  • Probably the best explanation I have found on the web, for relaxing at the piano. Thanks!

  • 3:21

  • "Hunchback of Notre Dame's greatgreatgreat grandson" lol!

I think it's unfortunate that you are actually better than my own teacher :P

  • He is a great teacher !,I learn a lot ..tanks

  • I thought this was a tutorial for the song relax lol

  • where is your glasses and why you are not in the suit ?! .. Anywayz thx ! :D

Great lesson by the way. Very informative.

  • Thanks for the advice.

  • its infact russian school of playing, good video.

  • ehm twinkie .. sorry but that's really embarrasing. If he is that bad that as u say, so why do u watch his videos and post comments like this one? My experience is : He's a great teacher and a very nice one , too. His lessons inspirated me to play the Piano ( Keyboard) . So please leave this area and shame urself that u'r so stupid.

His Hair Is Cool Also :D Mine Is Similar.

  • awesome!!!! i think i play very much better now with ur help... & i understand very well the way you explain... u ar just great..

  • good

  • You are great! I really appreciate the time you spent for all the lectures. I really learned a lot from you. Keep it up! You'll be blessed!

  • LOL ! You're great!

  • Hello, Should the power come from the arms or they fingers when I press the keys? If it has to come from the arms, what about Hanlon exercices? Should I do them without moving my wrists or should they go up and down?

  • the answer is, it comes from both, sometimes you use your arms other times you use your fingers, as you play longer you start to understand when to use different motions. There's many different ways to play something, and the right motion for that time changes depending on the circumstances :)

  • I just found this video, and I am glad I did. I have been criticized for having a low hand arch, so I tried to force myself to hold my fingers curved, as if holding a ball. Many books also stress on the importance of curved fingers. Then my wrists and arms and fingers started to hurt.

Now my teacher is trying to correct my hands by introducing arm drops and rocking of the wrists. I still have to remind myself to relax... isn't that ironic :D

This is a long video, so I will watch it again!

  • Somewhere at 3.20.. I saw a cat reflected by the piano! xD What's its name if I may ask?

Great video, by the way. Nice explaining, too.

  • u r great, thank you for this valuable lessons... i love physics on music!

  • Wow. really great vid! thank you:)

  • I'm gona be really annoying and say that gravity doesn't move it's a force that moves objects lol sorry I know it's not relevant ;) good lesson by the way :)

  • :P yes you're right obviously gravity doesn't move, i must've been stupid for saying that.

thanks i'm glad you enjoyed the lesson

  • na that's cool, it's just a way of explaining it you're not tryna teach a physics lesson after all lol

    I'm just teasing ;)

I study science too and I've noticed you use some physics in your explanations which is very interesting for me particularly :)

  • lol, you can see your cat in the reflection of your piano at 3:21

  • Hey!!!

  • mhm! i am

  • Hi Lypur,

Thanks for the excellent lessons. I am an adult learner and I have been learning piano for the last 18 months. Not one of my teachers has managed to explain the theory as you so I just wanted to say a BIG THANKS!

My piano playing has improved considerably since discovering your site...Tony (Warrington, England).

  • Hey Tony!

Glad i could help! that's a huge compliment to me, i'm honored! i wish you good luck in the future! ^_^ take care

    Andrew

  • hey im 15 years old and have taught myself piano but i really would appreciate it if u have any more advice on sightreading? i no u have already done a video (it helped quite a bit) but i always struggle terribly!!! thanks for ur lessons!!!!

  • hey, you're welcome ^_^ glad i could help, and about the sight reading thing, there's not to many more tips other than, you've gotta actually practise sight reading lots to get good at it, chances are if you don't sight read very often or avoid it, you're not going to be good at it;)

  • I love your hair!!! I love this video, relaxing is extremely important when playing the piano, there is a considerable difference in playing when you're relaxed as opposed to tense.

Thanks much I really needed this.

  • ohh! i'm glad i could help! I'm a big believer in relaxing, life is tense enough isn't it?

  • afertyus1000...stfu he isnt anoying he does this for us and he didnt have to...he coulda been doing sumtin way other than this by now but he took his time to make videos to help us...does it fucking matter if he makes jokes??? he doesnt gey payed for this so if ur anoyed then dont fucking watch it.

  • rofl??? wat the fuck is a poof..u fucking cunt get the fuck outa youtube if ur ganna come up with a gay comeback...i dont even wanna fight cuz its pretty nerdy to type threats on a keyboard..and so the fuck what if he makes misleading info...make a vid urslef then...see if u can make a succes like he did

  • learn to spell first before you type shit,i know you don't want to fight because you'd lose-success! don't make me laugh

  • yo...this is the internet...you dont gotta spell shit right...so get a fucking life u cock sucking faggot before i kick ur ass...im only 11 and trust me i will u fucking faggot.GET A LIFE AND STOP FIGHTING WITH KIDS

  • you thick shitty, snotty nosed arsewipe- i kill you wiv my little finger,DIE SOON

  • GArrrSHHHH u explain everything so clearly and you make it so easy to understand along with some humor!! i lvoe the way u teach, im 11 yrs old and u seriously helped me out..very inspirational to me.. :D

  • well thank you very much ^_^ i appreciate the comment! take care :) hope my future video help you as well!

