Best video I have found showing the castle, thank you so much!!!
Check out my Facebook page for lots of information and links regards the McNeal (lots of spellings) clan and Kisimul Castl. on FB search IndianRiverMan or Tod McNeal since YouTube will not allow me to post the link...
@robertdeltajohnson Hi - well, I don't know the exact answer, except to say that many clains adopted a Latin motto. Latin was the language of education and prestige in Europe, while few outside the Gaelic countries understood Gaelic. It's the same for the two sides of my family - they both have Latin mottos, but one can also find the Gaelic version.
I visited Barra in Aug. 1970(11 yrs old) with my family(MacNeill). We took a rowboat out to the castle and Robert MacNeill's widow was living in the castle at the time. We were given a tour inside. I noticed this video didn't show the dungeon... It looks like Castlebay has grown a little since we were there. I'm proud of my Scottish heritage and glad I got the opportunity to learn more about my ancestors who came to America in the late 1700's.

I stand corrected. In gaelic, the family motto is, "Buaidh No Bas."
Thanks...

"Vincere Vel Mori," gaelic for " Victory or Death," is the family motto. Thank you for posting this, God bless...

@robertdeltajohnson That's actually the Latin version. I wish I knew Gaelic. It's hard to find a place to learn it.

@equesfuscus Why would latin be on the MacNeill(Scots) family crest...? I've been told by several Scottish scholars that it is indeed gaelic...
