I would be fine with this if they didn't call themselves Human Fortress. This is clearing NOT Human Fortress. The first two albums are much better, which is probably why they dropped a lot of the musicians on this record and got the old ones back. I hope they go back to power metal, what they did best.

Looking back, of course it would have been sensible to rename the band - everyone who heard HF for the first time loved the album, "only" the old fans, the powermetalheads, were confused - and, like you, disappointed or angry. But three years ago, this and nothing else was Human Fortress! You might want to thank those who left the band before...

This new album is very bad. I don't like it. It is not Human Fortress. I think these guys should create a new band with a new name, afterall this a new line up and a different style of music. Let Human Fortress be what it was, a great epic band.

@DMepicmetal This was the most HF you could get at that time. The band had grown to what you see and hear here. Members left and were replaced, it was an evolutionary process. Back then, no one expected a name change to be necessary. Proven wrong, obviously ;)

On the first three albums, also on this video, there was only one bass player, but only Eternal empire was played with fingers. Anyway there's a completely new line up today, including the bassist.

Eternal Empire = worst let down in Power Metal ever. The sad thing is, Carsten isn't a bad vocalist, he has a good voice, and a high range but completely ruins it by being so badass. I was so happy to see that they have a new (the old) line up again and they're gonna go back to what they did before.

I have to say,this album is just one big dissappointment. HF had such a unique sound, Whatever song you heard from them,you know it's HF. I can't even recognize that sound. Not that the music is shitty, But mainly the core vocals, just can't stand them. As pepole said,I was expecting Defenders II. Seems like a mainstream "ticket in" album. I'm really gonna miss the old HF, Hope they go back to the way the were. still, HF forever.

I'd say that this Album is one of the best albums within the power metal genre. It's not like the rest and brings a fresh breeze into an otherwise conservative genre, i truely hope that there will be more from this band and perhaps they could influense other bands to leave the bubble. Change isn't a bad thing

Iron Maiden without Paul Di'Anno were finally considered a band, He was an aweful singer who didn't suit their music and Bruce Dickinson is far superior. He sings every single song from 'Iron Maiden' and 'Killers' better than Di'Anno and made Maiden who they are today: a phenominal band, in the studio AND live!!

I've got no prob with death metal, but I hate it when a band gets well known and "famous" by a great sound like the one they had with Jioti and replace it with this music, which IMO is not bad, but it's just not Human Fortress. I'm ok with evolution if and only if their music has become stale, but personally HF style was very far from been stale, plus I think that Carsten could have done a better job, his vocals in Galloglass were great, I thought he would rock in HF, cause Galloglass was alike.

Well... it's just not the Human Fortress I fell madly in love with. The symphonic tunes, catchy chours and epic feel is gone. Guess it's to be expected when they replace both drummer and singer tho.

However, they still have a great sound, and I'm still a fan. I think that most of the 'disappointment' i feel is linked to the name. I expected to hear something completely diffrent stream from my speakers when I clicked on a HF song. I'm still gonna buy the new CD tho.

I say first ten because Sacral Fire always seemed a bit out of place to me. It's not a bad song but compared to the perfection of the rest of the album the song is average to me.

Don't get me wrong DoTC is a masterpiece and Human Fortress rocks.

Defenders of the Crown is one of the greatest metal albums of all time.

I was nervous about the new singer since I never liked Galloglass but this song rocks. It's not on par with the first ten songs of Defenders but nothing is :p.

everything is good, but one BIG mistake, refreain is lost in song, i can say there's no catchy refrain, and thats no more Human Fortress we loved (i still do :) )
