@segenist it's a bit one sided i agree. but the point remains, the entire western world's obsession of keynesian economic policy of government intervention has been a massive failure. Taxes are supposed to redistribute wealth, instead wealth is taken from the people to benefit mostly special interest groups. The US now has the highest corporate tax rate in the world which hasn't improved tax revenue, as most companies either relocate or go offshore (Google is headquartered in Ireland)
Cutting taxes isn't only good. You must control your spending too. Look at all those so countries with flat taxes..most of them are BUST. why? They were over spending like crazy.
There are som good points here. But the idea that Britain would be buzzing with maufacturing industry is hard to belive when good still can be manufactured mucg cheaper in low wage countries. How can we possibly compete with chinise worker wages?
@dma777able simple...specialization...or re-specialization. Britain must find something that it can either, produce or allocate cheaper and faster than it's neighbors and focus on developing in that field. basically do what japan does. japan doesn't grow 40% of it's own food but it stays fed.it gets most of it's resources abroad. how? trade and specialization. they mostly sell electronics, machines, engineering and intellectual property. the skill of the labor makes up for the scarce resources.
@Ravengaurd6 Finding a job would be no problem. Britain has massive potential, its people are (for the most part) smart, innovative, and clever. You have so many industries that are somehow STILL surviving even with the state parasite...imagine Jaguar or Land Rover being booming BRITISH industries thanks to a competitive business environment instead of being owned by tata fucking motors? Britain's former colony now owns it...if I were a brit I would be infuriated.
Yes & no. Of course less govt interference & moneygrabbing will help, but some of it is very useful esp in health. The Germans pay 16% of their gross income for health (ie before tax), and that is rising with much unhappiness and often poor quality and VERY high cost of medicines. The NHS is fine, except it has been mismanaged. Could be remedied if decent managers (eg managerially trained clinicians) were in place & admin costs fixed at a reduced level. German health admin costs r huge!

what this programme is advocating: reducing taxes in the hope of increasing tax revenue (this is called supply side economics) was also tested by the Reagan administration. It failed. I think HK is not analogous with the US or the UK and therefore it's not necessarily the case that supply side economics would work in the UK (reducing taxes to increase tax revenue). And another thing - Sweden and Denmark do pretty well with high taxation.
We relocated our business to New Zealand from the UK as the state pressure was unbearable. Not just taxes but interfering officials - VAT, heath & safety, Fire regulations, trading standards, Rates, etc. all of whom found no problems but caused us endless grief and wasted time. Also we were sick of supporting people who were pretending to be ill and claiming benefits including brand new cars. Out of 40 car spaces near my home 13 were designated for cripples. I'm happy now though.
government always grow. honk-kong does that as well. search for honk-kong public debt. it has grown in the last years as well. we cannot have governments. in principle - they are immoral, and grow. they cannot be controlled - history shows us that again and again. if anybody is interested in how we can run our lives without government search for the book Practical Anarchy. And please, don't be scared by the word anarchy. I am against brick throwing riots and molotow cocktails and war as well :).
In fact, Hong Kong's debt is not at all debt. Hong Kong government issue bonds for small families to earn interests instead of putting the savings in banks and earn nothing. Hong Kong government has USD 200 billion foreign reserves, and another USD 200 billion reserved money in the treasury. Instead of spending the money on the public sector, this year the Hong Kong government give USD 800 to every Hong Kong citizen simply because there are too much money in the treasury.
David Cameron thinks nothing..he is just a front man, the people behing him tell him what to say and do. He would have stopped the wars which are war crimes and are costing us lives and money but he is told to do nothing and his does nothing, the greatest cost to us is the EU...we must get out but Cameron has no idea so makes a perfict leader.
@jenleex He probably thinks exactly this, but there's no way he could enact it because he'd have every jumped-up trade unionist, student, public sector worker and every other person with a vested interest trying to kill him. So the perpetual cycle of decline continues.
According to the IMF the greatest GDP per capita in the world has Luxembourg where taxes are high. The 3rd larges GDP per capita has Norway where again taxes are very high. This program is a TORY and NEO CON propaganda!
