  • This is sad on all levels

  • What in the world is wrong with that guy's mic on the right

  • Last time I checc sue simmons cursed on air n it wasnt positive but yall didnt grill here lik yall grillin dem

  • pretty obvious that he doesn't know what goes on on BET or he'd easily see the satire. And even if you don't understand it you could at least be a respectful and objective interviewer but instead he was being an asshole. You don't deserve your job sir.

  • It reached it's target audience and did it's job. The packaging is the same as all the other rap videos and other degenerate shit that's shown on BET daily but the message behind it isn't 'fuck bitches and get drunk" or something along those lines. The only surprising thing viewers found in that video was the positive message and the audience had to actually think about what crap they'd been watching on a normal basis to get to the point where they'd be surprised by "read a book"s message.

  • I lol'd so hard when the CNN spokesman said "with that big booty" xD

  • lol he said pliers

  • LOL! He thinks the video is racist and terrible and doesn't even get it!

    Satire has to be funny....

    Oh goodness...

  • "I am 30 years old and fully understand satire."

You just have no sense of humor and editorialize like a mofuckka

Be objective be objective be objective and shit!

  • This was on CNN..!?

But the reporter acted like he was on fox.. In other words he acted like an idiot!

  • @Ulrna Ahahahaha! Nice!

  • Newscaster is an Uncle Tom

  • Don't you love how they chastised an animation and right after show vets with their legs blown off?

  • What is the argument? That this is inapropriate for pre teens? I was in a public school the other day and every kid was swearing like a sailor.

  • I can't believe this idiot "kids don't understand satire". What a moron. Maybe he was dumb at 11 or 12 . My 12 year old daughter understands it just fine, maybe because she read some mother fucking books.

  • @MindofaJedi If I could thumb you up a million times, I would. I learned what satire when I was 6-7 years old.

If a kid doesn't understand satire, it's because the parents never bothered to teach it, or don't know what it is themselves.

  • I should say too, at the very end, Bomani's right. The fact that people came out and started a fuss saying, "Do we want kids to see this," means that the mission was starting to get accomplished. That was the entire point, even if it wasn't the way they thought it'd work.

  • I'm seeing a lot of comments about "the reporter ain't black" and shit. Why does being a belligerent dumbass mean he isn't "black"? Personality and wisdom don't care about color, and vice versa. the cultures are different, but culture isn't really a color either (aka R-A-B's point).

I see this in schools too. The African-American kid who does his homework and reads gets picked on as "not being black". It's like saying Obama isn't black -- it's stupid, wrong, and why the hell does it matter?

  • "If your kid is watching Rap City in the first place, that's a problem". I love how he makes a very relevant point and they keep bitching. Word.

  • Seriously?? Get over yourself. It was funny...leave it alone. Go spend some time in the ghetto. You'll see that the cartoon WAS DEAD ON!

  • ooh but a bay bay can be on bet with girls shaking they behinds smh the media cracks me up all they want is kids to be fantasized about this nonsense they put on tv but u will never hear them argue about britney spears stripping naked in front of the tv screen i tell you this country is so backwards it dont even make sense but the thing they should of not had in the video was all the cussing it wouldve been a better message without all the curse words that was in that song they made and thebooty

  • CNN-Control Negroes(Niggas)Now? Convert the Negroe Nation? Categorize Niggers Nationally? Am I hitting the nail on the head? On second thought black people don't watch the news(what they chose to tell you mixed with lies, but thats to long so i shortened it)they'd rather watch carmelo and la la and shaq's ex wife

  • Media reporters bitch about everything. If That was Chris brown talking about beating on some cunt that would be ok. But no books!!!!

  • I like that this story they just found the only two black guys that have no humor

  • "Kids don't understand satire."

Yes they do. Fucking mad magazine. God I hate adults that thing kids are stupid.

  • trust , that reporter would never talk to white ppl that way. look how he treats his own ppl. like their stupid and ignorant , just the way whites treat blacks. SMH. thats sad

  • Why cant these guys talk one at a time?

  • the black bill o reilly.

  • Their song made read a book. This reporter aint really black

  • Aint nothin offensive about this song because it's all damn true!!!

  • I agree with mwardia1...that reporter is a House Nigga.

  • this reporter is fucking stupid...

    its fucking SATIRE!!!

The creators are trying to make a mockery of there people, which is NOT offensvie

  • I dont agree with the reporter.....the creators know their audience and are targeting that perfectly!

  • that reported is being such A WHITE ARS*EHOLE!

