I was watching the show when the brothers reunited on Montown 25th back then. You had to be watching the actually performances when it actually happne to get full affect of how hugh it was. It was the greatest performance lived. This was the first time he did the moomwalk and the crystal glove he worn became the most famous Jackson artifact known. It sold at Julain Auction house,sale New York on 11/21/09 just after his death I was at the auction and it sold for $420,000.

mj's gambol wasn't gambled aqui: i watched w/ no sound, & knowing da ok lyrics i could follow where he's singing, by the story of expressive groove, showing it really is for the song, not just a hop for anything, which would be bad as saying good singer with no basis. yet when asked why a favorite, you may not know. so, if stereo is toggled do you still feel enough warmth in your coat w/o zipper, or do you get lost with the movements & silent words? is dance coincidental to a beat or truly emph?

I remember watching this live. I don't think this was the time the moonwalk was introduced to us though. I think this is the first time he performed it live. I remember anxiously anticpating the "moonwalk" in this performance. It was probably the only reason I watched the show.. People in the crowd were also screaming "billie jean". We all knew about the moonwalk so this couldn't be the first time we saw it.

I'm REALLY sorry for writing so much if that bugged some people....I'm A HUGE MJ fan and have done soooo much research on him. Mostly from this book about him that I'm reading right now by J. Randy Tarraborelli. It's an amazing book. But yes, I did write that all myself and if u ever have any questions about him I'm sure I can answer them :)

@scorpioatql Yeah totally! I completely know how you feel(: Well it's called Michael Jackson: The Magic, The Madness, The Whole Story. And as I said it's by J. Randy Taraborelli. It's a GREAT book all about his entire life. It's pretty thick cause it has quite a bit of info in it. It's based on interveiws that the author has done with the Jackson family almost Michaels whole life. He was even good friends with Michael. It's a really truthful story too.

@MisssDevyn456 Well I've read his book "Moonwalk", book by the rabbi "the Michael jackson tapes", Ms katherine's book about her son. I've read interviews on him and people who he was very close too. Read things on Ms. Lisa presly's site and she is a nice woman and will answer any question bout MJ. Read magazines tabliod free. lost count of how many youtube vids i seen. i like seeing vids of him just being himself that lets me get to know him better. I've learned so much about him its amazing

@scorpioatql MJ music and persona were fascinating but Im sorry to tell u guys you will never ahve a glimpse of who eh was.He had many psicological issues going plus he was a genius and ever changing.There a re many MJ's. And dont beleive everything u read,not even what MJ wrote.Autobiography is not the truth about anybodys life is what somebody wants the world to know about him. Same with a mothers book etc.Accept u never met the person and you'll never get to know who he was.Enjoy the music

Berry argued that since it was not a motown song, he could not sing it. Michael argued that if he couldn't sing it, he would not perform. In the end, Michael won. He ALWAYS got his way. As some of you said, he also complained later on that he didn't stay on his toes NEARLY as long as he wanted too. After the perfomance, he actually didn't feel very good about it. But with much praising from his family, the fans, and even one of his idols, Fred Astaire, he felt much better about it.

Michael actually was very reluctant to doing this special. It took A LOT of convincing from everyone including many of his assistants and producers, Joeseph, and the brothers. In the end, it was Katherine who finally convinced him to do it because she had the most power of him. But he would only do it on one condition: as long as he performed with the brothers again, he also got a solo spot. It also took some convincing with Berry Gordy for Michael to be able to sing "Billie Jean"

18sweet, No, that wasn't a joke. When the Jacksons left Motown Records, Jermaine was the only one who would not leave Motown, so the Jacksons went on without him.

Motown did not allow the Jacksons to keep the "Jackson 5" name.

Later, Jermaine himself left Motown.

This Motown 25 special was in honor (and favor) to Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown.

Anyhow, it was a cool move that he would master to perfection later on.

After the Jackson 5 got frusturated about how less sales they had started making, they blamed it on Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown because he wouldn't let them write and produce their own songs and, as they believed, wasn't giving them enough publicity. After some thinking over and a little indecision from Michael, they dicided to switch from Motown to a new record company, which would later be Epic records.

Although, at that time Jermaine had just newley-wedded Hazel Gordy, Berry Gordy's daughter. He then had to chose a HUGELY hard decision between his dad and brothers or his wife and father-in-law. After some thinking over, he chose to stay at Motown because he new if he left while married to Hazel, he would put his relasionship between him Berry and ESPECIALLY his relationship between him and Hazel in jepordy.

After a while of trying, but not succeeding, at a solo career at Motown, Jermaine finally quit and signed to Epic records with his brothers again. By then there was six of them instead of five, (because Randy was now included) and Michael had already become much more indpendent with the success of the release of "Off the Wall" and his newly released album "Thriller". He was starting to break away from the group and all though Joeseph and the brothers did not want to admit to it, it was true.

I've watched this "Billie Jean" performance from Motown 25 so many times on dvd, but never continuously from the Jacksons performance. And wow-- when Mike says "especially I like the new songs" after his brothers leave the stage, I felt as though it was his "statement" he is no longer "little Michael" of the Jacksons, but "Michael Jackson". And from this moment, he became "MICHAEL JACKSON" we know. It's an amazing moment. Thanks for sharing!
