The fact is, our politicians are not stupid, they know what could be done to help America; they are just evil and helping themselves is far more important to them than helping US. You can't remove them because they control the laws, the police and the military. You can't vote them out because they control the elections. You know what that leaves for an alternative.
A downside:continue to pollute the air using our assets. Beyond oil we can move to coal liquification, oil shale(It was said that OHIO along has enough coal to power the US for 300 years), and the well proven tech of nuclear. Of course, there will also be, as now, those who will sell it (the present proven world oil reserves indicate at least 45 years worth exists). An important thing is to keep our cash HERE for jobs and security while making the move to eco friendly sources.

Oil is going to remain expensive so Boone Pickens plan to convert to wind, solar and using natural gas for transportation (any car can currently be converted to run on compressed natural gas) is a better solution. Thermal solar, whereby the solar panels convert sunlight to heat to make steam to spin turbines, is the most promising technology for the future generation of power.
Joe, Great message! How about a recommendation to change the ridiculous federal income tax code. By creating a flat tax of about 17%, we could have an economy that would be robust, and the wonderful freedom of not spending valuable time and money complying with such a convoluted tax code. We have 536 elected senators, representatives and a president that are supposed to be our leaders and control our lives. But,instead, they only concern themselves with their reelection.

The proven oil reserves are those enormous sources that we have naturally available on our land, like ANWR and the North Slope. The strategic oil reserves were bought and punped into the ground for emergency readily available use, and are small.
Where the oil goes and the price is up to those who own the oil and reflected in the agreements to allow exploration and drilling. The terms would not convey ownership of what is found, but only a fair profit as a vendor bringing a product owned by this nation to market. That is how the shieks get their money.

Joe, I like your ideas about using our own country's available energy sources while simultaneously concentrating on creating alternative energy sources. Alaska is absolutely huge, and there are ways to drill there without destroying the environment. And, I like the idea that's been voiced of letting the individual states decide if they want to have off-shore drilling. THAT is power back to the people. Let the people in each state decide on that.

Other transition energy sources are available too, like oil shale and coal. Using what WE have to secure our nation and its economy and also to develop cheaper, controllable, more eco friendly sources is the idea here.
Joe, One idea you forgot to mention is alternative fuels, hybrid vehicles, compressed air. I heard there are some great fuel efficient vehicles that the US won't even allow to come over here from overseas. How about Geothermal heating and cooling. Solar energy? I have geothermal and its great, wish I had the solar as well.

Pretty good. I do think there is a problem with the Iraq scenario. If we truly do end the war and Iraq truly became an independent ally, they'd need the oil revenue from the world market price and not the discount price we'd prefer to pay. Yes, they owe us but the reason they owe us is we went to war despite not being attacked by Iraq. So, they could say they owe us nothing. I doubt we'd be able to buy oil at a discount. Even if we did, much of the world would cry foul.
I think I'd vote for you for president if you ran for it because the current candidates are too busy slinging and dodging mud to voice their plan for america. I have been using the reference to the Kennedy speech, on going to the moon, for the last few years. I was in the oil bussiness during the last boom. There is so much oil in the mideast they have not removed enough to figure out what is left. If we pledged to be oil independent in 10-12 years the current price would go down over 50%. I do not expect the current administration to make that statement but one of the current candidates could!
Sorry for the confusion. Actually I did not say free healthcare, and as for me, I don't like scoialism. What I was tring to point out was that if we paid ourselves for our own oil there would be so much money money we could even buy healthcare if we wanted to. It could be done through insurance companies. It could include more healthy lifestle training, preventive medicine, it could be until a certain age, or just for those that cannot afford it.

Joe, I believe that a new type of Medical Insurance plan would also be a good thing. For everyonewho does not have insurance an option to purchase a government supported plan would be available and all who choose this plan would have to pay for the insurance, however, the payment share could be based on income level, but in no case would it be zero. This could make insurance affordable to all but not free. The government could use all the Monies paid for free health care to support the plan.
Joe, how about giving our Senate and House seats terms, give everyone two terms (8 years) to make their difference. This would make me feel more secure that politicians are not proffitng from selling me up the river. I cannot imagine this passing in a senate that would be cutting it's own throat, but I do not see change until all the "ol money" is out of Washington.