  • uncle tom nigga,, he keeps show because white people watch it,, even if he liked it,, he cant,, not on tv,,,, comon,, drink water,, read books,, brush your teeth,, buy land,,hhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmmmmm,,,,,tv is hell,, sellll,,and buy,,, it seems this world cares more about the negative,, not the positive,,,,,,, im native american,,,,

and i approve of this message,,

  • uncle tom as reporter shit doesn't make since man

  • This reporter, let's just call him "Tom," is just mistakenly assuming that all people of color get up, brush their teeth, wear deodorant, buy land, and read books like he does. Get a clue, get a clue, get a goddamn clue!!

  • I can Garnette you a 12 year old can understand satire.

  • What a prick

  • @3:04 Omg I would've lmao if he'd responded 'read a book nigga!'

  • That anchor is the definition of an uncle tom he doesn't lets this guy get a word in

  • its great

  • I agree with the creator. People need to understand what kids see everyday outside of this cartoon. The reporter is Uncle Tom. Period.

  • this anchor is a complete douchebag

  • How dare they insult our consumerist driven society with such a video/ This is an outrage.

  • "We have given you EXACTLY what you wanted!" Yes you have given some creative guys the chance to tell misguided black youth how to make something of themselves.

At first a black youth will laugh and then, if he has the insight to see the satire will ask himself: "Do I read books and DO the adults around me buy land/businesses?

  • Got damn Honky Reporter!!!! That Must be Clayton Bigsby...

  • WOW, I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT MOST OF YOU DUMB NIGGAS ARE ATTACKING THE REPORTER AND GIVING THE OTHER GUY A FREE PASS....NO WONDER WHY OUR RACE IS ON THE BOTTOM

  • He did this to get under peoples skin? Duh. Making fun of the hip hop lifestyle. I have to agree, that reporter is a fucking moron. Spare me the fake outrage.

  • no offense to yankees but your media is so screwed up. and im embarassed that the european media looks up to yours... the reporter is just nitpicking that one fucking scene from the video which is maybe a bit controversial with the songs meaning but FUCK! i'll be as retarded as he is and make a conclusion that he actually approves of all the actually explicit material on MTV etc. which is visible to kids 24/7

  • When I was eight, I watched Gundam Wing and fully appreciated its context. I think kids these days are more than capable of appreciating satire- there's just not much incentive to do so when you're eleven. Now, BOOM!, here's incentive.

  • This reporter doesn't represent black people, he represents his corporate masters that bend him over every night.

  • Where's the first part?

  • I'm just wondering how those hundreds of people evacuated in Idaho are doing...

  • That reporter is a closeminded mother fucker.

  • Whoops. You can't show that songs that tell people to brush their teeth and wearing deodorant...but you can show them the other songs that promote brushing teeth with jack and wearing skimpy clothing...that also use the same level of language. Thanks CNN!

  • @eaterofcandy The reporter was too opinionated, but he was right. The way they packaged this song was all wrong. No one listened to their message because the imagery and curse words were so overwhelming. They failed miserably in their mission. People took this video as a joke because it looked like that. Doesn't matter if the message was intended to be positive because it was packaged negatively.

  • @whateverman181 I disagree. i feel like the cursewords and imagery help to get the message across more strongly. most of the time when it comes to ads that try to support positive things like reading, no one listens to them because theyre too "goody goody". the fact that this video took things that appear in popular media already and then spun them around to promote a positive message is incredibly effective, because kids will look at it and think "read a mutha fuickin book. huh. thats cool."

  • @greetingzuzers Well I still disagree. Their target audience did not take this video seriously. They took it as a joke and laughed it off. If they wanted to do something clever and smart they should look at artists like Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def or Nas.

  • What the fuck is wrong with the dumb ass reporter?!?!? Those guys who wrote that song were just trying to get a positive message across. Artists, I salute you.

  • that anchor is a modern day house negro ... and to the fools who are surprised to see such a colonied fool run his master's errands on CNN ... READ A BOOK and decolonize your mind. start with Assata Shakur

  • that CNN anchor is nothing but a modern-day house negro. fucking colonized uncle tom.

  • they did no wrong & they just trying tell us right that anchor is a bitch

  • lol assimilationist niggas on cnn..who woulda thought?

  • IF the video had been geared towards 12 year olds, I could see their point, but the kids watching this are teenagers, and they can work out the satire. This interviewer is fail.

  • WOW cant believe this is CNN. sounds like a FOX news interview. disappointed. and the anchor needs to DIE.

