  • Frank Barone would be proud

  • Que HERMOSA canción!!! QUÉ HERMOSA VOZ !!! Por siempre serás una de mis preferidas . MARAVILLOSA DORIS .Hurra x la trompeta.

  • Those complaining about Harry James playing on this song need to see the movie.

It is a reason for the sound. Great Movie, worth seeing if you have not done so. If you watch it, you will know why it was played as it is on this video. Thank You!

  • que buena cancion!!!!!!!

  • Harr Jame was a master of the trumpet. His phrasing was so effortless and smooth.

  • I agree with the comment about the Harry James band. It is too loud and brash for this beautiful voice. It takes away from the sensitivity of the song. Doris Day wadeserved better.

  • We all loved those 60's movies she made with various "hunks"........we all wore white terry cloth bath robes so we could be like her!!

  • I love you Mommy this song is for you Mommy ,I love you I love you Mommy .Am always here to oray for you now that trun to 86 years old I thank Jehovah God Almighty that you are still there stronge & healthy Thanks Jehovah God .I love you so much Mommy my dearest Mom .With all my love ,Smagisa

  • Classy song from a classy lady

  • @gunnerterry i've seen this comment a hundred times and its pissing me off. thumb down.

  • The band is out of kilter with the singing. The singing is beautifully sung and sensitive but the band is load and brash.

  • I have no complaints whatsover about Harry James' big band's arrangements behind her.....I never notice anything wrong about it and I've listened to it for many years many times...

  • @hohaia01 Ha, I'm inclined to agree with you here.. I love Harry James, could listen to his wonderful technique forever - but (I think) you're absolutely right; Doris Day performs this almost as a ballad and the arrangement should compliment the vocalist. Must remember, this isn't the 1920s or '30s when the vocalist slotted-in to what the band played, it's a Doris Day song - not a band arrangement, and Mr. James could've backed-off a tad.

Came searching for the Ella version; can't find it..

  • The best voice in american music. In my opinion.

  • This is of the best music in history. Backed up by the great band sound of Harry James and his Orchestra, Doris sings this with great clarity of phrasing and perfect pitch, without overdoing the enunciation, and it comes off just right. I've gone back to listening to these wonderful songs by such talented greats as Doris Day. Thanks for posting this.

  • so pretty!!

  • Always at her very best. The soundtrack from the 1952 movie with the same title....which starred Susan Hayward.

  • it's a great song by a great singer............thanks !

  • What a truly beautiful voice. Way before my time, but classic beauty is classic beauty.

  • I just love her so much!

  • She brings tears to my eyes...what a song, a truly divine singer with heart & soul beyond measure, her faith is enormous and her innner /outer beauty beyond compare...the irreplaceable LADY DORIS DAY!! She's alive at age eighty-something...and many more birthdays to come ...just hearing her and seeing these vidoes give me such joy and courage to go on...

  • I have a song in my heart for Doris, irreplaceable Doris!

  • Love the trumpet & song, sung beautifully by Doris.

  • θα ζω έτσι....

  • I love Doris, I love trumpet and i love this song, this is a beatifull son !!!

  • she was lovely!!

  • There are moments when Doris is singing that are so clear and still delicate, like it's hanging on a string - unique and beautiful, it's taken me a long time to appreciate her particular talent.

  • @ichigatsujohn Not me....I've loved her for years. What a shame that she just retreated from humanity and spent the last few decades with her dogs......like Marilyn Monroe, a very wounded soul I think.

  • @shneevels I think it's when I was watching 'Calamity Jane' and I was just stunned that she could move from a loud, brassy number to something so sweet and tender... now I feel that she's very close to me. I'm sad, also, that she's retreated - perhaps we'll never know why, but I'm happy that she has left so much music to enjoy.

  • @shneevels You are right, it is a shame that she retreated from performing... I'm sure she probably had many reasons. I'm just glad to have so many films and recordings to enjoy.

  • u6trutututuuu tu6t7777777777777777

  • Sure sounds like Harry James on trumpet.

  • Yes. Harry James. Was from a movie--"MAN WITH A HORN" A must if you like Doris Day and or Harry James. Wonderful music. Embraceable you. Get Happy, and many others.

  • My error: Songs: Too Marveouls for Words, I only have Eyes For you; I may be Wrong; The Very Thought of You, Melancholy Baby, Get Happy; Lullaby of Broadway, Pretty Baby and others. Based on life of Bix Biderbeck (spelling?)

  • Beiderbecke

  • doris day i love you

  • Are you sure Calicomuc ? This would be the best news I could ever think of, but ,,, I too have heard, that unfortunately she was dead ! I knew she was in Carmel some years back ... I have always been enchainted by Doris. Like Clint Eastwood said " Doris you made my day!"

  • Yes, Doris Day is most definitely still alive and is living in Carmel, CA, running her animal foundation.

  • My sister Maryann who just died on 9/11/09 use to sing this song to me, so beautiful, but sad!

  • I always loved the way you could hear her voice crystal clear on her records compared to so many others where the singer is obscured by the instruments. I love to hear how she hit all her notes so cleanly. It only took her two takes to record Que Sera, Sera. So glad God gave us the gift of experiencing her talent.

