  • The pick definition on the Maxon is waaaaaay better.

  • @ViLLZzZz Maxon!

  • Hey man nice tone, which pedal you would recommend me for boosting my Marshall JCM 602-with ESP Alexi Laiho and A Les Paul standard?Nice dog btw :d

  • Nice, been trying to decide between these exact 2 pedals and you just helped me out bigtime.

  • Badass chugging riff, I like it. I think the OCD sounds a little clearer as the booster.

  • Both are excellent pedals for that application. You sir, kick ass btw. Excellent Riff, ultra chunky!

  • @buzzsaw63 Thanks! My buddy Nick from Unearth did it. My next video will have the whole song with him in it;)

  • BTW that drum track goes perfect

  • Definitely your best video! Sweet riffs, great taste in music. Keep up the good work!

  • i wish i was more into metal to hear the differences in the 2 tones... oh well.

  • I was thinking of using the ocd foe lead and od9 for chunky rytham

  • That is awsome man, I have the ocd, but I am thinking of buying the maxon od9 pro plus, whatndo you think?

  • @crate718 The OD9 will have better mids and add attack. Just depends on what you are going for!!

  • @crate718 DON'T BUY THE OD9 PRO PLUS, it's not worth the money, it's too creamy for metal !

  • @f3r0m0n lol, creamy, the regulular od9 is better, or should I stick with 808

  • @crate718 if u want tight tone buy the regular ibanez ts9 or maxon 820 , 808 is fine, od9+ pro sucks ass from my experience, if you like creamy ( thats what they claim on the maxon site) go for it. I don't like undefined mids, low mids. if you like this go for it

  • @f3r0m0n that is how I feel about the ocd, its great for soloing, it makes my 5150 sound like a marshall, ocd sounds great with my blackstar dis tx pedal, I guess the 808 is the best for metal, the only think sucks its not true by pass

  • Thanks for finally doing a review of the maxon that isn't like southern rock!

  • @pivetlord13 Haaaaahahaha

  • Neither... Get a boss super overdrive

  • @Lavabug There are small differences but yes that was more or less the point of the vid.

  • I can't tell the difference in the video, was that the point of this comparison? Do they sound the same as boosts?

  • Great video man, I knew the OCD was great already but I hadn't heard this side of it and I was keen to before finally purchasing it, great job, thank you!

  • @JxLamdin090 Thanks for watching man!

  • I like OCD, it sounds clean. Maxon has got more harmonics and warmth but sounds muddy. Which version of OCD is this? v4?

  • @zenelka76 Yes sir V4!

  • @fluff191 Thanks!

  • nice comparison.... great sounding! love it...

  • Maxon sounds a bit compressed to me

  • Poor little dog in the background! Ain't it deaf by now? ;-)

  • Fearedse FTW!!

  • AWESOME TONE, no doubt about it

  • A two Channel? Oh Lord, what a majestic amp you have there my friend

  • gus is a bamf

  • @0311campbelljk Yeah he is!!!

  • @fluff191 you bastard

im selling my mark v head now to get a dual rec with a moxon boost !

the mark v just dont have the balls like a dual rec

  • @dusted04 Glad I could help! ;)

  • @dusted04 ...the mark V is a good amp and you can get such a sound out of it....the problem is, the mark v isn't easy to handle... and other people will confirm you that the mark v will need some time to master..... ( time= more than jsut 2 weekends tying out etc... a friend of mine took about a year to set up his road king exactly the way he wanted it) ^^ ...if you want an amp that sounds good jsut by plug and play, get ya a g-dec xD

  • Stinking awesome, dude.

  • 0:37 Hi Gus!

  • I've checked several of your vids and they all sound AWESOME!

Cuuld you please share your settings for the amp settings here?

I do play a Mesa Dual Rectifier (and as a matter of fact, the OD808 aswell) but my sound is not even close to this....

    keep it up!

  • Hey there! Can you give an idea of your eq??? Thanks! Cool vid \m/

  • Hmm... Somehow the Maxon sounds a little "bigger" :o Do you have any experiences with a Single Rectifier? I am planning to buy one, but maybe you have some hints about how to set it up or does it have a different sound than Dual Rectos when comparing their metal tones?

  • @GibsonRocker1958 The single Recto will be almost identical in sound as the Dual Recto, but with less options. I usually start with the tone controls at noon and work from there. Keep the bass right around noon or less to prevent muddiness and you will be good to go!

  • @fluff191 Ok, Thanks mate!

  • Maxon sounds smoother. The ocd is to harsh for that much distortion.

  • Maxon!

  • Fuck,,this has made the decision even harder =S

    They both sound pretty awesome...

  • @Sjeedie I agree! I just ended up getting both!

