This must have never been used. I had one when I was 7. I think Dad wanted it for himself. I used it "normally" for a few weeks and it was destroyed. Too many moving parts.
I went to get two of these for my little brothers for my mom, who didnt know what they wanted. Where is the helmet? You MUST have the Johnny seven OMA one man army helmet. That was a MUST.
I came upon this after seeing on the news where they are making it illegal to sell even a nerf gun illegal in Hawaii. In other words they won't even be able to sell the pansyfied toy guns of the present day there.I never owed a toy like this when I was a kid, I made do with my imagination.Tree limbs were either Tommy guns or Bazookas. This was done at school too. I'd hate to be a kid these days. They'd have me and my friends in lockup faster than you could say Ralph Nader.
why the hell now are kids toys so anti war! there what boys were suppost to play with well and trucks and cars and toy tool sets but really why so little gun toys!

Man...toy guns used to be awesome! I had one similar in the 80's. It was called The A-TEAM gun. I'm sure it was just redesigned for a different generation. I still have it.
christ its a big bugger! Would need 2 kids to carry it!
Reminds me a toy gun a school friends had. It was an electric M60 that had a working ammunition belt and could be broken down into about 4 small SMG's. Would have been about late 80's early 90's.
Toys suck these days. When I have kids of mine my own I dreadthe toys I'll have to buy them.
They dont even make toys this cool now adays, Too many liberal A-holes who think just because kids play with toy guns that we automaticly are going to be violent. This is the neatest toy ever!!! its really cool to see one that old that still works!
I clearly remember the Johnny Seven. I received it for Christmas in 1964 and, upon finding it under the tree, early in the morning, immediately commenced to open fire. From that point on, Christmas gifts were opened on Christmas Eve.
I will never forget the day that my dad bought me this toy gun from an antique toy show. He remembered having one from when he was a kid, and I fell in love with it instantly.
It was in shabby condition, and missing most of its standard ammunition, so I improvised. I used to load pens into the side-mounted launcher, which would expel them with near lethal force! Maybe not lethal, but certainly impressive.
Sorry for late reply , thanks for the link for replica ammo . I have bought it all from red . Regarding factory in Australia , not that I am aware off , most Australians have never seen or heard of the J7. I had mine as a kid in England , the 1 that I got for my birthday came via Ebay from America . I know postage is expensive , might leave the cleaning for now . Thanks for your help...cheers

