@Starscream2040 USA uses it, and possibly England / UK. If you were to hold a candle up to something a century or two back (before electricity) in the dark, as to inspect it closely and in detail. If somebody (or someTHING) couldn't hold a candle to somebody / thing else, it means the second person being judged / inspected falls way short of the beauty or quality of the other. As in, Demi Moore is nothing next to Dolores. Which she isn't. Not even remotely close, lol
The song is so appropriate to this movie and the fan-vid is so well edited that I had believed it to be on the soundtrack. But the soundtrack for the 1996 version of the Crucible was entirely written by composer George Fenton.
Great song, will see if I can post the clip from Pret-A-Porter. ;-)

Dolores O'Riordan is incredibly good looking. I don't think Demi Moore could hold a candle to her. If the looks aren't enough, WOW, that voice!!!!

Can you explain me please that expression "could hold a candle"? I saw it on a song.
What does it mean?
in what countries people use it?
Thanks
