  • What about classic string bass? This is good but....

  • pretty well

  • Every cellist pet hate.

  • Hey Zander I just posted a cover of this version on YouTube, check it out. Yours is far better, but I am glad I could play something to sound like it. One of my top favorites from you since day one. Thank you.

  • You should campaign for king of the web!

  • great!!!

  • nice bro

  • This is by far my favorite one

  • awesome ! :)

  • hey man! On bassline publishing is there anyway to get it in US dollars instead of Pounds? thanks :)

  • @GBOBass1

thanks for your interest. it will automatically be converted from pounds to dollars when you pay with an american credit or debit card. : )

  • @Zander4724 oh awesome! Yeah I definitely wanna try to see if I can do any of these! (probably not gonna happen lol) :)

  • love this version. if you could only teach me how to play canon on guitar it would be great! :)

  • your tone is so so good man!

  • I am amazed at how perfect and quickly you hit those chords using all four fingers ecspecially your middle. How the heck do you do it? Wow!!!! Got my work cut out for me, and I didn't even get to the triplet part yet, lol. I don't know if I can trim my middle fingers nail any shorter to really nail those chords, lol. You are an amazing musician Zander.

  • Yes C F Bb Eb. I am learning myself. Good luck.

  • It is tuned in fourths. I believe starting on C low string. Or C#.

  • Absolutely Beautiful man! I'm in tears!! Great Job!!!

  • what is your bass tuned in?

  • Acustic guitar? :D this is awesome man!

  • beautiful.....

  • who the HELL put "don't like" on this???

are you out of your mind?

  • This is one of the nicest pieces I've heard played on a bass, loving that effect too. Nice one! Also, your double notes at the end was ridiculously good, very impressive. :P

  • love ur tone dude

  • does anyone know the tunings for this? I really want to learn it for my university audition, but I can't seem to figure out the harmonics

  • That's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard

  • i wana learn this !! not that funky thing ...

  • Me encanta el sonido!

  • Where is the headstock? it seems like there isn't one...

NEways awesome job bro, your music is amazing and relaxing to listen too

  • theres a LOT of good arrangements of canon out there.... but only zanders can be the best

  • You made my day, thank you. Musically, that was a wonder. Technically, that was clever and audacious : your tapping, at some points, just sound like Tommy Emmanuel's waterfall harmonics, and your flamenco/gypsy style finish made me falling off my chair.

    You're a true player, sir !

  • WOW!! just WOW!!!

  • man this is the 3rd video i seen of yours that is so cool and i like the complete apposite of you i am a mexican american full of tattoos like completely different but am considering buying a bass guitar maybe in a 100 yrs ill sound THAT GOOD THATS THE SHITTTTTTT - PHOENIX

  • I'm crying man,excellent job,we love you

  • WTF? Where is the head of your guitar?

  • I agree with @BassWhiz92 - I think it's the delay, echo, reverb, etc., but the harmonics are gorgeous sounding.

  • Your harmonics are just euphoric every time I hear them!

  • I've said this before, and I'll say it again... the BEST version of Canon on the internet!

One of the finest pieces of music on youTube period.

  • Is it just me, or is there anyone else who feels that he have different haircuts in all his videos.... oh btw i love your videos so damnnnn muchh !!! :D

  • dude are u playin' in standar affination??? i mean A??

  • what i can do? listen, share and share this wonderful job:))

  • Love the ending mate! Keep it up!

  • Wonderful performance!!!

  • bkn exelente locoo =D

  • i swear if u close ur eyes listening to this i would think it was a guitar

  • se escucha super cabron !!!! it hears so fuckin' kick ass... great inspiration dude

  • Fucking Awesome nuf said

  • wish i could download this to my phone :( what ana mazing display

  • Are you using the Victor Wooten technique at the end?

  • @AggieTreed

no, i'm not. victor wooten's technique is: thumb down, thumb up, first finger pop, second finger pop. the technique i'm using is more similar to matthew garrison's four finger technique, which is all plucks: thumb, first, second, third - and the pattern continues. i'm also using my thumb to play arpeggios on the lower strings. :)

  • amazing compose and play!

  • Zander4724 you are truly a real musician!!

  • Just Beautiful *-*!!

  • SH1T. This makes me realize that I better chop up my bass for firewood.

This is absolutely awesome playing. What a great sound and what a fabulous bass.

  • How the heck do you tune that thing?

  • 5 tone-deaf psychopaths found their way to this web page.

  • @BertieWooster7137 dont worry the 1055 other people will beat them to pieces.

  • please send this to me in a downloading version! my wedding is september 16th!!! I love it!!!

  • I like .

  • @torteeraphat me too.

  • i want you to play at my funeral

  • As a Cellist, I must say that the true potential of the bass is really shown here. Superb work here. Just beyond words. This will be one of the only few Cd's in my collection that feature only a solo bass. Thank you for your excellent musicality and talent.

