YF-17 lost the USAF Light Weight Fighter (LWF) competition to the YF-16 (which went into production as the F-16). YF-17 was then redesign for the US Navy and became the F-18 Hornet. >>> The YF-23 lost out to the YF-22 (in production as the F-22) competing for the USAF Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) program. >>> No buyers for the F-20 Tigershark - program cancelled.
