Not about being hopeful or optimistic, it's about being realistic. That's what the plan being proposed is. Its passing would likely damage real reform efforts.
Like Senator Russ Feingold has said, we can't pass health care reform in name only. Sadly, that's what it's looking like will happen.
A mandate to purchase private insurance without a strong public option open to all Americans will be a disaster.

@sinner539 Thankfully the mandate has been shot down and not the expansion of Medicaid and now single payer is looking more realistic everyday.

It is seriously over for America, and it's really sad. We need a national health program so badly but we're not getting one. Even if Obama's plan passes it doesn't even address key issues. It could even make things worse than they already are. America is screwed.

Prepare to be disappointed if/when the dems health care 'reform' bill passes. It's not what you think it is. There won't be universal health care in the US, it will be a mandate to purchase private insurance which will only make things more expensive for everyone. All to protect and enrich private insurance.
Just look at how MA has fared under their "UHC" plan(a mandate). Their premiums have gone up since and pay the most in the country. We are fucked if it passes, fucked if it doesn't.