  • what hapened to the end of the bass ? o_O

  • bought you're album mate, sonds amazing!

what type of altered tuning are you using here?

    thanks

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

  • I love this song !

I will use this song for my wedding, i'm sure, its BEAUTIFUL !

  • @yampiitas

    Your choice is correct!!!!!!!!!~

  • What tuning did you use ???

  • Till now if something was liked generally always I wanted to learn it but this so much good to keep silent totally turns off my brain and I do not look at it how you play it, but that this some unconscious beautiful one congratulations your knowledge you are a treasure. Was worthy already because of this to look up youtube. This is simple fucking awesome. I do not learn to play a probable level like this on a bass guitar if you are not a teacher only :D Beautiful thank you that you put it up. :)

  • if you would write down the tab for this id love you so much D:

  • some days i think people are def, to dislike a piece this beautiful is disgusting. well done my friend, may fame and fourtune find you.

  • It sounds very beautiful. Thank you.

  • i would gladley pay 100 dollars for this tab

  • my man, i could listen to your videos all night. truly inspiring as a fellow bassist. love the tone!

  • Who would dislike this video???

  • @AggieTreed ASSHOLE would dislike it!!!~

    haha

  • this deserves more views!

  • grande stile!

  • amazing i heard with guitar...but in this way is fantastic :D

  • 5 people.... i feel sorry for the 5 people who don't have a mature ear for music

  • By FAR, the best and most original version of canon on youTube!

  • I hate you. I hate you more than anything. I thought i was a good bass player! I could never do this!!!! 150 thumbs up to you!

  • your bass is tuniin in what

  • Dude! You are crazy awesome!!!

  • amazing talent

  • i'm impress by your work!

  • I will learn how to play this if it kills me.

  • Es maravillo poder ser testigo, aunque sea virtualmente, del avance de la tecnología y su uso mezclado con la belleza de la música, felicidades al interprete.

  • there is so much depth in everything you play

  • i dun really believe this is a bass solo, but i have to choice because i saw it myself ....tears

  • amazing!

    what tuning do you use?

  • hey man are you using reverb? this tone is by far the most enchanting ive ever heard keep it up bro.

  • This is great, you have a lot of talent. If i only had 10% of youre skills,... ;-) really good.

  • It started snowing as i listened to this.

  • Beautiful playing! One thing that has been bugging me though, where the hell did the head of the bass go?

  • Very good! And, not at all what I was expecting. I'd just seen your arrangement of "She Danced," and I was expecting to see you use your sequencer quite a lot for this Canon, as well, layering each voice up in turn. That you've accomplished such a wonderful interpretation of it without depending on the sequencer leaves me awestruck and pleasantly surprised. I'm going to have to order a CD soon, I think.

  • If I ever get married... play this at my wedding ;D or my funeral... Either one is good

  • dude every time I watch your videos my mind is blown away, this is just pure beauty that your making, and your tone is phenomenal

  • dude every time I watch your videos my mind is blown away

  • Nothing but beautiful

  • Have you broke the head of your bass in the door ?

  • we do this in music

  • Beautfiful

  • Amazing!!!!!! I love it!!!!

  • I think this is really really good, but I do have just one small complaint. I was hoping that since it was for bass guitar, it would sound like a bass. How did you get it to sound like that anyway? Don't get me wrong, I love it, I just was hoping it would've sounded like a bass.

  • @piff235 piccolo strings.....which i think (emphasis on the word think) are tuned an octave higher than standard....but im not sure i know the strings aren't as deep as standard strings

  • @cameronj279 Ok, that makes so much more sense! I thought it was a MIDI patch that was making it sound different. Suddenly I like this video a lot more.

  • Tottaly amazing

  • Should you ever make a transcription of this let me know. Your arrangement of this piece is beautiful.

  • Is it able to you to message the tab?

    It sounded really cool!

    Please send me a message.

  • Very nice playing man!

Style reminds me of Lauri Porra.

  • Hey man this is awesome, Great Job!

  • Look out your headstock's missing

  • Is it possible for you to let the strings continue to ring after you let go of the strings?(like a piano's sustain pedal) because it would sound better that way.

  • SO IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the only pedal he may be using is something for the reverb. hes using piccolo strings wich r an octave higher than normal bass strings, but not as thin as guitar strings. and with the headless bass, it creates amazing sustain, because the strings dont have to be wrapped around a post

  • this needs so many more views, this is the best bass video i have seen, aside from the dude who plays mario, and fotbb.

  • no head?

  • I really have to stop watching this video, cuz it reminds me how much I hate myself for playing guitar and not bass :(

  • You bring new life to the bass. Exellent work.