Liquification of coal was proven in the 40s and actually powered Hilter's armed forces for a good part in WWII. It could be done here easily and be one of the tools to get us to more eco friendly energy sources. Sometimes YouTube has audio problems and sometimes it indicates vids as "unavailable" when they actually are available. If you try it a few consecutive times, it usually will play fine.

Oil is going to remain expensive so Boone Pickens plan to convert to wind, solar and using natural gas for transportation (any car can currently be converted to run on compressed natural gas) is a better solution. Thermal solar, whereby the solar panels convert sunlight to heat to make steam to spin turbines, is the most promising technology for the future generation of power.

Joe, Great message! How about a recommendation to change the ridiculous federal income tax code. By creating a flat tax of about 17%, we could have an economy that would be robust, and the wonderful freedom of not spending valuable time and money complying with such a convoluted tax code. We have 536 elected senators, representatives and a president that are supposed to be our leaders and control our lives. But,instead, they only concern themselves with their reelection.

I will certainly withhold the temptation to call a name. Let me explain: There is a difference between the "proven reserves" and the "strategic reserves". Every nation has proven reserves and you can see them in the "CIA Factbook". This video is only about the non strategic reserves.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was forwarded the video because i said the exact same to my family with the exception of the reserves being needed for war. i have a friend that sold the rights to his in inheritance (untapped oil fields).they capped the test wells and my friend was out his inheritance and the income. that's how much they care. thanks

You maybe confusing the proven oil reservesand the strategic oil reserves. The proven oil reserves are those enormous sources that we have naturally available on our land, like ANWR and the North Slope. The strategic oil reserves were bought and punped into the ground for emergency readily available use, and are small.

Where the oil goes and the price is up to those who own the oil and reflected in the agreements to allow exploration and drilling. The terms would not convey ownership of what is found, but only a fair profit as a vendor bringing a product owned by this nation to market. That is how the shieks get their money.

Joe, I like your ideas about using our own country's available energy sources while simultaneously concentrating on creating alternative energy sources. Alaska is absolutely huge, and there are ways to drill there without destroying the environment. And, I like the idea that's been voiced of letting the individual states decide if they want to have off-shore drilling. THAT is power back to the people. Let the people in each state decide on that.

BINGO!!! Using Canada's Oil (& oil shale), our own oil sands and oil in Alaska, California, and Florida, we can do this! Take the overage only from Iraq, Mexico, and other friendly nations. And have a focused effort in eliminating the need for oil by 2025. I love it.
I am so tired of some saying "you can't drill your way out of this crisis". Yes we can, but we need to have an end goal in mind.

Our underlying problem is simple to understand but difficult to rectify.
Ambition is not a leadership trait. Real leaders arise during crisis not plot over time to attain power. Our problem in politics, or any system with rank, is that we have the most ambitious mapping out a path and checking the blocks to get there. Joe, One idea you forgot to mention is alternative fuels, hybrid vehicles, compressed air. I heard there are some great fuel efficient vehicles that the US won't even allow to come over here from overseas. How about Geothermal heating and cooling. Solar energy? I have geothermal and its great, wish I had the solar as well.

Pretty good. I do think there is a problem with the Iraq scenario. If we truly do end the war and Iraq truly became an independent ally, they'd need the oil revenue from the world market price and not the discount price we'd prefer to pay. Yes, they owe us but the reason they owe us is we went to war despite not being attacked by Iraq. So, they could say they owe us nothing. I doubt we'd be able to buy oil at a discount. Even if we did, much of the world would cry foul.

