Both the longboarder and the driver of the van are idiots.
The driver was going way too fast for the road and passes on a section of road marked by double yellow lines. She'd probably lucky the longboarder was there: at the rate she was going i doubt she would've made the next corner without hitting something.
Also, the longboarder was swerving using both sides of he road.
Bothy are very lucky his didn't end and worse than it did.

100% the longboarders fault and hes lucky he didnt die. He broke rule #1 (no helmet, duh) and also another rule which is dont go under the speed limit on a busy road, and he was going waaaaaay under which is asking for something like this to happen.

i came so close to getting hit yesterday, i had a helmet, i checked both sides of the street, saw no cars, crossing the street, a car turns out of nowhere going very fast, heading right towards me, i bail and run like hell, and then it stops 2 feet before it hits me, the car just nudged me, i apologize to them, ask if they are ok, driver apoligizes to me and ask if im ok, then their passenger yells at me like im an idiot...
you were just being an idiot and almost died.

Wow. How irresponsible and stupid. The woman was in the wrong for trying to pass in a dangerous and illegal fashion, but the skateboarder is no better. You were basically doing the same thing as this woman by weaving in and out of the lanes. You should not have been in that lane. If you want to skateboard down a highway, then you better obey the same laws as everyone else on the road. You are VERY lucky to be alive.

@FreebieJeebiez no, it wasn't their fault. double lines = DO NOT PASS. it's there for a good reason, you can't tell if someone is coming around the corner, or there are hills so you can't see. when someone is driving slow, it is for a reason.
lady in SUV is at fault. poor judgement while driving.
You don't expect someone to come flying up behind you, in the left lane, when there is double lines.

I'm not saying it was a smart decision to veer into the other lane without looking--it was incredibly dumb on the skaters part--but if they took this one to court, who do you think would win? The skater, who is legally considered a pedestrian lawfully traveling down the road, or the car who passed in a no passing zone on a curvy mountain without looking while speeding?

@FreebieJeebiez Are you illiterate or do you just not pay attention? In the United States (where this was presumably filmed), skateboarders are, by law, considered pedestrians. This was a two-lane road, so he was obviously not on an interstate (ie - He wasn't j-walking). So legally speaking, a pedestrian crossed the road and was hit by a car who was speeding, passing in a no-passing zone, & driving recklessly. That's two tickets and a night in jail for the lady, zilch for the skateboarder.

The main thing here is that we're taught to not cross double solid lines when we are learning to drive. She did so, and there could have been a consequential death from it. Also considering that no matter the circumstances, the lady hit the rider, so she is at fault. She "rear-ended" him.
