  • modest mouse changed my life

  • "Message read on the bathroom wall said I dont feel at all like i thought" ....This line hits a spot in me that Im still not quite sure where it is ... but its beautifully sad

  • @VisionsOfTribal A very astute song, shit's so true

  • @VisionsOfTribal its "i dont feel at all like i fall", sorry to burst your bubble

  • @Jewcymidget talking shit about a pretty sunset. your should also try out band of horses and their songs "the funeral" "the end is near" and "The first song"

  • No other song has ever made being an antisocial working college student feel okay like this one does for me. <3

  • @obsessivechickx Agreed, I'm in the same boat

  • @aykenshire

Now that just made /my/ day.

  • i am a modest mouse enthusiast :).

  • @Hessekimojo you my friend, speak the truth. i love you

  • @darkwatchesvideos and isaac has taught me to laugh and then love you as well.

  • I happened to put this song on today... during the 10th anniversary of 9/11... And even though I'm not American, and didn't lose anyone I knew that day... I feel for those helpless people who were faced with such tragedy going to their mundane jobs 10 years ago today...

  • why cant girls be like this song

  • This song represents such a bad time in my life. When I lost all of my friends, and family and started isolating myself in school and at the house. It got me through this time. I would listen to this song everyday. Modest Mouse saved me man. And whenever I hear this song, in particular, I cry.

  • @bassxhippiexlife Right on. I'm not over-exaggerating when i say that Modest Mouse has helped our lives out even a little. They are pure magic through sound.

  • @sbu003 i'm completely convinced that Isaac Brock is a Modern Day Philosopher, if you think about all of the songs he has written, from every single person and even random inanimate objects points of view, its incredible what this man has brought to the table, and to be quite honest it'd really surprise me if i could find another band like this in my life time.

  • If Modest Mouse aren't spot on.. I don't know what is!

  • I listen to this before I head out to work every day.

    Oh, the hopelessness.

  • That album artwork really describes the album.

  • @skippingboy123 Glad you think that too.

  • My Bedst friend just died. this explains the way i feel

  • @deimoscrrazy sorry for your loss bro hang in there

  • i love your user name.

  • this song touches me :')

  • losing all touch, building a desert

  • Whenever I'm having a really shitty day, listening to Modest Mouse is sometimes the only thing that can make me feel better. Thank you Modest Mouse.

  • I guess the world's not too bad...

  • This song is the best possible example of how you don't need anything more than pure talent to create such a beatiful work of art. Simple guitar, simple words, simple drums. Doesn't take much more

  • message read on the bathroom wall said: i don't fell at all like i fall....

  • Does anyone else notice the similarity between this song, and the song from rebecca black-friday?

I know it's horrible but i really think there are some similaritys, especially at the beginning.Maybe the producer of Friday is influenced by Modest Mouse.

  • @tonemine You know what, you're actually kind of right.

  • @tonemine friday i sstuck ing my head i hate you

  • as of right now this is my FAv. song.

  • @spade8ofcbs as of right know your a FAg.

  • I love the way Modest Mouse goes from singing about melodramatic issues to real life situations. It's like they're growing up with me.

  • they write the sound track for my life

  • This song sounds so completely and utterly desserting, depressing and hopeless.. yet why am I so addicted to it? ... gotta love Modest Mouse.

  • 7 people couldn't customize their concern /:

  • @closerrtogod have you

  • who are the 7 bloody fucks that downed this post???

  • This song has been on repeat in the back of my head for about a month now. Yesterday I was looking for a book in the deserted engineering library of the college I go to and saw "I don't feel at all like I Fall" doodled on one of the desks, and underneath it in different handwriting, "we're losing all touch, losing all touch, building a desert." It totally made my day.

  • @aykenshire That is gorgeous. I would love to have discovered that.

  • @aykenshire

i come read this daily ..for the last month or so. it makes my day

  • @aykenshire That's one of the best comments I've ever read on this. :)

  • @aykenshire I often come back to this video just to reread this comment...

  • @aykenshire How can you fuck up the lyrics when they're right under the video

  • @aykenshire jealous.

  • this might be the most underrated modest mouse song

  • I like the Joshua James version better.

  • ''I don't feel at all like I thought''

  • My second favorite from them. <3

  • I normally don't really like this style of music.

But this song, the lyrics, the rhythm, just speak to me.

One of my favorites of all time, thanks for upping it.

  • gotta got work gotta go to work gotta have job

  • love this so much!

  • 6 dislikes and one jcaps1990s who sick of knowing about all the people that dont like his songs...

