to be honest, this robot is useless without legs. cause this is a human world designed by us according to our body, arms, legs, etc. human beings dont have wheels. so would be hard for a robot to function in a world designed for humans.
Indeed your a dumbass. how would a robot with wheels go up stair? or guide itself through a rough turrain? what you are talking about is a completely different idea, try to stay on topic.
It's an assumption to say that this was built for places with stairs. Most places these days have ramps for people with wheel chairs anyway. Rough terrain is clearly not what this is designed for so you can shove that up your arse.
It's not a different idea, you're just a cynical moron.
well u go ahead and buy a robot witth wheels. ill buy the one with legs, we'll see who is right. of course i will be, because im smarter and i know what im talking about. u on the other hand, is just some stupid shmuk that doesnt know anything about robots. im the engineer students, so i would know better.
You're clearly so infatuated with yourself that you think you know what i'll say before I say it.
I never said robots with wheels were better than robots with legs. However look at it from any practical viewpoint - wheels take less power to operate, they are way easier to design, they are way faster in most circumstances...
Legs would be better if we could make them properly but I've yet to see a single robot with two legs (although 4 legged robots work okay, they're still slow) thats stable
robots with wheels r better at the moment cuz robots with legs r still primitive. i agree that robots with wheels r good for maybe something that lives in an apartment but if u live in a house with staircase, u would probably prefer a robot with legs. besides, humanoids r humanoids cuz they resemble man kind. if they got legs then they resemble us better, and suit our likings better. the technology of walking robots r gonna evolve anyway so i go with the ones with legs. theyre more fascinating.
and plus, look at honda for instance, why are they building a robot with legs and not wheels? go on their site and look it up. if wheels are better, why not build wheels? ya thats what i thought, speechless huh? i dont see any intelligent robots with wheels, lol, all of the movies that were made had robtos with wheels, cause directors dont want to look like retards like u.
Honda are building a robot with legs so as to impress simpletons like yourself. Find me an industrial robot (or any machine) that operates on two legs and maybe i'll concede the point.
I don't see any intelligent robots with legs either, dumbass.
just give it another ten or so years, and i bet you we will see a robot that has arms, legs, feet, etc. then you will be like OH SHIT! you will pick the robot with the legs over the robot with the wheels. once robots become as efficient as humans or better, wheels will become obscilite. just wait a decade, and i bet ya that something awesome will be created.
I don't disagree, I fully expect within a decade or two bipedal robots will take off. For the moment however one must face realities, and that is that they aren't all that good at staying upright let alone going over rough terrain, at least not yet. With that in mind, it makes sense for this robot to have wheels. It was clearly designed for indoors flat surface activities in any case.
I agree, in ten years that may well be the case. But if you're building something right now, with current technology, legs are unstable and wonky as fuck.
It is true that legs are also needed to be developed but it is a different chapter. The Japanese have the state of the art robot leg (walking) technology at the moment while german robotics is ahead in arm/hand technology.
This robot is of course mainly shining through his arms. His arm technology was developed by the DLR to be used in space to assist astronauts doing repairs.
the robot asimo is worked on by japanese engineers and german engineers. actually i think asimo is worked on by many nations, but i know for a fact that german and japanese are working together to build asimo. right now, they are currently working on asimo 3.0. 2.0 is the new asimo, but the 3.0 will be even better with a close to artificial intelligence, but not quite A.I. I cant wait for the future!
no one wants to work with america casue their all stupid, they dont know anything, lol. but come now, japan and germany are very peaceful countries now, ww2 was a hella long time ago. plus, i think germany and japan's intentions are good, and americas would be for evil.
i saw on an other movie here on youtube that the cost of the system is about 400 000€ (without any research costs). But probably not for sale very soon.
I think the "right arm zero torque" at 1:05 would be a great and funny way to teach robot how to make pancakes and stuff

Indeed, because wheels are so outlandish. We don't use them at all.

You know, I've seen wheelchairs advertised that can go up stairs. They use basically the same technology that the Segway uses for balance.