  • @fluff191 Lol,,I can imagine ;D

    I think ima go for the Maxon though,,but when I finally get paid again,,I'll save some cash for the Fulltone as well. They seem to be both killer,,like your riffs are as well btw (;

  • @Sjeedie Thanks! And the Maxon never leaves my board! Good call!

  • @fluff191 Hey man,,sorry for bothering you again,,but I recently bought the Maxon and I seem to have an awful lot of noise (setup: Schecter Blackjack Avenger (SD Blackouts) - Maxon - Bugera 6262-212),,so I figured I'd need a noise gate. So my question is; are you using a noise gate and which one would you recommend? Thanks a lot (;

  • Try MXR Zakk Wylde Berzerker Overdrive if you want even more tight and focused chugging.

  • What pedal do you like most? I am trying to figure out between these two pedals and the fulldrive 2 mosfet. I have a bugera 333xl head and use passive emgs in a Schecter damien special. I basically just want more tone and attack. Basically just wanting something to push my bugera harder and get a thicker fatter tone. Any advice on what would fit me best?

  • oh and the ibanez ts-9 tube screamer which i found for $60 on craigs list.

  • @Guitarfreak365 I would go for the TS-9 for that price!! Great pedal!! I made a Maxon OD808 vs. TS-9 video and there were no differences.

  • fuck my fat bearded ass, your tone is goddamn monstrous, what emg's are you using here?

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx thanks! Using Duncan Blackouts!

  • @fluff191 they're amazing...i believe its time to switch over, all due to this vid

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx Hey thanks alot man!!!

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx those my friend are Seymour Duncan Blackouts, not EMGs. personally, i think the Blackouts crush even 18v modded EMG's for most lower tuned stuff. I do however own 2 guitars with EMG's though, but my main guitar is the one with the Blackouts.

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx Seymour Duncan Blackouts, which are far better than the regular EMG setup.

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx I think they're blackouts

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx seymour duncan blackouts active pickups way better than emg´s

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx ....i dunno about the bridge pickup but the neck pickup is no emg at all.... i can't read the brand on the pu but i can see that its longer than 3 letters ;)

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx those are seymour duncan blackouts my friend :)

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx ducan blackouts...

  • @xxc3lld4m4gexx. Blackouts bro. Blackouts > EMGs.

  • It's awesome you did this because I've been debating between the two hahaha.

  • Could you make a a video on how you recorded the guitar?

  • @chickenluva1 I did a Recording 101 video. It's new newest video on my channel.

  • whats your favorite, and why?

  • @ChristianLanas The Maxon. It has a tighter feel.

  • Great comparison. What version OCD are you using?

  • @ElectricTurkey1 Version 4.

  • So here's my question about ezdrummer, I want to use it just to jam to...I want to set up a certain rhythm, connect my laptop to a speaker and just have ezdrummer play rhythms while I try out different riffs over them. Is that possible to do that? I am not looking for great tone from it, I just want to use it as a practice tool. Thanks for your time.

  • @timborocksloud Yeah that what I do when I am writing. You could either make a MIDI hit pattern in your DAW, of get the free stand alone Toontrack Solo and just set one of the built in grooves to repeat. Hope that helps!

  • Man, what a great and useful demo...

    2 questions

    1) what did you use for your drum track?

    2) Any chance you could do the same demo on a Stiletto Deuce Stage 2?

I bought both heads and am trying to decide which one to keep...the only thing keeping me from returning the Recto is the channel 3 Modern setting I just love it and wonder if I could use an overdrive pedal to do the same thing on the gain channel of the stiletto.

  • @timborocksloud Drums are EZDrummer. And If you used a boost with the Stiletto, you can absolutley get into high gain territory. FWIW, I used to own a 3 Channel Recto and ended up getting rid of it.

  • Dude! Having watched this it looks like we need to not only have a beer together but jam together! Great playing mate!! ; )

  • @06KingDave Thanks man! We do indeed need to jam!

  • THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING ROCK ON!!!!!!

  • that was some nasty riffs good sound

  • dude this sounds fucking BROOOOTAL

  • @syoun14 Thanks!

  • nice tone dude.

  • WHAT GUITAR STRING DO YOU USE ?

    POWERFUL SOUND.

  • @neo69hk Thanks! I use 11-56 in Drop C.

  • Nice playing.

    Cool tones :p

  • It's close but It appears that the Maxon sits a tad better with the voicing of the 2 ch rectos, sounds a little bit more raunchy to the ears, probably the mid boost. Great shootout!

  • It seems very subtle, but I think the Maxon takes it. This is a very good comparison. I use to own an OCD, but I could never get it to sound right to my ears.

  • @staytrue0407 I am still torn. I really like the OCD but the Maxon gives a SLIGHT midrange bump that sounds nice.
