He went up the highest a human can go. Notice how he has a wider grip, a wider grip does focus more on the lats, and due to the human bones-joints structure you can't go up as high as a narrow grip pull-up.
He's not using the wrist straps because his wrists are weak. Because his lats have become so strong by working them out they have actually become stronger than his forearms (grip strength) so if he wasn't to use wrist straps his forearms would fail before his lats and he would have to let go of the bar, therefore not working his lats probably. Have some common sense before making such comments.
I was referring to functional strength, which excludes aids like wrist straps. He is weak in this area. I've experienced this myself before.
Also, I never said he was using wrist straps because he has weak wrists! Secondly, his lats are WEAK, if he can't even do 10+ form pullups. Most bodybuilders are very weak at high rep functional strength exercises. This is what I was pointing out, along with bodybuilding being aligned with the vain. Read posts throughly before attempted smart ass rebuttal.
I'm not sure what you mean because he is not weak in any area. It's just that his lats have become stronger than his forearms. His forearms haven't become weaker. And where does he say he did less than 10 reps? I believe what he said was that he wanted to show only the last 3 or so reps of the set. He could have done 50 for all we know. Looks as though someone else should "Read posts throughly before attempted smart ass rebuttal"
If you think this is strong, then that's laughable. This is bodybuilding which is all about building muscle, not strength. There is a HUGE difference. He pumps out only 2 good form reps with wrist straps. Doesn't matter how fatigued you are, if you can't do 10+ at any time, you are weak fullstop.
I don't think you're getting the idea. He could have done 50 reps in this 1 set for all we know but he has only shown us the last 3 reps of his set. He probably hasn't done 50 reps but i'm trying to make the point that no matter how many he has done, he has cut the video and only shown us the last few reps. Of course he's struggling on the last one - that could be the 50th rep of his set. I agree that there is a difference between strength training and body building.
Good video's. Pull ups are a very important and really really good exercise that almost every guy that wants to get and nice body, doesn't do.. There is one really important and really good home exercise that you left out.. and that is "Dips" with 2 chairs or anything else you can use to do them on. ;-)
I wanted to keep the clip short and just show about 3 reps. The main thing I wanted to illustrate is that even when you are doing the last rep, smooth and slow is the rule. Many people start doing jerky, flappy, kicky things the last reps and that is just plain dangerous.

Good form, but wrist straps? Bodybuilding can actually make you weak in functional strength. But at least you look good in the mirror right?