  • The anchor is a complete douche

  • they said nothing throughout this entire video, it was a pointless interview

  • the video made me want to raise my goddamn kids.

  • um, the video made my wanna raise my goddamn kids.

  • Why do i want to punch that fuckin anchor in the face

  • I hate when people think kids are stupid...

Plenty of kids understand when someone is making fun of something...

Seriously, how complex do they think satire is?

  • What's funny to me is that the reporter found the booty offensive but not the use of the word nigger. I don't know that just me.

  • Yes, I am a AA woman. I see they did this is a fun way to SADLY get the attention of our community, IT worked. If they would put it in PLAIN music, like on a Kanye West in a good way, It probably would get played every so often. It was in a JOKINGLY way and they still get bashed? Kind of shows you cannot win for loosing. I first seen this it was midnight when kids were in the bed, years ago. Now kids stay up more often than anything but the parents point blame on everyone else.

  • So let me get this straight. It's ok for blacks to kill each other, and for that duckfucker Taronteno to use the word Nigga every minute in his movies. But to tell blacks to take care of themselves. That wrong? Rappers have been exploiting women's bodies for year. But a cartoon gets them up set. Bullshit!

  • @Diamonddusted68 yah its fucked up man.

  • So let me get this straight. It's ok for blacks to kill each other, and for that duckfucker Taronteno to use the word Nigga every minute in his movies. But to the blacks to take care of themselves. That wrong? Rappers have been exploiting women's bodies for year. But a cartoon gets them up set. Bullshit!

  • I applaud the guests for keeping their cool.... that reporter was a cunt.

  • The reporter is kind of being a dick

  • Pliers

  • "Do you watch BET?" -He won the whole argument with this one point alone.

  • fuck cnn

  • What cracks me up is that the reporter is friggin BLACK!! What ever happened to impartiality? Is he mad that the animator is telling the truth? I mean, I guess he can't relate since from his behavior, he's acting like some suburban-raised, conservative, up-and-proper, bougie prick! I thought it was clever and the point of the animation was spot on. The reporter should lose his job, he got way too emotional for a reporter and he's a dickhead.

  • man, that is a smart dude. why people attack this guy, the video is funny and it gets the point in. the reporter is a fuckin joke. i would love to punch that guy.

  • @brandonstarr1 I would love to punch this reporter too lol.

  • jesus i wish i could kick the reporter in the balls and piss on his face while hes crouched in pain. what a total cunt

  • never watching CNN again i thought fox was bad only news channel im watching now is MSNBC fuck u CNN and fuck u fox the

P.S. reporter is such an asshole i want his name so i can complain and get his ass fired that guy deserves to be homeless lose all his money and be fucking miserable for the rest of his life

  • I can't believe the black interviewer was all mad about the video. God, what a fucking sellout to white racist culture. So it's okay to teach young black boys to treat their fellow girls like cum dumpsters, convince them the only manly pursuits in life are drugs, rap or basketball, and to be violent? It's not okay to tell black kids there's a better life out there? Okay, whatever asshole. Inb4 black hater, I'm white.

  • @sarahaudrey03 You're awesome.

  • The outrage is completely misplaced. The real concern is the possibility that children are absorbing the messages of crunk rap: when faced with messages that we actually want kids to hear (such as "brush your goddamned teeth) it forces us to acknowledge all the shit we don't want them listening to.

  • Is that news reporter an uncle tom??? He was rude as hell too!!!

  • 0:11 did he jus say pliers lmao

  • @justoocut3 lmfaooooo

  • @justoocut3 well....thats what his name actually is. Plies said he has a tight grip on the game like some plies (his pronounciation of the word pliers).

  • I really liked the video and it sends a good message and the images were entertaining. This reporter doesn't understand that you need to catch the viewer's attention to get them to listen to the message. He's not interested in what the future generation is learning as is, he really shouldn't have pushed his selfish opinions over an interview.

  • Read a Book Nigga

  • I am African American and I don't think this song and video is offensive because it's the truth. Maybe this was the only way this man could get the audiences attention.

  • Again this shows that CNN=RETARDED

  • @militaMem3 Hey now, CNN has some saving grace. Anderson Cooper reports for CNN. And I mean he actually "reports.' Not like the dickhead you saw on this video screaming at the animator.

  • @belias360 Yeah no. Cooper is opinionated too. Anderson doesn't just report the news he has an opinion on everything. Not only that he sometimes particpates and becomes the news himself. CNN has been going down in quality for a long time.

