Don't take easy access to guns for granted, here in Australia it was common for most households to have a gun behind the kitchen door, there was no licencing or registration. The only thing restricted was full autos. The government brought in licencing of people then registration of each gun, then it confiscated all the semi autos and declared self defence as no reason to own a gun. In a matter of weeks we went from a feely armed country to having to ask permission to buy an air rifle.

I'm for peaceful gun owners, not the ones who use guns to blow people's heads off, just because they can buy a shot gun or a gun and lose their temper on somebody for taking away their crack sales, or whatever else. The biggest thing high levels of gun ownership effects is crime patterns. In areas with strict gun control criminals are more likely to victimize a stranger. They are safe in assuming that person can't defend themselves. That is why index crime is so high in the UK & Australia. There is no place gun laws have actually lowered murder rates. Fewer are killed by guns but other methods goes up. I am a woman, if guns are banned my chance of being a victim of violence over doubles. I dont like that.

It might change a pattern but not reduce crime. If you truly manage to remove guns from an area criminals simply target women,elderly or anyone weaker than themselves. We already do limit the number of guns in society by deciding who can and cannot buy a gun. That never stops the bad guys from finding ways to get the guns they want. Great video! If someone had told me 8 years ago that I would learn to use a gun (NRA classes) and buy one, I would have thought them crazy. Yet, as a 57-yr-old widow, living alone, that is what I have done. I go to target practice with a bunch of gals every month, but I would only use the gun for self-defense if someone broke into my home. My old dog shouldn't have to defend me. Back in ancient europe, MEN fought in wars. Men fought because they were stronger and they stand a better chance against other men. If Im not mistaken, women are OFTEN raped by stronger (bigger) men. Guns are the great equalizer. A person who shoots well has the last say. If a woman carries a gun, she can prevent being raped by having the upper hand. Its not just restricted to women though.

Restricting guns would be like bring back prohibition. Crime will soar!

Guns do not kill people....people kill people with the irresponsible ways they choose to use the tools provided to them. Call a gun ban? Take my guns? I'll be damned if I willingly turn in my only protection from another individual or a group of people who feel that it is OK to kill me simply for my personal possessions or to gain control over me and my loved ones out of tyranny.