hahahah I was there the day they first came out and I was glad to have it but the hippies didnt ruin anything They saved alot of lives and their girlfriends wore see through shirts I grew up in a Peace Love Dope nudist area. There was enough wool showing to knit yourself a winter sweater. I enjoyed all the different size tits ass and coochie mmmm its all good
I owned one of the Jonny Seven OMA guns I got it when it first came out. You lose things really fast in the weeds and brush but me and my brother blew the shit out of the Christmas Tree. Sinabd talks about it in his Stand up routine
At the moment I only have the 10 plastic bullets ,but I am looking for the rest of the ammo . I have found a guy in America who is willing to make reproduction ammo & ship to me here in Australia , but he won't have ammo until the endof Jan , can you recommend anyone ? To say I freaked out would be an understatement , how easy are they to pull apart & clean ? I have the technical skills of a 1 armed kangaroo , who has consumed a carton of beer !
awesome gun , I had one as a kid but it was confiscated when I shot the dog in the ass ! never saw it again ! the gun that is . Imagine my surprise when I finally was re-united with a Johnny Seven for my 49th birthday last week ! Both of my dogs are now ducking for cover & my girlfriend gets checking her ass for a target ! Best toy ever...love it to bits
Very nice! I remember the first time these appeared, and I had the Combat! Vic Morrow Thompson. Unfortunately, the Thompson only made noise. A group of us kids were out in a wooded area, and up popped the local opposition kids from down the city street. They charged at us like Indians with their Johnny Sevens, and we all ran like hell home. This would had been about 1965. I will never forget these deadly weapons :) well at least to kids. Thanks for posting the working model!
I am 49 years old and still have mine wrapped in a plastic bag in the basement of my parents. i also belonged to The Man From Uncle club and have the gun that came with including the silencer ! What can I say. I wasn't heavy handed and didn't break my toys !Oh yeah. The Mugumba rifle and M16 I have too. I could go on.
I hate people like you, newEngland-lmao-What I didn't wreck, my mom tossed out.Now I have to go on youtube and watch all the other guys play with their stuff.
Dude don't take this the wrong way but it is a great collectible, but your are too old for that. Now go out and get a real gun like me or the other half of America.
I still have mine. The grenade is missing and the folding bipod was broken during a very dangerous volunteer combat mission near the Rock River in 1964.
Thanks for viewing the vid. Topper produced many great toy guns that would be politically incorrect today. The Johnny Eagle rifles were very cool too.
I finally go to see a picture of the Mark V. There is one on ebay right now. It is missing pieces and you can sure tell it is a cheap knock off. As you said, no comparison. They are worlds apart!
I put this one together from various gun parts from junk rifles. I refurbish these and sell them. You can find them on ebay and they turn up quite often and I guess flea markets too.
Cool. I've kicked myself many times for not buying it for 25.00, it was missing two missles and the grenade but had everything else, dag nabbit!!! :( Instead I got a Remco toy bazooka that is friggin awesome, even as an adult it's cool to hold and play with! lol I wish I'd had enough for both though!
Mattel made lots of toy guns in the 50's and 60's. Their hayday seems be the late 50's into the mid 60's. Mattel and other companies began getting many protests from parents concerned about gun violence and the un-popularity of the Vietnam War caused sales of toy gun, especially military, to plummet. Mattel made many toy gun based on detectives, the military and the Wild West. Mattel pushed their "Greenie M" Stickem Caps" which produced the "pop" when shells were fired.
I agree. I don't frequent toy stores to see what they have, but they sure don't make em like they did in the sixties. My interest is in the vintage stuff.
Not exactly what that works out to in today's dollar value, but as an example, a candy bar cost you 5 cents, a coke cost a dime. $10.00 was probably around $100.00 today (I'm guessing). You can find these on ebay fairly easily, but finding them without problems is another story. A boxed Johnny Seven with all accessories will set you back anywhere from $350.00-$600.00 depending on condition, and how frenzied the bidders are.
Makes me wish I was born in the 40s/50s not the damned 90s. I swear, little toy guns (not airsoft) like cap guns are crappy for 3$. While the Tommy burst was nice at 3$. Infact, how much did the Johnny Seven cost?
Wow!..think of any obscure toy from your youth and YouTube will have it...it's kinda creepy to think that this was a "toy" from my youth...especially with 'Nam looming large on the horizon...training toy for future grunts...I'd like to think not...
I'd like to think they weren't training Jr. for war too but I do think they were grooming "Johnny" for war. At the time, "Nam" was happening and I remember playing war for hours upon end! There were many toys based on War from the endless television shows and movies dealing with WWII (WWII was only over for 20 years then)such as Combat, Rat Patrol, 12 O'Clock High, Garrison's Guerilla's, The Dirty Dozen, The Green Berets, etc.
What a trip! I had one in 64 as a Xmas present...I had HOURS of fun! One of the best toy guns ever made! This is too much! To finally be able to see it again after all these years...and someone cool enough to post it on youtube! WITH a demo!
Your Dad was right! This is one awesome toy that allowed a 10 year old backyard warrior the superior firepower a vivid imagation needed! Watch for a Johnny Seven to appear on ebay very soon. I'm on ebay under the same name as here on youtube.
epic :) my dad always goes on about how this was a real toy and u could have so much fun with it, been trying to find 1 on ebay to get him for a laugh for a while now
All I wanted when I was a kid in Oxford UK in the mid '60s was a Johnny Seven. My parents never let me have one. This probably explains how I turned out like I did!!!
This is a pretty awesome toy! So, how did you turn out? Hopefully not like the guys on your video on your profile page. This Johnny Seven, not Johnny Jihad! LOL. Take care
Fortunately I turned out okay (I think!) but I always remember how I wanted a Johnny Seven but didn't get one. Never thought I'd see a video of one on the web. Wonder if they're worth anything?
Absolutely Incredible research and work you are doing, congradulations. I had one when i was about 4-5 y.o. never forgot it. I would be interested in buying one if you're selling and willing to ship in Canada providing i pay yhe fees. please respond or tell me when you will have it on e-bay.
I like real guns too, but being a toy collector, having a Johnny Seven was a natural option. All my friends had these when I was a kid but my folks couldn't afford it. The al Qaeda terrorists would crap their pants if the Johnny Seven OMA was real. Thanks for viewing my vid.