  • this is one of my favorite songs

  • Nice instrumental.

  • STOP MAKING FUCKING COMMENTS ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF DISLIKES ITS NOT CLEVER ANYMORE JUST ANNOYING

  • @jcaps1990s chill yo

  • @jcaps1990s stop making comments about other peoples comments, its not "cool" anymore. I Guess.

  • @jcaps1990s 10 people dislike this song because they are on a long drive with nothing to think about.

  • @ROSSZip I dont see how that makes any sense.

  • @airsplat490 Album title: "This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About"

  • @ROSSZip Yes, but that makes much more sense

  • @jcaps1990s Yeah but how could you dislike this song? I could see not liking it . But disliking makes no sense.

  • @crobarus That's what dislike means.

  • @smokyp3nguin There's a difference. If I don't "like"shaved pussy. Doesn't mean I dislike it.

  • @crobarus hahaha, oh boy. Do you see the problem with your comment? I love laughing.

  • 4 people find it more comfortable to leave their thumbs in the downwards resting position.

Things are just things because people like....agree on stuff, man. Words are just like, conformity. You know what I mean....right?

  • Very Melancholy

  • 4 people don't like this song

  • 4 people enjoy busting their asses for the man.

  • i like turtles :)

  • this is a beautiful song, two thumbs up! interesting point of view and wicked way of expression, I love MM and all music!

  • every time i hear "gotta go to work, gotta go to work. gotta have a job"

    i just think "why...?"

  • four people are dick managers

  • is that a violin or what??/ whatever it is.. i fucking love it... at the end you know? is blows my mind

  • @shafer0292 To me it sounds either like a double bass playing very high, or one of the indian bowed instruments. Probably the latter.

  • modest mouse is everything. they really mean a lot to me.

they really depress me though. although I get depressed too easily. but then again, one just can't stop listening. it's like a very fucked up addiction:/

  • @BritishRulez Agreed. With everything you said. Modest Mouse isn't just a band to me. I listen to them, and they both tear me up and heal me. They allow me to feel, instead of bearing the inevitable numbness that closely follows each day. Such a sad and desolate tune, but it holds so much heart and meaning. I really love Modest Mouse.

  • @MassHero Yeah they really appeal to every single emotion a human can have......... a musical roller-coaster if you will.... God I love 'em...... it's like they can't do anything wrong! I was on the Panic tour for 10 years... it was fantastic......but MM keeps on blowing my mind!

  • this is honestly one of modest mouse's best songs, sorry if you don't agree...

and then came Good News and We Were Dead.

  • i never tire of hearing modest mouse

  • i have a "custom concern" 4 the people that disliked this. that is im concerned ill end up in jail.

  • yeah meto yinzer, this describes exactly how i feel when i look out into the world

  • Seasick Steve is playing the slide guitar on this track.

  • @iamyourgranddaddy thats fuckin cool

  • @iamyourgranddaddy no kidding?

  • to Yinzerdude I'm pretty sure this song is about politics.

  • Thanks for putting this up and I don't mean to sound like an asshole, but some of the lyrics are incorrect.

  • @righteousrat lol you asshole.

  • Modest Mouse fucking owns!!!!

  • @nothing2offer I don't get it?

  • @nothing2offer Yeah his voice is high an most stufff prior to good news for people who love bad news. But It doesn't bother me for some reason. And the lyrics in almost everything are incredible.

  • The BBC radio edit sounds much different. It is instrumental and edited bigtime

  • @Guercinator it is a pretty odd version that seems to be stripped of all the feeling in a way, or that could be simply because i have no attachment to it like i do the original

  • everytime that girls voice comes in it sends chills down my spine. good chills

  • The person that uploaded this video has a nice collection of music, and YOU SHOULD ALL GO CHECK IT OUT, and pay him his respects. Because this is a gift from heaven both from Modest mouse, to have all this music free from the user. We are all in his debt everytime we listen to this blessed music.

  • @michael102387

jesus fuck, the guy didn't die or anything. "pay him his respects"? what're you eighty?

if anything you should be thanking the alcohol that got isaac brock drunk enough to wright this beautiful hunk of shit.

  • @michael102387 The people who really appreciate these uploads have been listening to these songs for years, and I physically own a great chunk of their collection. I appreciate the existence of these videos, but he's not some angelic youtube user...queer.

  • Songs like this remind me why Modest Mouse is my favorite band of all time. It just brings back so many good memories.

