  • I can just see spores and more spores floating off as they eat it though.

  • Peppermint shrimp isn't guaranteed to eat aiptasia, I bought 5 shrimps and none of them eat the aiptasia in my tank

  • mi piace veder soffrire quell'aiptasia !!!

  • damn its getting gangbanged

  • PLEASE ANSWER: i just got 2 peppermint shrimp... but recently i havent seen them. today i found wat i hope is the clear shedded skin of the shrimp but im afraid that the 2 damsels in my 30 gal tank killed the shrimp. i think it is just the shedded remnants of the shrimp but im a little discoraged b/c i avent noticed any aiptisia dying

  • If all else fails use a Pest zapper they work great. In the long run also.

  • That aiptasia just got RAPED!

  • DIE! DIE! DIIIIIIIIEEEE!

  • keep in mind!! camel shrimp look VERY similar to the peppermint shrimp and are sometimes sold as peppermint shrimp. HOWEVER! the camel shrimp does not eat aphasia.

  • i noticed these things hitchhike on heliopora live rock.

  • i just picked up 5 of them and so far all mine do is hide =( maybe once they see it they will eat aptasia..

  • most likely they are doing there job! they are pretty strictly nocturnal so you won't see 'em that much other than in caves, during the day.

  • @eclipsedragon84 I'm having the same problem

  • @buddry007 i ended up using aiptasia x then after that night they killed what was left of it.. then a few months later i got two more aiptasia and they still wont touch it..

  • @eclipsedragon84 join the club, I'm not sure if these make good additions to the reef or not. I just added a rose bubble tip. I heard sometimes they will rip the food right out of the anemone stomach 30 minutes later. I heard a splash last night while watching my tank with moon lights. I thought a peppermint shrimp tried to jump out making a splash. Actually, she spawned hundred of shrimp floating around.

  • @buddry007 ya they do that to my open brain.. mine had eggs in it but i dunno where they went.. maybe the fish ate the small shrimps..

  • We had these everywhere in our tank! Got 3 peppermints and can't find an Aiptasia in the tank. Seems the peppermints have gone into hiding now... hmm... Thrilled about the aiptasia. We'd even spent money on the nudibrachs and this was far more effective!

  • I've got 6 peppermint shrimp in a 110g and although they did eat most of my aiptasia they left the large ones alone. My shrimp are much bigger than these ones and still won't go near the larger anemones. Also they've gotta be near starving to even look at aiptasia as food so I'm assuming it's not exactly their first choice of diet. They are extremely efficient at stealing food from corals so if you feed your corals regularly they probably won't eat much of the aiptasia. HTH

  • KILL IT!!!! WHOOOO!!!!

  • i found these in a rockpool, definatly these not camel shrimp.. there were alot of them with some aiptasia in neighbouring rockpools

  • great video~

  • can cleaner shrimp do that?

  • no..i have some and they wont even look at the aiptasia...apparently there are subspecies of peppermint that wont bother either...its why people get desperate and resort to barbaric needles and lemon juice lol

  • looks more like there ripping it appart

  • For some reason this reminds me of those squid things attacking their ship in The Matrix. Hehe, cool video.

  • its funny because mine really did rape some aiptasia. it was just 1 peppermint shrimp and it took out about 3 big aiptasia in a few days. they are also very respectful of other corals and seem to AVOID disturbing them. a great shrimp!

  • My pepp. shrimp don't touch the aiptasia, there are no fish in the tank and I don't feed them anything (just hoping they would just go for the aiptasia) should I add a few more pepp. shrimp?only 2 in there now... its only a 10gal tank with an out break of aiptasia!!!!!

  • Some research has been done by Andrew Rhyne that shows that you often need several shrimp in order to have them eat Aiptasia, particularly for large Aiptasia. You might try adding more. Also, I can't get mine to eat unless they are starved, and even then they scavenge algae, etc. of the live rock if possible. Good luck!

  • are your sure you have peppermint shrimp? Camel back Shrimp look very similar, but they dont eat aiptasia.

  • Actually I had to wait a few days and almost over night the aiptasia was GONE. One of the shrimp died i guess I cant find him anywhere but yep it was over all the live rock then in an instant it was gone.

  • I had one of these for a while with my dwarf hawkfish but I guess the hawkfish got hungry one day eventhough the shimp is as big as the fish.

  • It's like Vulture's on a corpse so fast they are coming :)

  • I'm gonna need those shrimps in my tank so go ahead and them here.

  • mine never ate my aiptasia but then it looks like you're training yours to have a taste for them. nice.

  • this video should be called "Aipstasia gangbang!"

  • do they also eat other anemones?

  • man i have two of those suckers and an aptasia

    they dont work

  • Like a pack of wolves set loose on a deer! ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • No, those are not camel shrimps. They are peppermints.

  • yeah, too bad all that slimey stuff is it reproducing...Auriga Butterflyfish = no more aiptasia, the natural way as well, then give it back to the store cause it will eat your corals too ha ha ha...gotta love this hobby! The auriga totally wiped out all aiptasia in my tank, VERY rapidly.

  • those arent peppermints those are camel shrimp

  • Wooaaah

  • nice bunch of posse!

  • yeees eat my prettys eeeaaaaattt!!!!

  • this makes me smile!
