  • The day after 9/11 was when I first heard this song and I thought it was the perfect song for New York at that time.

  • this song is too damn good

  • OHHH LOU!!!

  • what a brilliant song of life, leaves u speachless, love it , xx

  • Reed is out of this fucking world

  • You ever been ripped off by some '2-bit friends'?

  • love the electric guitar in this

  • This could easily be mistaken Dire Straits song. The guitar sounds so much like Mark Knopfler, it's incredible! Even the vocals sound like him at some moments!

  • @MagiKpeople only difference being Dire Straits were rubbish

  • @davidgrahamscott Dire Straits were amazing. If you think they're rubbish, then you probably haven't really given them a try. Either that or it's your musical tastes that are rubbish. Mark Knopfler is an amazing guitarist. Telegraph Road ranks among my top 10 favorite songs of all time.

  • @MagiKpeople Talented maybe but an almost polar opposite to Lou Reed. I did listen to them but hated that twangy guitar style.

  • @davidgrahamscott That's fine! You don't have to like them either, everyone's got different opinions! :)

  • I always considered this to be Lou's best song to date.

  • "when youre all alone and lonely in your midnight hour " ;))

  • @stiggyh been there man..been there

  • But remember the Princess who lived on the hill - who loved ya even though she knew you was wrong.

  • I love this song so so much.

  • Most likely the essential Lou Reed song. From his own words, "If you want to know about me listen to Coney Island Baby. That's a paraphrase from a BIO I have. Of course Lou in his inmittable(is that a word?) style would deny saying that. Dear Lou would Laurie and You come to Denver? Pleeeeeeeese!

  • mix .17 meow and .28 ket. u will be there

  • Wonderful!

  • Why does this dood sound like a sultan of swing?

  • the fags didn,t make it to coney island, they were in other gangs trying to stop them.go warriors .

  • Perfect.

  • thank lou!!!!!! with this song i can see the lights, the life, the persons, the dark soul of New York. Glory at you Lou

  • Midnight, stale smell of cigarettes fill the musty air, combined with industrial made light through the windows fill your room. You look out the window to see nothing but a fake lit world. Knowing outside is no place for you.

  • A great song by one of the best Rock songwriters ever. I bought this record when it came out and I still love it today. Most of Lou Reed's well-known songs are about characters he created, like a novelist. Here he's definitely singing about himself, his soul laid bare. Thank you so much for posting this

  • i can wrap my foreskin over my hand

  • beautiful song, the girl rachel he loves is a transvestite, strangely touching.

  • I love this song but don't why. I love when that happens.

  • MASTERPEICE!

  • ahhh, fucking crappy high school years.

This is top of lou's best

  • I think of me in my future thinking of my past when I hear this.

  • This is great...I always think of some poor burnt-out junkie sitting in his lonely apartment thinking back on his life. Hell..that could be me!

  • ah shoot didn't realize someone else said it already

  • @davidgrahamscott Hell, that IS me, hahahaha!

  • @Circumpunk ha...good on you!!

  • @davidgrahamscott Yeah mate, sing about football and old flames and I am hooked. Can't wait for the next American football season to start in late August. I've never given L. Reed a lot of time, your upload is causing me to rethink it.

  • @Circumpunk Good stuff!! Always nice to have a rethink!! You take care, my friend!!

  • @Circumpunk --"Vicious" still sounds fresh and dangerous. Check it out if you haven't heard it ... Great pre-punk rock ' n' roll ...

  • @davidgrahamscott True-It IS the STRONG who escape that living Hell-AddictionFree-never wantn to go back there-After a while You 4get the shite times-& remember only the 'good times' on it-&'s why pple 'slip'

Triggers can bring on memories of it-& make you battle yourself to NOT go- All the shite Addiction IS-gets 4got

Heroin isnt worth it-Wierd how memories-overtime-seem to be all the GOOD things you did-& all the Crap that went with it-4got

    Not clever-Addiction=No Life beyond 'IT'=TRAPPED:(

  • The princess who lived on the hill,

who loved ya, even though she knew you was wrong......the glory of love....

    great

  • bullrun what do you mean by understated?

  • This song gets me everytime.

  • I kike it also!

  • yeah you're right but by then he must have been the most anti-kike kike in the whole "woild"...

  • @Cokelike

    AMEN

  • Beautiful song...understated yet powerful, with a great guitar hook running through it. Overtones of Mark Knopfler on the guitar....quiet but powerful.

  • This song brings such a melancholy to me! And I absolutely adore it!

  • Absolutely amazing song...!!!!

  • Hey! Thanks for this song! Great putting the lyrics also!

he can't sing very high or anything but he can make us cry or... play another song with his voice

  • Gorgeous song, I've always loved this.

  • Lou Reeds trötta pratsång... 5 av 5.

  • This is a great supplement to the live version on here. That's a better performance, but having the lyrics here is awesome!

  • Yea man, I was 18 and my Mom was cool enough to let me and some buds take her car and go see Lou at the Bottom Line in NYC. Christmas night 1978 Midnight Show. The glory of love might see you through.

  • yeeeeesss, i remember when i was 15 years old... the first time me and my best friend heard this song... alone at night... with some liquer and some green from switzerland... unbelievable beautiful... no time... no truth... no lie... just beauty... a lie that we were living... the only lie we were able to love like the truth we'll never would get access to... whatever.

Something like a circus or a sewer. How true Lou!

  • "Lou Reeds trötta pratsång" 5/5

  • Cette chanson est simplement parfaite, plus je l'écoute et plus je l'aime.

  • you can play on my team anyday, Lou

  • goose bumps everywhere..

  • but no hair anymore ;-)

  • BETTER THAN THAT HIP HOP SHIT

  • Every line of this song just resonates with me!

  • Same here! Love it!

  • Un été, au bord de la piscine, Lou Reed flirted with my man (qui était jeune et si beau!), drinking a bloody-mary. Parmi tous les albums, he signed Coney Island baby. What a memory!

  • quelle merveille !!!! :-)))) beaux souvenirs

  • Vraiment/je sais qu'il aime parfois les hommes....

  • this song means so much to me here in my life in New York City. I'm all alone and loney and my soul is up for sale. I'm thinking about the things that I done here and I really really am beginning to hate just about everything. I miss my Princess on the Hill. God I do.

  • You're absolutely right. I too I'm a lonely guy and sometimes New York can bring the worst out of you and the best.

  • @doctorluv you fags need to get a grip

  • I'm from England and actually took a daytrip to Coney Island because of this song. A kind of homage I guess. I tried to walk from Manhattan but gave up halfway through Brooklyn and caught a subway train there instead. It was further than I thought! ... oh, and I wanted a Hotdog too.

  • me too, also, before the trade centre nightmare..

  • Let me start by saying That I really appreciate all of your comments and your views. The first time I heard this song was on a Thursday afternoon and after the first listen I was hooked.
