@summer3100 Exactly and well said. Yes she apparently did some horrible things (if all that is written about her in Molto Agitato is to be believed) but she has a most wonderful voice. She made a mistake and has paid badly for this. A pity, a really pretty young woman with a glorious voice who pulled the crowds into the Met. I just hope that she is contented wherever she may be and whatever she is doing.

people...her gasping is like a marvelous dancer with imperfect feet!! she has always had issues breathing. she didn't have the best air, but she is small and so many singers with magnificent air would give great amounts to have her tone!!!
@tervine18 This piece has always been about Maria's youth and her exasperation about being in love for the first time. I think the gasping is just to enhance that feel. Plus...you try singing that loud at that tempo.
Always gives an amazing vocal performance. Ok I know this is off topic but the shall doesn't go with the dress. It detracts which you would think would be a good thing! LOL cuz she's caring some serious crazy behind her!
@duaname I disagree-that touch of rich color keeps the dress from looking like a meringue-coated wedding cake... Battle has her own style and always carries off her costumes with great aplomb. Most importantly, though, she is a superb artist who continues to bring joy and rapture to millions with the divine gift of music that she carries. The ancient Greeks believed that "whom the gods love, they punish."
