  • Thanks Steve. I found it really useful to build the CAD model as I progressed the real model so that I could produce 2D drawings of each part with dimensions referenced to an appropriate datum.

Good luck with the build. John

  • Started building this (must be mad...) this animation has really helped me visualise the thing. Many thanks.

  • I've modelled the carburettor barrels in Rhino and machined them in metal (as with the whole engine). The barrels are fairly simple cross drilled mild steel cylinders as usual in model aircraft IC engine practice. They are shown in the original article published in Model Engineer, 17 May 1996 page 595 and described on page 594.

I'm sorry that the video doesn't show them in detail.

  • Hi, ive been modeling this engine in Blender. Although I cant figure out how the inserts for the throttle bodies are formed. Did you model them?

  • Have you a CAD file of this motor?

  • I do have the CAD file for this engine. It's in RHINO3D .3dm format and takes about 56MB

  • can you send it on my emal??

  • I don't have your e-mail address!

  • The Whittle V8 is an excellent design, however I'm quite keen to develop a better cooling system. Air cooling is ok for when mounted on an airframe... but not so great on a display/testing rig. -DE

  • Eric Whittle is my name...

  • @ealexwhite

Possible but highly improbable. Don't expect anyone to listen.