  • @crassisdead Couldnt say it better

  • esta cancion fue la ultima cancion que oyie antes de vinir me aci................. shut u PUTO'S who dont have such a bad job but think they do u stupid ******

  • I heard a song in my head that was godly and I only saw tree tips moving towards me but not. I saw a 2 dimensional plane of empty faces with huge crazy eyes.

I do suggest doing shrooms in the sun

  • @NmHman127Nugget

Watch the movie Pi, & don't stare @ the sun. :P

  • Message read on the bathroom wall "I don't feel at all like I fall, and we're losing all touch building a desert"

  • Yeah it clearly says "i don't feel at all like i fall" if you listen its not hard to tell

  • Comment removed

  • This song so matches my mood of being a lonely single depressed tool that works to make the man happy.

  • @Yinzerdude make me a sandwich

  • @Triscuit1010 OMFG LMAO

  • well said man.

  • @Yinzerdude join the club.

  • @Yinzerdude yeah im tryin my best to see that that doest happen

  • @Yinzerdude goddamn, this is the best thing i've ever read

  • @Yinzerdude fuck yeah man

  • got to go to work

    got to go to work

    gotta have a job......

  • oh mahh god i hate this job

  • @looshkin66 My favorite part. I wish he would repeat that throughout the song...

  • it's not about being in key in this bands case, its just all about the song, not individual parts or a collection of parts.

    thats what i think anyway

  • Way to completely miss everything Modest Mouse was/is about.

  • LOL. I never thought is was bad, but then again like many others I'm a hardcore modest mouse fan.

A lot of the appeal is in the lyrics. As far as this particular band goes.

  • @XxMetalManxX It's music. Not a job. He did what he loves. if you dont know research WHY Modest Mouse chose their name.

  • One of my favorite songs ever. Just incredible.

  • Me Too!

  • Yes.

  • Just wonderin if any one elese noticed the riff and beggining from The Moon and Antartica

  • the lyrics in the info are wrong...its:

"didn't see no signs that they would yeild, and then thought"

    then:

"this'll never end, this'll never end, this'll never stop"

    and then:

"message read on the bathroom wall said: i don't feel at all like a fall:

  • @hahabored

HA YOURE WRONG THE INFO IS RIGHT ABOUT I DONT FEEL AT ALL LIKE I THOUGHT

  • nah dude the little booklet that comes with the cd says it's "I don't feel at all like I fall"

  • Message read on the bathroom wall said:

I don't feel at all like I thought

    And we're losing all touch

    Losing all touch

Building a desert.....i can feel where he is coming from on that i think we all can....modest mouse you never seize to amaze me.

  • I love this song

too bad my cd is f*cked up

    I need this song back

but I'll live with the instrumental version that's on Moon and Antarctica (it's still really good, sounds, happy, kinda)

  • this is poetry

    bless modest m

  • not sure how isaac would feel about being blessed...

  • very strange, i had the same thought the moment I posted it :)

  • Nice song. It actually seems like one of their more straightforward ones to me.

  • being a communist nihilist is kinda depressing. but I suppose you're still just a nihilist lol.

  • i like this kinda music a lot of times just because of the different kinda people it attracts who i would want to get to know. for god's sake, the "communistnihilist" uploaded this

  • wow.... i love this song so much... its ridiculous haha...

  • good rytham i like it a lot

  • OH WOW! i would never have thought that anyone listening to modest mouse liked conor oberst. you should check out tmares1983's page. he has it all.. almost. =) .... wow im amused. good choice.

  • issac Brock and Connor Oberst are 2 of my favorite artists =D

  • gotta go to work gotta go to work gotta have a job

  • i love the voice crack when

    Got to go to work

    Got to go to work

    Got to have a job

    is sung. so beautiful.

    Work blows!

  • My dad used to listen to these guys. I remember it was on one of his mix tapes when he would drive to the office in his shitty red car in the dead of a winter's downtown.

I hear this song and I smell cigarettes and remember my childhood.

  • You were a kid in 1996?

  • Oh god, one of my favorite Modest Mouse songs EVER.

  • Yeah, first time hearing this song. Masterpiece. Brock definitely has an anarchist streak, but it is not violent, more resigned and contemplative. As if the desert were inevitable. Best lyrical mind since Dylan, in my view.

  • spot on mate

  • MM is definatly one of my favorite bands too. Their lyrics are amasing, but if you are going to compare them to Dylan's then first listen to some Connor Oberst's lyrics

  • This is such a crushingly sad song... Brilliant work on their part.

  • Dude they should have used this in Office Space man

  • Comment removed

  • This band means so much to me.

  • reading these comments made me crygasm
