Haha so weird. I clicked on this video by mistake, having never heard of The Chatterley Affair, and it happens to be about the book I am currently reading! :o)
Anyone know what year this came out in? Because there is a Chatterly Affair movie on Netflix but it dosen't say whether David is in it or not. Can anyone tell me the names of some of the other cast members?
Doctor Hogart has become my hero for the day! Lady Chatterley's lover is a very puritanical book, and most and/or all of the love scenes between the game keeper and Connie are tender. Favoriting this clip!
For some reason David Tennant seems to be cast relatively often as a teacher or a lecturer. I would love to have this character as a lecturer... he seems to have a broader understanding of the world that is much missing in academia today, which I sorely miss.
I love this clip! brilliant stuff... and who am I kidding, I could go on for ages about how greatly David underplayed this part, how fabulous he is, which is all true.. but let's be honest : David and "fu*!" in such close quarters makes me go all sqee-ish and fangirl.
It's a Northern English accent- a fairly mild Yorkshire one. The working class background from Leeds gone quite posh from being a university lecturer. The Doctor's accent is Estuary English.
And only three accents in America? Not in the slightest. There are all sorts of variants of the Southern and Eastern you mentioned, not to mention all sorts of regional accents in the Midwest, etc etc. With a country as large as the US, it would be strange if there were only three accents to speak of.
agreed. I lived in Leeds most of me life, now 20 mins away. It's not quite Leeds accent, A bit too posh i reckon, but then again the man's a university lecturer of English he's bound to be posh. Loving his attempt though
I could listen to David all day.

What is his accent supposed to be? It is not quite the Doctor and not David Tennant. By the way, what kind of accent does the Doctor have?
In America I would say we only have three basic accents.. Southern, Eastern and the one used by the rest of America and most of Hollywood.

I would say it's a London accent.

On Tennant? Definitely not. It's a fairly mild Yorkshire accent- as the character says, he's from Leeds.