  • WTF, stupid reporter, whats he sayin kids dont get satire, im a kid, and satire an sarcasm is a part of everyday life! and at 1:28 - 1:32 HAHAHHAhAHA lol he said it as it is, he prob liked it, hahaha, "with the big booty, with the big booty balck woman bouncin up and down" !!

  • HOW DARE THEY TELL ME THAT READING A BOOK IS EDUCATIONAL AND WATER IS GOOD FOR ME! HOW DARE YOU TELL ME TO USE DEODORANT AND BRUSH MY TEETH!

  • @Wecomeforyoutonight you probly need to brush ur teeth if the case is that you dont, stank ass breath hahaha

  • @Wecomeforyoutonight i know right this nigga be tripping acting like taking care of your self cool and shit

  • @Wecomeforyoutonight cuz you smell like shit...

  • @Wecomeforyoutonight just do it MUTHAFUNKA or else YOU SIR WILL SMELL LIKE CRAPPY SHITTY BOOTY

  • All of Your Comments are Talkin Real Shit..

I had to Thumbs up Like 6 of them..

  • This is fucking mind blowing. what am i watching. What. It encouraged fiscal and personal responsibility in order to solve problems in inner city ghettos. Remember "buy some land, fuck spinning rims"? Are you trying to tell me that's bad advice? this insane.

  • That reporter is a bitch. It's a damn shame to have your own people become double agents.

  • compared to some stuff on tv, to focus in on this video is absolutely absurd and sad, this video is like pg to some stuff, and like, even the message behind the video has great morale values behind it, children listening and watching to it can learn off it and really be better people, fuck that shit, this is fucking retarded.

  • Comment removed

  • @Cute185 Ok I'm not black but that is disrespectful period, learn where to put your words, I bet you hate it when people talk a bunch of crap about you so dont do it on here, heck dont do it period, I'll admit the song is not the best and I do not support provacative language and all that but its life just live with it, btw half of my friends are black and are as smart as most college students

  • i felt like punching the dumbass reporter in the face

  • This reporter is horrid.

He was being unprofessional and hostile. I understand he wanted to stir up some debate so he could get some strong opinions from everyone, but he came off as a complete twat.

The video was clever and entertaining and it had a good message, how is any of that a bad thing?

  • im 13 and i understand satire...dumbass reporters need to learn that kids are smarter than they think.

  • the creators right

  • What's up with the uncle tom reporter

  • found the video by listening to Joe Clair and Earthquake Radio show, 9.29.10 Goto the 5min mark.

  • The parents and black guy from CNN are bought niggas. I applaud the creator of this song and video. The music industry is trash, so the creator of the song sunk to their level with a positive message and this clown from CNN tries to berate the man. Give me a break. How dare you try to attack this person trying to deliver a positive message. What world does host of CNN live in? This CNN hose has always been a joke. If parents were being parents and not friends, then the issue won't exist.

  • @keithpal BRAVO my friend BRA fucking VO!

u make an exelent point, completely 100% agree w/ u

  • ... i can't believe that anyone would attack this.

i mean, do they even know what kind of fucked up shit kids listen to today? they listen to shit that has the same language and imagery used in read a book, which is why they used it.

i mean, how do you teach babies to read? you don't put them in a classroom and a teacher righting on a chalkboard, you give them colorful pictures and simple words, stuff that they relate too.

its the same concept, just more modern and pointed towards teens.

  • This guy has absolutely no sense of humor.

  • This is hilarious. People imitate what they see on TV. If they see some thugnificent rapper flashing his "Piece" and slapping asses, then people are gonna imitate that. If they see some guy rappin about getting a higher education, and being clean, then they are gonna imitate that. You cannot tell me that the song is any worse than what kids are listening to today.

  • Comment removed

  • Fucking media is full of idiots.

  • And further more - this isn't a kids video, duh! They're talking about buying land, for goodness sake. This video is more aimed towards preteens and teens - and that age group is already watching rap videos anyway. They're not watching Sesame Street or Blues Clues anymore because guess what? Those shows aren't realistic.

  • Wtf are these guys talking about? That video was awesome! It was real and had a realistic message. Kids watch these booty-shakin rap videos all the time, at least this one has a message.

  • who is this dude (black at that) so tenaciously attacking this video which clearly is trying to be positive, and satirizes the negative messages being sent out through a lot of mainstream rap?

  • WOW the host is a FUCKING IDIOT.

  • cnn is full of faggots

  • What the f**k? Really???? Why is he attacking those guys! He's a f*cking idiot. CLEARLY he never watched BET before. 106 and Park shows EVERYTHING the cartoon shows but its not a cartoon its real: Spinning Rims, Booty's shaking, etc. This is on BET all day everyday. Its on TV in general. It simply is a parody. Cartoons are not always for children because if that was the case all children should watch Adult Swim.

