Eastwood made the Bird movie and has featured many black actors and artisans in his films' cast and crew. (Morgan Freeman almost stole Unforgiven for christ's sakes.) Clint is not a racist. Spike Lee is right to be concerned about the (real and still existing) racism in America and its movies but he picked a wrong target. And the historical facts back Eastwood on this. I like Spike Lee's movies but he does seem to have a major chip on his shoulder. Racism is a more serious issue than most non-minorities care to admit, but sometimes Lee's comments seem a little overboard. It's unfortunate that sometimes he only seems to be undermining any real consensus among races.

Maybe Clint didn't do his homework as well as he should (and I'm not sure Spike did either though clearly Black Soldiers did plenty in WWII). But why raise this petty stuff really. It just seems counterproductive. I don't think Clint meant anything wrong by it (and it's probably not all historically accurate anyway), but come on man.
