They give him much more because he does great things with it, as opposed to other directors who work for the same company. In the original Liquid Snake talk ugly to Solid Snake and Grey Fox. This scene I want to see again and again. Is the perfect scene of all time. Movies and games. In twin snakes they talk like gays. And in the end when Grey Fox talk to Snake about Νaomi it doesn't playing the "all the money" music. Also the voices are not like their feelings. They are talking, without feelings. Wikipedia tells me that 'royal harriers' or a 'harrier' is a type of dog that is used in a similar fashion to a foxhound in fox hunting. So Liquid is not talking about using a multi million dollar jet to hunt foxes. That would be a little bit of overkill.

I was only 5 when this game was released and didn't even own a gaming console. Luckily I got the oppertunity to play Twin Snakes 6 years later and up until today it's one of the best games I've ever played.

True enough I suppose. At the time of release, 1999, I was 10 years old. My brother, 16 at the time, bought me a copy of this game, I still own it now and consider it the best present I've been given ever by anyone. I've played it countless times, memorized every secret, every boss tactic and every cutscene. It's that fucking good. I might play it again soon actually.

@aztaclalz I have to agree with this 100%. Living in europ, we had a french translation of this game. Voice acting were bad, it almost ruined the entire game. I then discovered the twin snakes remake, with the original voices, it were pretty good, but meh. Now that I am watching the original cutscene i understand why it was so good back then.
Now i feel sad because as a kid, i got a poor ass fench translation. I cannot even play the game without laughting every 5 minutes it's so bad.
@aztaclalz I agree partly. Its true that the voice-acting, script, and specially the MUSIC was better on the original, but several of the cutscenes were WAY better in the remake. With some exeptions of course.
I dont mind the over-the-top acrobatics and bullet time, but some of them are way absurd (Snake jumping ON TOP OF A LAUNCHED MISILE to deliver a shot to a Hind-D? WTF?)
but overall 80% of the cutscenes in the remake are better, they just should had left the music and voice of MG1.
@Shakduhn I believe they tweaked and changed the music in the remake to suit the game's mechanics and such. I do agree that the voice acting was so much better in the Original. The Genome Soldiers' voices were better in the remake, with one exception. When you're locked up in the torture room. The soldier's voice was worsened in my opinion. His voice was way to calm. Especially when he said "Shut up in there will ya?".
twin snakes has better graphycs but its souless, even in music and dialogs is far superior the original MGS, nintendo sux, at least they should hired the same actor from the gray fox original´s voice.
@kanuh Though I agree they should have brought back the original actor, David Hayter (Voice actor of Solid Snake) gave up half of his paycheck to get every other original actor back.

The Twin Snakes version of this scene is crap. Yeah, the graphics are better, but the voice acting sucks, there no emotion, no feeling in it. I know I'd happily play an old game with feeling rather than a new game with dull voice acting and emotionless storytelling.
@Fatman311 The voiceacting here is very choppy - the characters' lines are edited much too fast and I think Fox' voice actor is very cheesy in the original (also, he lisps). Not to mention, all the other voice actors in the game learned over time and got better - they are able to carry over the emotions of the characters very well and don't sound like they are in a studio recording lines but in the given situations.
@Fatman311 the characters show more emotion in the play station than the game cube. i saw the twin snakes version of this cut scene and it was nothing like this, gray fox didn't show any emotion in his voice when he talked in the game cube and when he lost his arm he was in pain. in the play station, there's music in the back ground and gray fox is more of a beast when he lost his arm because he showed no pain. there's no point arguing with me because i don't care and you can't change my mind.
Dude, that's like one of the main reasons I hate Twin Snakes. The voices were just robotic, and the updated gameplay mehchanics made alot of the battles really REALLY easy. Like Ocelot's with First Person. The orginal MGS will always be better in every sense. Atleast to me.

@stawg007 raiden does'nt die in mgs4. If you played the game you will see that he comes to hold the frogs back from snake in act 5. And at the end he meets his son.

Its Metal Gear Solid Integral, the PC version of the game, but for all intents and purposes the scenes here are the same (except a chunk I cut out for reasons unknown by this point) and I have both the PC version and PS1 version, so yeah, he did have a pulse rifle at the end, but not during your boss fight with him (which is fucking epic if I say so myself)
I made this vid millenia ago, I cant remember and dont particularly care why I removed that scene. Suck it up, or better yet, play the game over again.
i'd say this is the saddest part of the whole series...but i def had tears at the very end of mgs4...and then came that "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING!!!" moment when you find out he didnt do it :)
My favorite scene out of the whole series, but it's missing my favorite part! The speech Gray Fox gives while he's still up on that ledge combined with the "No, I can't do it!" and "It's no good, I can't do it!" when you try to fire is what always brought me to tears.

If, as I've read, this game came out 1999, then I was 6 years old... loved watching my brother play it than actually playing it myself, tbh.
It was so exciting; like a film but way better.
This scene is so clear in my memory from them years ago.. this and Meryl holding a gun shakily at you..

I dont mind the over-the-top acrobatics and bullet time, but some of them are way absurd (Snake jumping ON TOP OF A LAUNCHED MISILE to deliver a shot to a Hind-D? WTF?)
but overall 80% of the cutscenes in the remake are better, they just should had left the music and voice of MG1.

@Shakduhn I believe they tweaked and changed the music in the remake to suit the game's mechanics and such. I do agree that the voice acting was so much better in the Original. The Genome Soldiers' voices were better in the remake, with one exception. When you're locked up in the torture room. The soldier's voice was worsened in my opinion. His voice was way to calm. Especially when he said "Shut up in there will ya?".

The Twin Snakes version of this scene is crap. Yeah, the graphics are better, but the voice acting sucks, there no emotion, no feeling in it. I know I'd happily play an old game with feeling rather than a new game with dull voice acting and emotionless storytelling.

@Fatman311 The voiceacting here is very choppy - the characters' lines are edited much too fast and I think Fox' voice actor is very cheesy in the original (also, he lisps). Not to mention, all the other voice actors in the game learned over time and got better - they are able to carry over the emotions of the characters very well and don't sound like they are in a studio recording lines but in the given situations.

@Fatman311 the characters show more emotion in the play station than the game cube. i saw the twin snakes version of this cut scene and it was nothing like this, gray fox didn't show any emotion in his voice when he talked in the game cube and when he lost his arm he was in pain. in the play station, there's music in the back ground and gray fox is more of a beast when he lost his arm because he showed no pain. there's no point arguing with me because i don't care and you can't change my mind.

Dude, that's like one of the main reasons I hate Twin Snakes. The voices were just robotic, and the updated gameplay mehchanics made alot of the battles really REALLY easy. Like Ocelot's with First Person. The orginal MGS will always be better in every sense. Atleast to me.

Hideo Kojima has stated that the MGS movie will not be and David Hayter has said it was because of hollywood bullcrap.
I'd rather have they did not do any film at all comepared to another hollywood betrayel like Resident Evil.

Its Metal Gear Solid Integral, the PC version of the game, but for all intents and purposes the scenes here are the same (except a chunk I cut out for reasons unknown by this point) and I have both the PC version and PS1 version, so yeah, he did have a pulse rifle at the end, but not during your boss fight with him (which is fucking epic if I say so myself)

My favorite scene out of the whole series, but it's missing my favorite part! The speech Gray Fox gives while he's still up on that ledge combined with the "No, I can't do it!" and "It's no good, I can't do it!" when you try to fire is what always brought me to tears.
