I think they could do enough damage without the knifes. They are good defence moves the instuctor is using if he was doing punches or hand stabs to the areas he is attacking he would pretty much disable the attacker. I know its only training but i can see that alot of the attacker body manipulation techneques and weight shifting techneques are farmiliar to me. The counter weight shifting and bloking here is excellent.

Much respect to Frans Stroeven and his organizations.He's one of the few non-filipino FMA instructors that i really look up to.Very humble,his style is direct and simple.I like the European crews better than most of the US crew in FMA.

it depends on the grip. generally, not strictly, hammer grip the back of the palm side, if icepick grip, use the palm side. check out misparry using these and you'll know why. hope these helps

I just watched all 3 videos from this series. Thanks for putting it on video. It's great to see no nonsense training combined with the traditional element. There are a lot of hidden details. We also teach people to always be aware of possible knives. Too many people do not.
