider to be the best-balanced pistol cartridge ever devised.
As you say, it's timeless because it simply works. Old, but not obsolete, complete with a legend that is without equal.
@Watcher3223 I love the .45 ACP. I'll have it on range, I'll have it on plinking, and I'll give my life on it. But, .45 ACP may rest, for the on coming of the .45 Super, because that pistol cartridge remains the same, but it will generate as much as twice the power of our old friend.
@Watcher3223 The new round requires something like the Springfield Armory GI-45 to operate, & of course you have to change more than just springs. The .45 Super operate at 28,500 psi of pressure, & that means slide and frame gotta be at least steel. Forging steel like how SA did was perfect, Barsto barrel works, & the biggest problem to encounter with the factory SA pistol was the sear and disconnector problem. If you want something that have least of the "gunsmithing stuff", try Kimber.
@Watcher3223 Eh... wasn't very well known, this new comer. Well, you can never find anything about it on Youtube. It's a new concept, and the thing won't be just ready to fire from any pistol. It needs strong frame and slide and more than just modifications around in and out side.
Boxed factory ammo of this stuff can be find from Buffalo Bore ammunitions. It's a great round, just gotta find the right pistol.
Thumbs up if the m1911a1 is better whithout a red dot sight.

Yup. There's a reason the 1911 has been around for 100 years.
Most used gun in competition shooting, in US military service since 1914, and an American icon.

45 ACP> 9mm
Colt 1911> Berreta m9, Glock, Desert eagle, ANY Pistol
mikethenascarfan 10 months ago
@mikethenascarfan - Idk if you consider a .38 Super a 9mm round. But compared to 9mm Parabellum, yes .45 Auto is more effective.
I like the .38 Super 1911 that I use for target shooting. Low recoil round, very accurate.
In a self defense 1911, I always go with .45 Auto.

.45 Super. Sounds, well, super!
And, of course, the 1911 should be up to the challenge whereas polymer pistols for .45 ACP might cry home to mommy.

Thanks for the tips and tales regarding this cartridge! I admit, I never knew about .45 Super until now. Great to learn something new in this hobby.