  • doris I loveyou

  • martha stewart resembles her

  • rip

  • Rip? Whom?

  • rip???? she´s still alive, lives in Carmel an is now 85 years old...

  • GOD! I LOVE HER!!!

  • This is a pretty song. My favorite version is Julie Andrews and Perry Como singing it on Sesame Street, they sound so lovely together. Doris Day does a great job too though!

  • Superb arrangement, it sounds like Harry James trumpet style. What a treat.

  • It is Harry James. He dubbed Kirk Douglas in the movie Young Man Whit A Horn. Doris Day and Harry James recorded the album after the film.

    P

  • Loved to watch her movies when I was young :-)

  • Yeah right LOL

  • I played this on saxophone for my grade 8 jazz exam I love it!

  • Great song, wish I could send it to my lil girlfriend, but I don't think she is of a generation to appreciate it.

  • I'm 15 and I just love Doris Day!

  • Kudos, darlin'. You've got real class. This music is timeless. I'm 58 and I was ahead of my time, too.

  • This is the version from the movie "Young Man With a Horn" that starred Kirk Douglas, Doris Day, and Hoagy Carmichael... trumpet work is Harry James. Movie was a fictionalized account of Bix Biederbeck's life.... but is was a good film to watch.

  • I first discovered this precious lilting voice of Doris back when I was a 14 year old teen ager and idolized her from then on. She and Perry Como are my all time favorites. Both are the best in every way.

  • Beautiful.

I know I was born in the wrong time era. <3

  • same here

  • agreeed

  • An American Treasure. Such a lovely voice and air.

  • her voice is so sweet, touching, with a special tenderness where the words become meaningful and real...

    She is my favorite...

  • I am 18 and loving thing this. I wish I was born back there... So much beauty, class and elegance...

  • Why Columbia records never paired Doris Day and Tony Bennett is incredible. They would have been great together! Both are icons, as is!

  • I have often wondered this! Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone! There is a video clip on You Tube of Doris and Tony singing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" on her television series. Hunt it up!

  • luminous voice! great doris day, one of the most important pop singers ever!

  • How can you not love her!

  • What a sweet dear lady. Her talent of song, comedy, acting and being a true class act. I love her.

  • Deliziosa e brava come sempre Doris Day. Splendida la canzone. Qualcuno sa dirmi in quale film (che ho visto da bambina ma non ricordo bene) è suonata con la tromba? Forse c'era Van Johnson.

  • Deliziosa e brava Doris Day e splendida la canzone. Qualcuno sa dirmi qual è il film in cui essa viene suonata con la tromba (forse il protagonista è Van Johnson)?

  • what kind of music sangs doris day???

    can someone tell me please??

    thnx

    .n_n.

  • Doris sang songs that were usually included in her films...theatrical musicals, popular, or easy listening...today they can be found on stations that play "Oldies". (As I listen to) They were hits of the 50's....I hope I answered your question! ~ Catalina

  • Doris sang the music of "Tin Pan Alley," the mythical home of American songwriters before rock and roll: Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Richard Rodgers with Lorenz Hart or Oscar Hammerstein II, Johnny Mercer, Gus Kahn, Harold Arlen and many others of lesser fame. These songs were written for Broadway and Hollywood as well as just for their own sake. IMHO, Doris is the single greatest interpreter of the songs of Tin Pan Alley...better than Sinatra, better than Fitzgerald.

  • Simply beautiful. Thank you for posting!

  • Lovely, romantic song...with a very nice video collage.

    Thank you for posting.

  • The immortal Harry James. From the film Toung Man of Music, starring DD and Kirk Douglas! I still have the '78'!

  • The immortal Harry James. From the film Young Man of Music.

  • I love that sweet jazzy voice. It's amazing.

And it's a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics.

  • This is pure bliss. IM-not so-HO, this is her finest studio moment, and no small kudos on the assist, either, should be given to Harry James (trumpet) and his band playing behind her - it's his record as much as hers.

Late (MAJOR!) Philadelphia radio personality Joe Niagra was a personal friend of hers, and played this one a lot - how I became familiar with it.

  • Wonderful voice, miss her not performing.

  • great to see and hear this icon of great music , great lyrics....symbols of a sweeter, nicer world and less grim people. Quality.

  • Esta canción es de la película "Young man with a horn". Doris Day hace una magnífica interpretación, contando con la trompeta de Harry James, el mejor trompetista de su tiempo.

  • Who said that this Gonden Voice doesn't know to sing?

Since my childhood I love her. Listen: Bewitched, Teacher´s Pet, Que sera, sera...

  • I love this lady, I grew up with her music and love her voice. She's the best.

  • Pure Cream From The Milky. Mesmerizing & Magical! As You See; Superlatives Are Poor Words 2 Describe The Uniqueness Of Doris Day! As Always Her Beautiful Vocal Transforms Lyrics Magically Into The Sweetest Sound. Doris Day Is Indeed A Music Magus And Her Work Is A Journey Into The Sound & Art de Lux. I'm Forever In Awe.
