Words... Don't mean so much to me... I'd rather wait and see... See what happens when the lights go down with your arms around me... Time, time t leave the world behind.. Save it for an0other time, cause I don't remember where I am when.. you start to.. love me!! Baby love baby love! Baby love! Just hold me! Baby baby sweet baby! Girl I hold you close to me, it's perfection 1st degree. Cause I don't remember where I am when you..m Move me! baby lo-ove oh baby lo-oooove! Such romantic perfection@
1986 was probably one of THE most profitable years the music business has EVER seen, across EVERY genre. So many songs/artists were doing well, and impacting in pivotal ways that year.
Long live 80s music!!! This was the era that if U were young U probably weighed somewhere around 120 pounds because U danced all the time 2 great songs like this one. I know I did. :-)
Damn, I remember being six or seven when I first started hearing this one on the radio. I got so excited cos I thought it was a new Madonna song and my brother (who must've been ten years old) had to break the news to me that, sadly, it was Madonna. Still, this is a great song! I'd totally forgotten all about it until I looked up Shannon's "Give Me Tonight" and I saw this in the related vids section. So glad it's back in my head LOL!
More than a Madonna wannabe, Regina was part of the tail end of 80's fun music. 1986 was a terribly eclectic and forgettable year for pop music. Madonna and Cyndi Lauper were getting more serious (although arguably much better) and the pop landscape was riddled with over synthesized hair spray garbage. While it may have been the worst year ever for pop music, Baby Love by Regina was a nice exception. Other memorable stuff from '86 included Bruce Hornsby, Bon Jovi, Pet Shop Boys and Pretenders.
@TheZuppaStar Forgettable? What about Genesis, Robert Palmer, Mr. Mister (just to name a few), who all had hit singles and albums at this time? Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" (and an excellent video for the era), also released in 1986, forgettable, too?
If you haven't guessed by now, I thought 1986 was a good year for music.
By the way, the Regina song was pretty darned good ,too.
@basherman69 Thank you. Not to mention The Smiths ('The Queen is Dead' for crying out loud), R.E.M.'s 'Life's Rich Pageant, O.M.D.'s 'Pacific Age', Sigue Sigue Sputnik etc.
@upyerrzzz1 You're welcome, though, I am unfamiliar with most of the works you mention. I actually had to Wiki everything on your list. Not trying to disrespect your choices, as everyone has his/her favorites from that year. OMD did have a hit US single, "If You Leave", in '86, but I'm not familiar with anything R.E.M. did before 1988's "Stand".
To further show that '86 was a good year for music, how about Janet Jackson and the Bangles, who broke through that year?
@upyerrzzz1 Bon Jovi's 1986 "Slippery When Wet" spent eight weeks at #1 on The Billboard Top 100 chart including two #1 hits. The album sold over 12 million copies in the United States and over 28 million copies worldwide. It was named the top selling album of 1987 by Billboard and is currently the 21st best-selling studio album of all time. The album is featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. I think that meets the definition of "memorable" ... cheesy shit or not!
Reminds me of 'Holiday' by Madonna

Awww.. I just love this song so much!! Of all the slew of "madonna-esque" songs that came out in the 80s this is by far the best.

When I first heard this for the very first time I thought it was Madonna's new single.I still love the bass line and percussion. Very sexy groove.
