@reillyfornow so snappy so quick, you must be one of those guys that are great to learn under since you take questions so gracefully. it was an earnest question considering it's a powerful position in both bjj and wrestling
@aomasakid but, to answer your question seriously... when someone has a hold of your belt in this way, circling toward the back would not usually stop the forward roll for the kneebar, nor would grabbing their lead leg for a single. i recommend taking a look at a video titled 'Leg Locks for Sambo and No-Gi Grappling (2nd edition)' as it has competition examples of rolling for leg locks from many angles including when someone is working for a single, and from having the belt grip.
@reillyfornow Ankle pick is not illegal in combination I believe. If you go for let's say an Uchi Mata first, then change direction and pick the ankle it should be fine.
@BayouSnipera Judo people often tend to claim that all other martial arts are just bad imitations of Judo.
Vasili Oshchepkov, the founder of modern Sambo was a Judo black belt under Jigoro Kano, but Sambo was influenced by other martial arts a well + both Judo and Sambo have developed in different directions since then.
Probably just asking Reilly, but I feel like someone should mention it. A grip on the upper body helps a lot, but the grips used in no-gi are dangerous to rolling kneebar from, so experiment and figure out what's safe before you jump one from a whizzer for example. It's easy to fall onto someone's extended or trapped arm and do some damage.
rolling kneebar's are difficult no gi. but one entrance i like is off of a Russian two-on-one grip. check my technique videos for a demonstration of this.
there is also a video of one of my students (mike chesbro) doing this no-gi with just a collar tie.
great stuff, this looks like magic to me reilly :P

@reillyfornow ankle pick is illegal but just from this year.....and judo has more of 50 years

Yeah with no gi it's a lot harder to pull off because you have nothing to grab.