  • you play guitar and keyboard on your bass :) lol

  • @gbson2398 n u cannot play anything :) lol

  • amazing sound from a bass. initially, i didn't understand how u can get that tone until i read the comments.

can u tell me more details about your tone?? apart from altered tunings, what do u do?? i really really love that tone, i'm gonna watch all of your vids, i assume they will be very beautiful. ;)

  • okay, so harmonics, and are you using an octave pedal too? seems like i can hear two octaves of each note, or ur just that good which i wouldnt doubt

  • Great performance, lovely piece - linked to through Donnaduckpoole's channel. The unusual tone is, as far as I can see, because the bass is down tuned to C tuning - Low C, F, Bb, Eb, then the recording is transposed up an octave giving it that wirey ethereal tone - nearer guitar range, plus using bright spanking new strings and some reverb. Use that, or any other bass, in standard tuning and pitch, and you won't get that sound. It's not the bass itself, it's what he's done with it. Great though.

  • @steveTheBass1 The bass is not tuned down at all. It's in piccolo tuning with extremely light strings. The "G" string is actually plain, it's that light. D'Addario make the strings. I have them on 1 of my basses.

  • @steveTheBass1 but how do you exactly transpose a bass an octave up? sorry 4 the english

  • @steveTheBass1 He is using piccolo strings.

  • They say the musician makes the instrument... but there's no way any person could play something like this, with such accuracy, precision, harmony, and perfection as you have; without an amazing instrument as the one you own. I don't know how much time it will take me to do this, and i hardly think i'm ever gonna be as good as this guy, but i'm gonna own such an amazing bass one day... it is worth it.

  • simply beautiful. I wish you would teach me how to play bass like this... its simply the most magical sound that I have ever heard from an instrument.

  • zander, if you dont post a new video within the next month or so i might fall over dead. :(

  • You seem so relaxed... but what happend in 0:46 ??

  • I was dragged along to listen by donnaduckpoole who's name I have just misspelled (sorry D). Glad I came. That's a very moving rendition indeed.

  • That brought a tear to my eye, what a truly beautiful rendition.

  • I love it...

    t_tang

  • I'll dare to call you talented .. I'm astonished both by your arrangement, techniques, sound and feeling

  • what kind of hall effekt did you use??

  • Maravilloso...!!! Gran interpretacion que sentimiento!!! Una pregunta, este tema es tuyo???

  • @Zander4724

Great job man. Bought your solo album and I love it!!. All the songs are an inspiration. I've been playing for a few years and I find it awesome what your doing. Hope you are doing well and take care!...

  • in your album sonorous are you using any altered tunings? and what kind of strings are those?

  • @Dylanbassedmunds

    all altered tunings.

    d'addario piccolo.

  • @Zander4724 Zon makes their own piccolo sets. I prefer them over the D'addario's and you can get 5 string sets for B or E tunings.

  • that was absolutley beautifull ! great job

  • Stop being amazing... kthnxbye :)

  • wheres the head? O.o nice cover

  • ke lindo suena *o*

  • how did you tune your bass

  • It's good and all... But it doesn't sound like a bass :(.

I like playing bass guitar because it's well... Bass? It's lower, and that's what makes it different. This just sounds like an acoustic almost.

  • @marvman77

thanks, but i've no tabs at the moment as i learn and arrange everything by ear.

  • @Zander4724 how it always is! nice job too.

  • @Zander4724 by ear... good job... really... love this version, i just cant stop listening to it.

  • I'm form Taiwan,I like your solo . It's Beautiful !!

  • I'm form Taiwan. I like your solo. It's Beautiful !!

  • Truly superb music making! In this video, your playing transcends technique and really communicates feelings. Very hard to do on bass! Absolutely lovely!

I'm just an old thumper, but I do get to play with Clyde Stubblefield on drums, so that's not too bad, but your musicianship is really inspiring, especially for someone so young! Thanks for the beautiful music!

  • god how I really do not want to listen to this song 1 more time

  • Incredible! amazing usage of harmonics.

I have a question; how do you that tone out of your bass? is it like maximum treble and minimum bass and middle or what?

  • @abouzeid91

thanks! my eq is set to flat.

  • @abouzeid91 its a zon bass, best tone right next to peter hiltons magnificent creations

  • dude you sing so good :| i wish i could do that on my bass...I hope i will get there in time :) anyway....your great :D

  • what kind of set up do you have to get that sound out of bass? what bass? what amp? and whats strings? I just love that sound its so bright but still doesn't mess up the bottom sounds

  • @0235689741

please see 'equipment' on my channel page. : )

  • Woah. Beautiful! What tuning is your bass in for this?

  • @Tseosilca

thanks! i'm in standard fourths, but i forgot exactly what the notes are. maybe BEAD or C F Bb Eb.

  • Your music is relaxing me.

You spent much time but it was worth.

Greetings and i wish you many succes ;]

  • One of the most sublime bass tone's I've ever heard. Please, tell me, what amplification are you using? Those strings must be lovely to use.

  • GREAT!! But is it +octave transposed or restrung ?

  • really awesome job. but why are you playing it in D# ? (:

  • Wow!!! socool

  • This is so beautiful. It made me cry. I just hope someday I'll be enough good to play it. You're incredible. :')

  • One of my favorites. UNBELIEVABLY talented. my jaw is dropped.