  • no seriously you do have a talent for teaching,my pc was taking time to download that day and it was a bit frustrating, keep up the good work, enjoy it

  • ohhh, you were just annoyed at the internet speed? that's understandable! man that can get REALLY annoying, i can see why you said that now!

  • you get on my nerves a bit as you try to joke too much and waiting on an explanation takes forever

  • i guess you could pay me to hurry up? (since i'm doing this for free) but I can understand the frustration, i don't mean to annoy people, i pick a topic and i have fun with it, and i don't think my jokes took up that much time did they? i think it was 70-80% explanation (or trying to stay on topic) and maybe 20-30% jokes/random stuff.

  • Hey, thanks for the video! I can't wait for your response to my video and I know there's not much improvement on my playing. LOL! You have the best hairstyle by the way. Hehe!

  • Sorry I missed out the word "a" in my previous message. I meant to say - I am a barrister. Any way - My secretaries think you are hot (Not me - I am a straight and fully committed family man) - good looking charming and damn intelligent man. You have the whole shing ding. Unfortunate for them, you already have a partner. We are very serious about the gifts - it is our way of saying THANKING YOU. We have no ulterior motive. Sometimes words are not enough. Sam Nguyen

  • I've got the whole shing ding? :) That's always nice to hear!

Oh, so you're in law. That's actually a very interesting field, I'd imagine you get to use your brain alot. Although I don't want to say to much, since I'm completely clueless! May you could start a "How to be a Lawyer" youtube lesson;) I wonder what you're secretaries would think of that!

  • Alright, as long as all you are trying to do is say thank you ^_^ I'll accept gifts:) What did you have in mind? You can private message me the details into my inbox.

  • Andrew - I am barrister (a court lawyer/ specialist lawyer) I run a very busy practice. As you can imagine the work that I do is CRAZYYYYYY - so to avoid any possible stress-claim against me, I encourage my staff to take up piano lessons.

  • Yes, I would say cam shy too. Maybe when we feel a bit more confident. Anyway, the vid was super as usual and very amusing too. One can soon ache a bit if not relaxed, or not quite in the right position. Thanks for that Andrew.

  • That's alright:) being camera shy is pretty normal! Yea taking advantage of gravity helps alot in being able to do more with less effort! (i'm ALL about being lazy) lol

  • The answer is camera shy my dear friend. For your information, I have four secretaries and all of them including myself watch all of your videos. We have learnt alot from you. Keep up a good work. Hey, we are thinking of paying you for your time, but we can't do it. So can we send you presents instead? Sam Nguyen and team. PS we like your wicked and randomn personality...but dont be too randomn - you will become a psycho!!! Your current level of randomness is quite acceptable!!!Much love.

  • wow! that's nice to hear! I didn't imagine people at the work place would all gather and watch my videos! that's such a wonderful compliment! ^_^ Don't worry about me getting more crazy! My rule is simple, just be myself, and have fun with what I'm doing! What kind of work do you do to have four secretaries? You must have one crazy day planner!! I'm glad you enjoy my videos ^_^

  • Now, about the whole gifts thing. That's SUCH a compliment that you feel so strongly! I want to say that I have no intention of getting paid or given gifts for the lessons. To be honest I've never thought about if I would accept them or not. The reason I made these was to give people the opportunity to learn something they're interested in, have fun doing it, and take away the fear that they can't do it, and be there to help people who need a little support or encouragement.

  • I hope I've accomplished all these things! By doing this more people will hopefully discover the same passion I hold for music ^_^ which will ensure that it continues forward into the future! I just want to make it clear i don't expect anything from people! If you honestly want to send me a thank you it's completely up to you! Either way I'm going to keep on going with these videos! Just let me know what you want to do!:)

  • thank you for this UL (and the past and future lessons!) i went on vacation and just got back and saw your latest Lesson. i'm really glad you're back online!

  • Que tio mas majo

  • yay you are a dedicated teacher!!

  • thanks :)

  • Great lesson, man. However, I do have a question, how well does being relaxed really work if you're really stretching your hands? Well, I suppose I could probably wait until your next lesson for that. :)

Also, your elbowing technique is down pat, don't worry about it.

  • well, stretching to much is bad, but you've gotta be able to stretch your hands out a bit so you can grab those chords. so the key is to stretch your hands out SLOWLY everyday.

  • Thanks for another helpful lesson!

  • (≧ω≦)b new vids!!! must study hard..

  • hehe:) yep!!!

  • yeah! next lesson! im waiting for this :D

  • ^_^ yea it's out! finally out:O

  • LOL, loved your demonstration of how close you get to read the sheet music! :p And the chicken dance, of course. I'll think about all this stuff next time I play, haha.. I've never thought about any of it before. :X Maybe it'll help when I get SO nervous recording a video and have to try 1000 times before I play without messing up. :p

  • :) hmm maybe i'll do a lesson on overcoming nervousness! lol glad you enjoyed the chicken dance hahaha

  • thankyou very much.. enjoy ur videos a lot, they are inspiring :)

  • thanks:) it's a nice thought that i inspire people!

  • Great! Practical, useful stuff--that you don't easily find elsewhere.

  • thanks ^_^ that's a very nice compliment there!

  • awesome

  • thx
