I think I must have been mistaken. Becuz @ exactly 1:11 of ur vid u said that rnr is a subgenre of jazz created by white musicians (off the wall untruth btw). U didn't say that rnr was a direct descendant of blues like u r sayin now.
Ur right white musicians have twisted rnr in their own way through punk rock and metal and it has become the official anthem of White people. And when White people are attached to something they have a tendency to want to "own" it and say they created it.
Let's not be ambiguous about its origins. It is inherently black.
This is one of Black America's few but most powerful and widespread legacies and it deserves to be defended vehemently.
To be honest, I did not remember what I said exactly in the video. If I said "blues", I meant "jazz", which came out of the blues regardless.
And what I said remains true. Why people did adopt rock and roll as a way to differentiate themselves from jazz, and they did contribute a lot to the field.
It's not a matter of who started what, it's also a matter of who contributed to what.
But it can't be disputed that the root of American music lies in the original black musicians that invented it.
"rock and roll did not derive from white musicians, that its roots came out of blues, which is decidedly black." Roots aside, the rock and roll sound itself was invented by "black" musicians during '47-'49, including Paul Bascomb ("Rock And Roll"), Bill Moore ("We're Gonna Rock," "Rocking With Leroy," "Rock And Roll"), Wynonie Harris ("Good Rockin' Tonight"), & Jimmy Preston ("Rock The Joint"). "Rock The Joint" was in the rock and roll style, period. Bill Haley took interest in the style in '50.

I think I pretty clearly state that rock and roll did not derive from white musicians, that its roots came out of blues, which is decidedly black.
However, it is absolutely true that while black musicians invented rock and roll, white musicians took it and proliferated it in their own way.