A direct approach is the way most if us would like to see our nations problems handled. However those we gave power to are afraid of hurting the feelings of special interest groups. Without terms there is a mindset of a career instead of making a difference. Terms will bring in new blood every 4-8 years with ambitions to make a differrrence for the people that sent them there. Joe, thanks for taking the time to speak for a lot of us regular "Joe's and Jane's". I've been telling everyone I know that the folks in Washington don't care a flying flip about us-they have their own agenda. I think all of us should do a video and indunate Washington with them with how we all feel. Your plan is good as good as some of the others we talk over with our friends. I think Washington should be run by regular Joes and Janes. If you need some help running for office, send me an email!

Common Sense, term limits, get rid of special interest groups or at least take away their ability to sway policy, strip the retirement package and reformulate it to closer reflect the SS payout that normal Americans can expect, it they want more, let them pay into a 401k like we do.
Revamp labor laws written so long ago no one remembers who wrote them, give American business back their competitiveness and revitalize our economy.
Hold Politicians accountable and expect, no demand, more!

Man...I have been very frustrated lately over what we are facing in this country lately. High gas prices, insecure borders, terrorism ect. ect. I have also watched all the persidentail candidates stances on all of these subjects and more. Not one of them had nearly as good of a plan as YOU! If we don't stand and stand up very soon we are in grave danger of seeing what our forefathers have created come crashing down around our ears. Keep it up Joe. This is your wake up call AMERICA!

YES! We need to get rid of ALL the professional politicians. Abraham Lincoln couldn't get elected to the presidency today because he isn't a millionaire. WHY are millionaire's who are not in touch with the real America most of us live in, representing us in the first place? The system is broken. They should have to work as social workers as a prerequisite for service on a social worker's pay, for 4 years first. Then we'd see a more realistic picture of who has a SERVANT'S heart and who doesn't.

I have been using the reference to the Kennedy speech, on going to the moon, for the last few years. I was in the oil bussiness during the last boom. There is so much oil in the mideast they have not removed enough to figure out what is left. If we pledged to be oil independent in 10-12 years the current price would go down over 50%. I do not expect the current administration to make that statement but one of the current candidates could!

Sorry for the confusion. Actually I did not say free healthcare, and as for me, I don't like scoialism. What I was tring to point out was that if we paid ourselves for our own oil there would be so much money money we could even buy healthcare if we wanted to. It could be done through insurance companies. It could include more healthy lifestle training, preventive medicine, it could be until a certain age, or just for those that cannot afford it.

Aren't these issues similiar to the ones that caused us to tell England to kiss our merry butts back in 1776 and declare our independence? Suppression and outrageous taxes and fat kings ordering us common folk about? I think it's about time that we represent ourselves as Patriots and take back control of our country. Fine video. Reasonable, common sense proposals.
Hope there are enough folks out there without media blinders on to see what needs doing. I remember many energy saving devices and alternatives during my lifetime that made great news for a time and then disappeared. We need a large grass roots response to push these "new" ideas forward. Let the media concentrate on Hollywood's Green craze,(The least harmful bandwagon for them yet) and leave the rest of us to get the job done.

Joe, I believe that a new type of Medical Insurance plan would also be a good thing. For everyonewho does not have insurance an option to purchase a government supported plan would be available and all who choose this plan would have to pay for the insurance, however, the payment share could be based on income level, but in no case would it be zero. This could make insurance affordable to all but not free. The government could use all the Monies paid for free health care to support the plan.

Joe, how about giving our Senate and House seats terms, give everyone two terms (8 years) to make their difference. This would make me feel more secure that politicians are not proffitng from selling me up the river. I cannot imagine this passing in a senate that would be cutting it's own throat, but I do not see change until all the "ol money" is out of Washington.

If you do write / produce a followup, please mention solar energy: on average, 300 Watts per sq. m. of land...if we could increase to 50% efficient that's 150 W. per m. NICE!

While not all the ideas (e.g., climate change caused by oil and billions more for "alternative fuels") dazzle me, Joe makes more sense than a boatload of senators. Hi Joe,
Sounds good but first we have to replace Congress. What about term limits. Say twelve years apiece, then forced out of office with no contact with any elected official for twelve years. Then give the an honorarium based on the states elected form means average income. Force then to live on SS and work for a living. Be nice if you helped abolish the VA and let Vets seek health care in the private sector.
