Bobby Scheyer and Pete Finestone are still my best drummers in BR. Pete cause he got important history in BR and in the punk rock scene, and Bobby cause he's like a robot; precise, efficient and secure. Brooks has the best technical skills; I try but it cant change my mind about Bobby...but I admit, Brooks its an awesome drummer!
@gdinoteimoso I agree with you, but judging by Greg's and Brett's interview they are saying that Brooks brought new dimension to BR. Not just with his technical skills but he is an inspiration to them. Still I prefer Bobby as a BR drummer.
@dulishaEGK Off course Brooks sounds like Bobby 2.0, he really are the best technical drummer in BR, but though being the best in skills, I really don't think he is the best representative of a punk rock drummer as Bobby. I know that GG and crew love him in the band (so am I), but some songs, he really make things that wasn't needed...he adds too much things on the songs, and sometimes those songs sound like crap...but that's me thinking...but anyway, The Quickining and The Grand Delusion...OMFJ
@gdinoteimoso I like Pete, Bobby and Brooks all for different reasons. Pete for the same reasons as you and Bobby because he had a unique kind of playing. You can tell when it was Bobby playing. But I'd have to say I like Brooks the best. He's like Bobby 2.0 His drumming is very precise because of his jazz background. The Quickening and Shattered Faith are both songs that come to mind that Brooks is nailing it out of the park.
yeah i found that on the net after i wrote that hes a great drummer propably a good teacher/drum technician looks like he knows what hes doing ya know
Maybe he started singing a Minor Threat or Dagnasty or Samhein song on accident. After all the dudes been in like half of the most influential punk bands for the last twenty-five years.
I suppose you mean "doesn't sing lead vocals". And this is where you are WRONG. Live, Baker sometimes takes over the lead vocals, so that Graffin can harmonize with Bentley (especially when Gurewitz isn't around). So "Navigating a tangled web of logic and passion" is supposed to be sung by Baker here, only he forgot and did an "oozin' ah" with Graffin and Bentley.
And if ur confused why no one sang that line it was cuz Greg just decided to do it that way or he forgot the line. He did the same thing at the end of American Jesus off the Tested album and I'm sure he's done it many other times. Seriously you gotta listen to the album.
I did listen to the album about a million times. And true - there is a deliberate factor, which I ruled out. I based my assumption on the fact that Baker sometimes sings the melody (e.g. in "21st Century Digital Boy"), which is comparable to our discussion, though not the same thing. Wish I'd get the chance to ask Graffin one day! I was fortunate enough to meet Hetson, but he couldn't tell me much about the vocals per se, as he "never sing[s]", as he told me. ;-)
Jay, and sometimes Brett also does the thing "tried to tell you about no control"
Another example is Punk Rock Song, towards the end "Figures dont lie they speak of human disease" part, Jay sings that while Baker and Graffin do backup vocals.
fuck the "copy and paste" guys lol

I love this song. Happy to see they played it live at least once!
bobhund123 2 years ago
Same it's better than (get ready to thumbs down me everybody) American Jesus in my humble opinion which they play live every gig.
It's too repetitive for my liking, obviously I appreciate the lyrics but I mean the lyrics are amazing in every BR song so it's kind of irrelevant.
Iamkl132 2 years ago
They should play it live again

I love it at the beginning when they let Greg go acapella. They should've done that in the studio version.

Sure... The latter example doesn't count, though, as Bently sings that part in the studio version, too. ;-)
