Very well done, especially the vocal harmonization in the beginning. Personally, I understand the appeal of autotune but I don't like when it becomes noticeable for lead vocals. A little over-produced for my liking, but that's just me. Overall, excellent job.

great concept bringing the groups together and great song.

however...think you shouldn't've used the autotune. that kind of processing is already the scorn of the mainstream hip hop community, and a cappella is supposed to be about recreating songs with all voice, right? Kind of ironic to beatbox to recreate percussion sounds, but then use autotune to make the singing sound artificial.

Anyway, the initial male lead is really good. The one at 2:30 is a little weaker - kind of clips his words.

I believe the voice effects and filters were used for stylistic purposes for this hip-hop inspired song. It's still purely voice produced tones. As far as the autotune, when you spend hours within a studio that you're paying for, it becomes sensible to use autotune sometimes in case you're a little off pitch or tempo. All artists have used this at some point. It's the live performances that artists give that really validate their musicality and talent. From experience, CDN is great live.

@tacojohn69 If you're referring to the solo, that's purposefully added for color (like most hip hop nowadays). Oftentimes it is used subtly on the backing vocals to correct tuning.

this is amazing, hands down, and anyone who says otherwise is ridiculous. Any performer on any cd gets a touch up, that doesn't diminish the song because it was produced? listen to any song on the BOCA cd's, they've all been handled to sound better, but it's still a cappella, and still sounds great. so congrats CDN and Rubyfruit, great job : )

I agree that this sounds extremely cool, and that it is still a cappella because there is no intstrumental accompaniment...it just depends what you're going for. I like hearing much more raw, not pitch-corrected recordings of a cappella groups. For my personal tastes, this is way over produced, but that doesn't make it not a cappella, nor does it make it not a valid piece of art. I would listen to this again, and that's all that is important.

uconn - i don't think he was saying the song doesn't sound cool. it just shouldn't be advertised as an a capella song when it isn't TRUE a capella. a song produced to this extent will not have the same sound when performed at a live concert. there is a line when a song becomes over-produced and this song is a great example of that. the soloist is autotuned and at 2:32 it sounds like a horrifically bad t-pain song. yikes!
