@EduardoTVideos Would've been a good idea for Nero, but like so many villains in so many movies, he doesn't think of the obvious. Even in an alternate universe, certain abilities of the prime counterparts remain.
@Audioholics Tell me about it. the guy who played Nero wasn't very convinving. :-(
And the whole going back in time thru the wrom whole and the idea of 2 Spocks, the way it was done, just didn't feel right. And the Enterprise, why did they make it so bright? Looks ridiculous to me.
@blownblair98 hello, I wasn't referring to Kirk's father on the Kelvin (he probably learned about who he was in the subsequent 25 years (most of which he spent in a romulan jail, as seen in the deleted scenes). He had nothing against him, he was just in the way when he was pissed off with Spock. Later on he met the son. One he already knew about without having to look him up.. And he obviously inderestimated him. But I do agree with you saying he wouldn't have cared about little Kirk. :)
This is one of the best scenes in the movie. Imagine what Nero must have been thinking when he sees a familiar ship, and... crap! It's the Enterprise, a ship from 200 years ago from Nero's point of view. Brilliant scene.
"Divert auxiliary power from port nacelles [plural] to forward shields"? That order makes no sense. And where are these "shields" in this movie? Obviously the Narada's 24th century weapons are too powerful for them but we don't even see the effect of the torpedoes breaking through the shield barrier. It looks like the Enterprise had no shields up at all.
@nickdf420 the orignal enterprise didnt have a 'bubble' shield if thats what you mean, it had 'screens' or something like that, which reduced the spread and the amount of damage done to the ship. You only have to look at what happened to the rest of the federation fleet to see what would happen if the enterprise didnt have its shields up.
@nickdf420 It's "Divert Auxiliary Power from port to cells to forward shields", order makes perfect sense, you're just hearing it wrong. The shield effects weren't visible because all power was focused on FORWARD SHIELDS, the Enterprise was hit by a torpedo on it's side. And if you're wondering why Sulu said the shields drop even though the shields are focused to the front, it's the shields trying to seal the hull breaches, preventing people from flying into space.
Remember in the original you didnt see them hitting the shields they where invisible shiels and they mostly protected the bridge and engineering back then
@nickdf420 Well its simple remember in the battle of USS Kelvin one of the crewman asked "our shields even up?" Simple answer to that is the borg technology ignored the shields and even take it down somewhat. Thats pretty scary.
@Idazmi7 Why not? Its based on the Star Trek comics titles "Coundown" and its more effect than one torpedo. A torpedo that turns into many and spreads damage to all parts of the ship instead or only one particular area. Hence in real life the use of cluster munitions instead of one bomb.
@Idazmi7 Anybody can make changes on the yield of the torpedo. Based on past star trek series. It would be very boring if they make all ships destroyed in one hit.
He knew the Enterprise from history because it evidently was a legendary vessel, as his captain and first officer. So he became curious to see If the legends were there already, since he specifically wanted to punish one of them. Curious how he tried to prevent Kirk from becoming captain by trying to kill him but failed, making him become captain and a bigger legend even sooner.
@francisraud I don't think Nero even knew Kirk was on the Kelvin. His whole focus was on Spock and the Kelvin just happened to get in his way. If Nero had known that the infant Kirk was on the escape shuttles,I'd like to think he would've eliminated them, but I doubt it. As it was,he let his obsession blind him to his true enemy until,of course,it was WAY too late to do anything about it.
@francisraud When did Nero ever try to kill Kirk in this movie? he didn't even really try. I mean, at the end of the movie their was little to no effort on Nero;s part, altho u might debate it. But i don't think he really any "try" into it.
@francisraud Nero knew the Enterprise cos he battled the Enterprise E in the prime timeline, not the stupid shit timeline that this movie is based in!!
Call me stupid, but why does he stop firing because he saw the name "enterprise"? The Enterprise was a new ship, so how would Niro know?

Alternate ending for the movie:
Nero sees the name Enterprise on the hull and says:
"HOLY SHIT! THE ENTERPRISE! GET US DAMN OUT OF HERE, NOW!"

such a weak villian and weak plot. This movie felt more like a new Star Wars movie than it did Star Trek.

I think it has a flux like in most of the newer ships so it could penetrate through shields

yeah it would've made more sense to divert all warp power to the whole shield grid. would've made more sense.

@nickdf420 not all weapons can be blocked by the shields, Voyager encountered a lot of those

@deltaboy2011 Actually, the TOS torpedo could kill a Constitution in one hit. Or a continent.
Nice try.
