Thanks for posting. As a kid, I loved reading the Iliad and the stories of Achilles and Hector. Although some parts of "Troy" were good. The story was almost completely off: Hector killing Menelaus and Ajax and Brad Pitt inside the Trojan horse. Totally wrong.
Yes thats right. Someone should make Iliad as trilogy and make it faithful to the book. Pitt and Bloom were awful in Troy, too. Bana did role of Hector OK, though.
This movie is fantastic. It is a remarkably faithful rendition this film, while 'Troy' is the wrong story. If you like history of Achilles, you can buy 'HELEN OF TROY'. But the most faithful story is 'FURY OF ACHILLES'.
@greek2l I've already seen Helen of Troy--both versions--they make Achilles look like a barbarian. No sense of honour, sheer brute force over skill at Greek arms. I'd much prefer Brad Pitt's version over both of the Helen of Troy actors...but I do agree, "Troy" really fucked up the whole story of the Iliad. Shame, really.
Before I go buy "Fury of Achilles", though, might I ask how they depict Hector in this film?
This is the BEST version the Iliad in movie form imo. Still has a few flaws, but the major points are there.
The games,
The sickness sent by the Gods, which all other versions seems to skip lol.
The trade of slaves to lift the curse,
Achilles withdraw from the battle.
Hecktor's victorys.
Killing of Achille's freind.
Achilles rampage vs Hecktor.
And at last Praim begging for Hecktor's body from Achilles in a touching scene, when Achilles himself knows his own death is not far off.

Achilles and Paris were already dead when the Greeks entered Troy hidden in the Trojan Horse. Achilles' son was there and he killed King Priam.

Οι παλιές ταινίες ήταν πιο κοντά στην ιστορική πραγματικότητα. Οι σύγχρονες είναι παραμυθάκια με αμερικανικά εφέ.

@Qtrademark very true, Achilles' son was in the horse. Brad Pitt doesn't look like Achilles is supposed to either. Achilles was a redhead :D
Another MAJOR difference was Patroclus, who isn't even related to Achilles and is actually older.

@Qtrademark Wasnt Achilles in the Trojan horse? In The Odyssey, Homer states that Achilles was in the Trojan Horse by his side.

@eddieischill123 In the film "TROY" Achilles was in the horse. This is wrong. Achilles was killed by Pairis before...
