As for the confusing pronunciation of Simon's name, well in Japanese his name is pronounced "SHI-Mon." My guess is that they decided to stay closer to the Japanese pronunciation instead of the more English-friendly "SAI-Mon."

However, I don't think the name confusion is quite as sappy as the whole "Better not shout better not cry" part of the song. What, did Dracula become Santa Claus or something?