I had the Multipistol 09 also by Topper as I recall.
In fact I still have it but as a teen I modified it extensively but you can still tell what it was.
There was a hinged door at the bottom of the gun butt that hid a small metal derringer.
In '65 Mattell jumped on the spy bandwagon and reintroduced several of their weapons modified to look like spy items.
I won't even go into the Ideal stuff I had based on "The Man From UNCLE"... Not enough space here!

I finally go to see a picture of the Mark V. There is one on ebay right now. It is missing pieces and you can sure tell it is a cheap knock off. As you said, no comparison. They are worlds apart!
dezurtdude 3 years ago
Where did you find that? I let one get by me at the Tallahassee flea market a couple of years ago damn it!
goldenagenut 3 years ago
I put this one together from various gun parts from junk rifles. I refurbish these and sell them. You can find them on ebay and they turn up quite often and I guess flea markets too.

Cool. I've kicked myself many times for not buying it for 25.00, it was missing two missles and the grenade but had everything else, dag nabbit!!! :( Instead I got a Remco toy bazooka that is friggin awesome, even as an adult it's cool to hold and play with! lol I wish I'd had enough for both though!
goldenagenut 3 years ago
You are correct! The remco bazooka is a friggin awesome toy.

I've never seen or heard of the Mark 5. Do you have any pictures of it? Thanks for viewing.

Holy crap! My dad was literally telling me about how he used to have one of these MAYBE ten minutes ago!
Toys from the 60's were the best.

Cool! Yup, toys from the 60's rule! Thanks for viewing the vid.

Sure, inflation, but you gotta admit, the 3 dollar stuff now is a big let down D:.
Doommarine23 3 years ago
I agree. I don't frequent toy stores to see what they have, but they sure don't make em like they did in the sixties. My interest is in the vintage stuff.
dezurtdude 3 years ago

Doommarine23 3 years ago
See reply above. Thanks.
dezurtdude 3 years ago
You are correct! This baby first appeared in 64 and was the best selling toy that year!
dezurtdude 3 years ago
they sale this on ebay!
gamersoldier 4 years ago
Yup, you can find these on ebay. I've sold tons of em on ebay or as some now call it "Feebay".

Wow!..think of any obscure toy from your youth and YouTube will have it...it's kinda creepy to think that this was a "toy" from my youth...especially with 'Nam looming large on the horizon...training toy for future grunts...I'd like to think not...
SolarTiger 4 years ago

Thanks for your comments. This was the best selling toy of 1964 and you can see why!

Your Dad was right! This is one awesome toy that allowed a 10 year old backyard warrior the superior firepower a vivid imagation needed! Watch for a Johnny Seven to appear on ebay very soon. I'm on ebay under the same name as here on youtube.

All I wanted when I was a kid in Oxford UK in the mid '60s was a Johnny Seven. My parents never let me have one. This probably explains how I turned out like I did!!!
GTOUGH 4 years ago
This is a pretty awesome toy! So, how did you turn out? Hopefully not like the guys on your video on your profile page. This Johnny Seven, not Johnny Jihad! LOL. Take care
dezurtdude 4 years ago
Fortunately I turned out okay (I think!) but I always remember how I wanted a Johnny Seven but didn't get one. Never thought I'd see a video of one on the web. Wonder if they're worth anything?
GTOUGH 4 years ago
Absolutely Incredible research and work you are doing, congradulations. I had one when i was about 4-5 y.o. never forgot it. I would be interested in buying one if you're selling and willing to ship in Canada providing i pay yhe fees. please respond or tell me when you will have it on e-bay.

How did you turn out collecting guns like me.I dont coolect old guns ,but firepower is what I like.If the johnny seven was real,id have one.LOL
zeno57 4 years ago
I like real guns too, but being a toy collector, having a Johnny Seven was a natural option. All my friends had these when I was a kid but my folks couldn't afford it. The al Qaeda terrorists would crap their pants if the Johnny Seven OMA was real. Thanks for viewing my vid.
