my dad served 3 tours in Vietnam, my brothers also served, the one born after me served in Desert Storm, Bosnia, and 3 tours in Iraq and 1 tour in Afganistan, my youngest brother served 4 tours in Iraq. I was only able to serve in Desert Storm due to my disabilites afterward. Thank a Veteran if yousee one on the street. and any young soldier in uniform.

There is a ton of oil in the united states alone that can be reserved for the military while the regular population uses electric. A few of my neighbors use electric cars. Besides, experts in the 70s though we would have been out of oil by now. Experts now don't think it will be for another 50 years.
@MCRLOVEALWAYS Yes you do, but you transport brave men and guns in tanks or planes unless you want to slow down your war machine to a snail's pace. The point I was making that with such an ability hampered due to increasing difficulty of obtaining its lifeblood (oil) countries would not be able to wage war as they used to. It would be more difficult to transport men to distant battlefields for one.
I think this is one of the better films about the Vietnam War, second only to "Platoon." But "We Were Soldiers" is a good depiction because its one of the few Vietnam War films that show the blunders of the US campaign there. We would fight to either take or defend a position and once we won, which we always did since we never lost a major engagement, we would pull out of the area allowing the north vietnamese to retake it again. It was stupid and a waste of American lives.

It's doom was perhaps decided back in 1970 when its domestic crude oil production peaked and it was forced to increasingly use either international oil or expensive to extract oil instead. America became 50 states and grew as a nation with oil in its lifeblood, in 50 years it won't be able to afford it. Heck, I'll be surprised if the USA doesn't split in two within 25 years.

@Standuble If things get that desperate, there are plenty of alternatives to oil. And they are extremely easy to produce. There is a ton of oil in the united states alone that can be reserved for the military while the regular population uses electric. A few of my neighbors use electric cars. Besides, experts in the 70s though we would have been out of oil by now. Experts now don't think it will be for another 50 years.

The point I was making that with such an ability hampered due to increasing difficulty of obtaining its lifeblood (oil) countries would not be able to wage war as they used to. It would be more difficult to transport men to distant battlefields for one.

I think this is one of the better films about the Vietnam War, second only to "Platoon." But "We Were Soldiers" is a good depiction because its one of the few Vietnam War films that show the blunders of the US campaign there. We would fight to either take or defend a position and once we won, which we always did since we never lost a major engagement, we would pull out of the area allowing the north vietnamese to retake it again. It was stupid and a waste of American lives.