  • striparella, the movie cool world, Jessica Rabbit. The only reason this song is bashed is because it's a hard lesson taught by men who knew the tools would work. It's easier to punish the teacher who paddles the child, than punish the child because he is chooses not to learn.

  • Obviously biased anchor is pathetic.

  • Is CNN turning into FOXNEWS? wtf? Fuck them!

  • its hilarious when they cut to Sell Out Bitch #2 his mic is so much louder than everyone else that it begins to get distorted. I hope the two CNN shills were embarrassed for this broadcast.

  • CNN reporter gets OWNED at 1:30

  • How dare the creators of this video try to respond with reasonable points and a rational argument!

  • Freedom of speech. Old people, shut the fuck up.

  • This song is brilliant in that it is wrapped up for the people that listen to the current genre of rap, which is mostly about banging chick after dirty-ass chick, doing drugs and being in gangs. This song has nothing but positive messages! Honestly, do you think it'd be half as popular if it was a country song? I don't think so!

  • Wow, I cannot believe this video was attacked. Of course it's not meant for kids, and neither is most of the programming on BET, hell, most of the programming on any given television network! And just because all of the cartoon characters from the video were black doesn't mean the message should be exclusively for black people, people of all races need to read books, raise their goddamn kids, drink water, brush their goddamn teeth, and wear some deodorant!

  • this is proof CNN and Fox are very much the same

  • The interviewer is rude and condescending. He talked over the others on a regular basis, in an abortive attempt to get them riled up. NONE of the other gentlemen (and that term solidly applies to all three) took the bait. The epitome of rudeness is when he said "...I can turn off the mic..." Really? To what end? I saw this and called my kids in specifically to watch it. I think it's hilarious. I think it's great. I think it got its message across. Thank you for posting it!

  • All the well to do blacks are the gate keepers...to keep the other blacks dumb-downed----The video was brilliant...phuck those uppidy negroes.....

  • The black reporter is a part of the mainstream media which is controlled by the government. And the government doesn't want to see black people coming up. They want blacks to be uneducated, to join gangs to kill each other off, to have drug and crime ridden neighborhoods, to go to prison. He was just obeying his puppet masters. The govt tricks blacks into thinking they're here to help them and then fuck them when elected. Search YouTube for "Prodigy Of Mobb Deep Speaks On Ron Paul And Obama".

  • they tryin helping some ppl out. i like the vid. it help ppl out.

  • That reporter was a total fucking tool.

  • @DaMagnificentShazaam It's CNN, what do you expect?

  • @DaMagnificentShazaam He's not a reporter. Reporters remain impartial and 'report' the news. This guy is most definitely a tool though.

  • I dont see how its racist. Whats shown in the cartoon is exactly what is shown in the videos. Its hilarious to those who have common sense, in that an education is better than material wealth. I think the director said it best. "Fix the Problem" Its a shame that more people dont understand the message and therefore they find it offensive

  • I loved the video in question. I think often times humor, satire specifically, can be a tool to help people view aspects of society in a different light. I think it's an important message.

Also animation does not equal made for kids. The amount of animated adult humor on American television should be a good sign of this.

  • There was a national testof peoples I.Q.'s and whatmusic theylistened to.

Classical Music listeners had the highest I.Q.

Lil Wayne fans had the lowest.

The song in question, I beleave is a satire of this fact, saying you should read a book, not worry about drinking, smoking, and doing drugs, if you want a better life.

  • this reporter was a dickhead.

  • fuck the kids!

  • im surprised bet wanted people to read, considering they are out to destroy the black race

  • the only one made a fool of here is the interviewer. how appallingly transparent and ridiculous he is.

the video i question is sheer brilliance. the reaction to it is proof enough.

  • i understand what he did completly if it like sublimimessaging ( may have spelled that wrong) but cnn has to screw up the the video and the meaning..

  • i hate cnn they are always rasist an judgmental they have people on there show to make a fool of them, disrespect them,an cut them off they never want to listen ughhh

  • MEDIA is bullshit

  • lmao dis nigga said "Pliers" OMG!!!!!!!!!

  • If parents don't want their kids to watch this on the internet, then they should RAISE THEIR KIDS, RAISE THEIR KIDS, RAISE THEIR GODDAMN KIDS!!

  • @ninjakoji111 Oh damn that's hilarious!
